NanoMail is only for people who have accounts of NaNoWriMo/Screnzy.

SO what is that?? Am I old enough??? I love writing and reading!!!!!

It's where you write a 50,000-word novel in a month. You're supposed to be at least 13, but you can round your age to the nearest teen if you want. If not, you can do the Yuong Writers' Program, which lets you choose a word count goal.

Vida's comment isn't up yet, but I'd like to explain that it's a private-messaging system. We used it recently instead of the CB because we wanted to meet each other, and if we'd put the details here, anyone could have seen it, including stalkers, if any are looking.

Okay, so what is it?? Is there reqirements??? My friend and I love Cricket, but she lives in Oklahoma, and I live in South Texas. She wants to contact me, but we don't know each other's numbers, and I don't have my own email. So maybe if I look into it I can do it. Can you explain how I can do NaNoWrimol/Screnzy???
Is there a certain age??? Admins, if you know anything, can you tell me??
We don't know anything about the NaNo site, sorry Vida. We said that we'd prefer if it was planned off of the CB, so i think the other CBers have decided that that might be a safe site to contact eachother through. I'm sure they can give you more info -Admin

@Vida: Okay, National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo for short) is this organization started by a few guys who, for a dare, decided to write a novel in a month. Since then, it's become a worldwide thing. In November, thousands (don't quote me on that) of people write a novel, as defined by the site as being 50,000 words. In order to officially do NaNoWriMo, you have to sign up. For the main thing, you technically have to be 13 (though some people just fake it and pretend they're 13). However, there is a program for kids called the Young Writers Program where you can set your word count goal. On the site, there is a way for people to private message each other, and that's called NaNoMail. I'm sure Ima and Kimmie are communicating there to set up a meet-up, since they can't on the Chatterbox. (That's what I did with Kimmie when I met her, which was awesome, but another story entirely.) However, NaNo is not soley a site for communication - it just happens to have private message option. Since you don't have an email, you and your friend could always sign up for NaNo to communicate, though it's not as nice as email, or something that's devoted totally to communication. But if you do sign up, you'd get two in one - a chance to write 50,000 words in November with a lot of other insane writers and a way to communicate with your friend! Hope that makes sense!

Ok so I googled the NaNoWriMo, went to the site, and I think it looks fun. I'm gonna think about it though. Now I'm going to google the young writers thing.
*Googles it* I don't like the YWP. So yeah.
(March 25, 2011 - 8:31 pm)
@Vida: If you don't like the YWP, you could always do the real (AKA the 13+) one and fake your age. Lots of people here on the CB, like me, (I think) did that. And even if you don't like the YWP because of, um... I don't exactly know why you don't like it, but if you didn't like it because you get to set your own word goal, you could always sign up on it still for the forums. The ones on YWP are better (for people our age) and safer and there'll probably be more people close to your age on the YWP than on the main site. :)
Oh, and there's also Script Frenzy (this April!). It's run, I think, by OLL, the company who is run by the guy who invented NaNo. Sadly, I'm not doing it this year because my mom'd rather have me edit my 2010 NaNovel than write a whole new script. And really, it's not that much of a loss. NaNoWriMo's waaaaayyyyy better than Screnzy anyway. Well, to me it is. :)

Yes, I don't like the layout of the YWP site, either.
(March 26, 2011 - 9:04 pm)
@Leaf: I couldn't have explained it better myself, so I won't even try to. :) Do you understand now Vida? It is a very easy way to keep in touch with buggies. I'm friends with 13 buggies on NaNo at the moment and thanks to private messaging I've met up with three of them-Laura, Leaf and Ima. So much fun, really amazing! :)
(March 28, 2011 - 9:48 am)
So, how do I like message you?? Do I have to put in your user name to befriend you or someting??????????
If so, possibly you could facebook my mom, like a private message... I haven't created my account yet, but I am about to! I might also enter the NANOWRIMO contest...
(March 28, 2011 - 3:21 pm)
3? I thought you said you'd met 5.
(March 28, 2011 - 3:42 pm)
@Ima: You remember correctly, I have met 5! I mean that I've met three of those five because of NaNo messaging. :)
(March 28, 2011 - 11:35 pm)
I've been thinking about entering NaNo for a while....maybe I will next November.
(March 28, 2011 - 9:41 am)
@MJ: You totally should!!! There are a lot of us on, and it's really fun. It's also such a great motivator. I had always wanted to write a novel, but I never really thought I had the time, so NaNoWriMo was great for me. :)
