The Harry Potter
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
The Harry Potter
The Harry Potter era is almost up!!
I think we all know, a new era is dawning, Percy Jackson and the Olympians!
The Percy Jackson
series is possibly the BEST series ever written!
The first book, The Lightning Theif,
is about Percy Jackson the kid who always gets into trouble. He finds out that he is not an ordinary kid -- he's the son of
Poseidon!
Zeus' Bolt has been stolen and who gets the blame? Percy, the
only living offspring of the Big Three (Zeus, Poseidon and Hades). Now he goes on a quest to find the Bolt and
prove that he is not the Lightning Theif with the help of his friends
Grover and Annabeth. But if Percy didn't steal the Bolt, then who did?
Percy Jackson is the new Harry Potter! Though, Harry Potter still has magnificent and majestic great books, Percy Jackson is taking over!
JK Rowling, is still a great author, and will be known throughout history as "One of the greatest authors of all times", Rick Riorden is now taking her place.
We all know it!! You may have read the Potter books, and say they are better, they are great, but many of us agree, Jackson is the new Potter.
Don't deny it. You may not be a fan of the Olympian books, but you know, Percy Jackson is the new hit!!
Though, Harry Potter will stay in the hearts of many, it will never die off, or become out-of-fashion, Percy Jackson is taking over, WE ALL KNOW IT!

You already posted this on BaB; I think it would be best if we use that thread because it's in the right forum.
Aetc says ozoo, which must be either, "Oh, zoo!" or, "Oz, ooh!"

I for one do not believe Percy Jackson is the new Harry Potter.
I read the first Percy Jackson. It was very boring for me since the writing was too simple. I tried to read the second one, but could not stand it.
The story is an interesting one, yes, but I wish Rick Riordin was a more talented writer.
Maybe the reason for why the writing in Percy Jackson was too simple was because it was first-person. But then again I have read other first-person books that was written interestingly.
For some ages, it is appropriate. But I believe that there is an age when reading Percy Jackson 'does not count'. And I also do not believe that Percy Jackson can really be considered Literature.
Good research, Rick Riordin, but my heart will always be in Harry Potter and not convert to the more modern and hip Percy Jackson.
-Peacing out for now,

Okay, Percy might be the new Harry (he's better than Edward or Jacob anyway) but the series, well, first it was HP, then Twilight came and tried to take over, but it's on the queen's throne, not HP's king's throne (if you understand). But The Hunger Games, or the Mortal Instruments series (which I'll eventually read) might be succeeding HP, not Percy. Just saying.

Now I've never read Harry Potter, (I plan to soon) so I can't really say which is better. My friend and sister (and I've browsed through the Harry Potter book so I believe them) say that the writing styles are so completely different. Percy Jackson is obviously meant for a younger audience and Harry Potter for the older. Although they both could go either way, from what I've heard, Harry Potter is more mature in the theme of the book, and the way it is written. Percy Jackson is written very plainly, and though, realistic enough, isn't "the best series ever written" because it is written poorly. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the Percy Jackson series, but I don't think it could ever be the best series ever written because it's not well-written.
But, your question or point of this thread was "Percy Jackson is taking over Harry Potter etc." I don't honestly think Harry Potter ever "ruled" the book world. One reason it might be known to most is because that series was made into movies, and decently good ones at that. There was an attempt at the Percy Jackson movie but don't even get me started on that because I couldn't even finish the movie. Not only was it nothing like to book AT ALL, the actors were hideous and the whole plot was boring. Anyway, that's how I first knew about Harry Potter, because the movies have all somewhat recently come out and were pretty famous. But I really don't think there is a series out there completely dominating all others.

@ R~D--Wait a sec, you haven't read Harry Potter???? You should put that at the top of your list, friend. Do not be discouraged by the positively massive sizes of some of the books and the extreme number of pages. It won't be that hard since you'll get into it and finish it quickly. It's way better than Percy Jackson, imho. And the whole resolution is so complex, it's hard to believe that a human bean could write it. Then again, J.K.R. is British, and as I've said before, the British are brilliant.

No I haven't. Well.... it's somewhere close to the top of my list. :) But I actually just ordered four different books from the library that were recommended to me in my thread on BaB (not quite sure which ones, just the ones on the top of the list). You really do like British, huh? :) No, you're right! There's something about them that just seems... above us! :):) But, if you want to see some of my reasons, I think I mentioned a few in my thread. But... I guess I really don't have any sufficient ones anymore, so, I guess I'll get around to ordering the first one. :) I'll make a thread when I'm reading it/read it.

"Percy Jackson is the new Harry Potter! Though, Harry Potter still has magnificent and majestic great books, Percy Jackson is taking over!"
This is not so. If it were, the world would come to an end.

Actually I personally believe that Percy and Harry are VERY different from eachother and I love both. I actually don't think a Percy era is dawning. I think Percy will never take over...
