Hello everyone,

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Hello everyone,

Hello everyone,

After reading through a few threads, I decided that one thread that would be nice to have is a "Questions and Answers" thread. If anyone has questions about Chatterbox, Cricket, thread posting, etc., please post it here. :)

I'm relatively new to Chatterbox, and I'm not entirely sure how these things are organized. How do you know what topics are appropriate for each section? I apologize if this thread isn't in the right section -- but it seemed the most appropriate, as far as I could tell.

Additionally, as I'm sure most of us are, I'm a "budding author," and I'm really interested in the role-playing threads. However, a lot of them are considerably far underway. I'm not sure what's going on in any of them. Is it all right to start a new one, or swing in on an older one? I'm curious.

Last, my answer to a question I've seen in my "exploration" of Chatterbox. Lots of people have been concerned that to view a recent post they made, they need to go to the last pages. I guess I'm a little tech-savvy, so if you want to see a list of posts in the order they were created, follow the ensuing instructions.

First, go to the intended section (e.g., Inkwell). There you'll see the list of posts, right? Up at the top is where it "sorts" the posts -- it says "Subject," "Submitted By," "Replies," and "Last Reply." Click on "Submitted By" twice, and the posts are automatically sorted by when the post was created.

Well, that's all. Thanks for reading!

Hi! It's ok to join an existing roleplay thread; most people will explain how to do it and what's been going on and such.

Welcome aboard, Savitri. That's a really cool name, by the way. In answer to your questions:

1) BaB is for books. PP is for "the arts" and is mainly used to talk about movies and music. Inkwell is writing. DtE is supposed to be for RL, but it's pretty much just miscellaneous. CaC is supposed to be for talking about Cricket, but it's even more random than DtE. TM is also for talking about Cricket. Nobody uses it. At all.
2) I would just jump in on an existing one, but I recommend reading all the posts first so you know what's going on.

Hi!  I would make a new one, mostly because I don't have enough time to read through all the posts.  Especiall not the ones with 100 posts!  Anyway, it doesn't really matter.  For me CaC is the one for posts that don't fit anywhere else and yeah, DtE is RL.

Hello! Everything everyone else has said is true. You can either join an existing RolePlay (Either read the entire thread, because even if it is long, you'd probably only want to partcipate in one you find interesting, and there are plenty that are--I'll often read RP threads even if I don't participate in them--or just ask someone to tell you what's happened; I'm sure they will.) or start your own, whichever and whenever you want.

Welcome!!! If you're interested in RP, then go to PP first. There's a lot of RPs there, so there would probably be where you'd like to go.

The RPs in PP are all fanfiction, though, as are the ones in BaB. Non-fanfiction RPs are in Inkwell, as are Round Robins.

Woah...clicking the "submitted by" thing twice really works!  Thanks Savitri!

Hi Savitri! Joining an exisiting RP or creating your own are both great ideas! If you want to join exisiting RPs, either read all the posts or ask someone to give you a short summary.

Oh, and any RPs for the Warriors series by, um, their author(s) are posted in PP. But any other RPs are posted in BaB. (but I think there's a few non-Warriors RPs in PP, which is fine) :-)

Hey Savitri, welcome to the Chatterbox! :) This thread fits perfectly here in DtE! This Month is for (as you could probably guess. ;)) the magazine that came out this month, Chirp At Cricket is for a lot of introductions and such, (you can introduce yourself anywhere really, but it seems like people who make introduction threads do so in CaC.) Blab About Books is for blabbing about books, Down To Earth is about pretty much anything, (it's probably the most popular section. :)) Pudding's Place is about entertainment, (music, movies, CD's, etc.) and Inkwell is about writing. (books, songs, novels, poems, etc.) I hope that wasn't too confusing! :)

Wow, great idea about finding posts, I've really never thought of that.... :]

I hope you stick around, CB is so much fun and it's a great place to make fantastic friends! :)

Thanks everyone for replying to my post!! =) Thanks for all the tips and advice! I must say, I didn't expect such a warm welcome. Thanks, everyone! The tips on RPs were great, and Kimberly, thank you so much for the brief on what each section in Chatterbox is for -- that was really helpful.

I'd like to make one small correction to my tip for finding posts: For some reason (I don't know if it's just my computer or what), but to sort the posts from newest to oldest in BAB, you only need to click on "Submitted By" once. I guess it might be different for This Month and Pudding's Place as well, because I haven't tried it on either one. We may just have to play around with it, but clicking a few times is certainly a lot easier than searching through hundreds of pages! :)
