Halloween! EEEEEEEEEE! :D

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Halloween! EEEEEEEEEE! :D

Halloween! EEEEEEEEEE! :D

Halloween is only a week away, and I'm getting really, really fired up to go trick-or-treating. There are exactly 23 people that NDT and I have counted in our neighborhood that are celebrating Halloween (if you count us too). So, I have some questions:

1. Do you celebrate Halloween?

Yes!

2. What are you dressing up as?

Hermionie Granger from Harry Potter.

3. What's your jack'o'lantern going to be?

A regular old, classic jack'o'lantern face-triangle eyes and nose, smiling mouth with teeth.

4. How many houses in your neighborhood, counting yours, are going to be celebrating Halloween? (Best guess is fine, the only reason I know is because we moved here at the end of February and I wanted to see how many people are celebrating.)

23.

5. What's your favorite kind of candy?

Snickers/Twix/Kit-Kats/Tootsie Rolls/Tootsie Roll Pops/Heath Bars/Werther's Caramels. :) *drools*

Also...

Something I have observed: The people with really awesome (meaning scary) decorations often have the best candy, the people with lots of decorations (not really awesome/scary, just lots) often have kind of bad candy, and the people with simple decorations often have really good candy. Do you agree or disagree?

Here's your blank form to fill out:

1. Do you celebrate Halloween?

2. What are you dressing up as?

3. What's your jack'o'lantern going to be?

4. How many houses in your neighborhood, counting yours, are going to be celebrating Halloween? (Best guess is fine, the only reason I know is because we moved here at the end of February and I wanted to see how many people are celebrating.)

5. What's your favorite kind of candy?

OK, Wolfgir67, here's what this Admin has to say:

1. Do you celebrate Halloween? yes

2. What are you dressing up as? a wizard

3. What's your jack'o'lantern going to be? It's a fake plug-in one. I think the face is traditionally friendly/smiley.

4. How many houses in your neighborhood, counting yours, are going to be
celebrating Halloween? (Best guess is fine, the only reason I know is
because we moved here at the end of February and I wanted to see how
many people are celebrating.) Lots. I think over half the houses or more.

5. What's your favorite kind of candy? plain dark chocolate, dark chocolate Reeses peanut butter cups

Also...

Something I have observed: The people with really awesome (meaning
scary) decorations often have the best candy, the people with lots of
decorations (not really awesome/scary, just lots) often have kind of bad
candy, and the people with simple decorations often have really good
candy. Do you agree or disagree?  I can't say, because I haven't been trick-or-treating for years. I stay home and give out candy. But some people around here have lots of really awesome outdoor decorations!

Thanks for inviting me to participate!

1. Do you celebrate Halloween? Yes I do.

2. What are you dressing up as? I'm going to be a christmas elf. My family doesn't buy costumes so we have to make our own.  I think it's way more fun this way... except sometimes you're not fully put-together. :)  I have an elf hat, a green dress and white stockings that I'm going to wrap red electrical tape around so they look like candy-cane striped stockings.  And my sister is going to *somehow* wrap felt around my shoes and put a bell on the top to make elf shoes.

3. What's your jack'o'lantern going to be? I'm not making one this year.  It's not really my thing.  I'll help my siblings, though.

4. How many houses in your neighborhood, counting yours, are going to be celebrating Halloween? (Best guess is fine, the only reason I know is because we moved here at the end of February and I wanted to see how many people are celebrating.) This is kind of a strange question.  Do you mean, how many houses will you be able to trick-or-treat at in your neighborhood?  Because we don't trick-or-treat in my neighborhood.  My neighbors are all older, and there's only about 9 houses in our neighborhood anyway so we go to a friends neighborhood.

5. What's your favorite kind of candy? REESES!!!  I also love Kitkats, Twix and Take Fives.  But I'll eat just about anything!

Also...

Something I have observed: The people with really awesome (meaning scary) decorations often have the best candy, the people with lots of decorations (not really awesome/scary, just lots) often have kind of bad candy, and the people with simple decorations often have really good candy. Do you agree or disagree? Never really paid attention.  I have noticed, though, that houses with very little or no decorations normally have good candy. Thanks Wolfgirl.  I'm really excited too!  I'm taking my little sister trick-or-treating this year, though, because my parents say I'm too old.  But, as long as I get candy and get to dress-up, I'm good!!! :)

R~D~: Yes, I meant how many houses will you be able to trick-or-treat at. I understand it's kind of an odd question; if somebody asked me that I'd probably look at them weird. And then I'd say, "28!!!" :P

This doesn't ussally happen - that I get confused.

I am confused, so no-one cares what I think. No-one is gonna take into consideration about Halloween and it's origin??
Did no-one read my artical??? SO NO-ONE CARES WHAT HALLOWEEN is ABOUT????

@Vida: Of course we read it and of course we care. Both Hannah and I posted about it, if you'll recall. But Halloween isn't about that anymore. Actually, I'm pretty sure that it was the Christians who changed it--can't imagine who else it would be. :S

@WolfGiel67:

Ok thanks. I didn't see your posts.

Actually it was Catholics that changed it.

NO... nobody... no religion changed it.

I think that over time it just changed.

But I think it still is an evil holiday.

It still repeats what the ol' timers did.

@Vida: Aren't Catholics another kind of Christian? Correct me if I am wrong, though. :S Also, first you said that Catholics changed it, but then you said that nobody changed it. You did say that it changed, and then that it's still repeating what they used to do. No offense meant, or anything!

1. Do you celebrate Halloween?

Free candy. Of course

2. What are you dressing up as?

Possibly Ms. Hannigan (I've only had musical theatre for eight weeks and it's already like the most epic thing that ever happened to me), possibly something... er... warmer if the weather continues as it has been (snooow! Highs in the low 50s for the week!). Maybe Vetinari 'cause he's awesome. Or maybe Ms. Hannigan for school and Vetinari for the candy grabbing. Or maybe Susan if it's too cold for Hannigan but to warm for Vetinari. ((Halloween costumes are planned largely around weather here, can you tell? ^_^)

3. What's your jack'o'lantern going to be?

We don't have one cause we live out of town and like no one knows where we live.

4. How many houses in your neighborhood, counting yours, are going to be celebrating Halloween? (Best guess is fine, the only reason I know is because we moved here at the end of February and I wanted to see how many people are celebrating.)

Everyone (all five of us, natch), so far as I'm aware. Except S.s, 'cause they're in Cali for the winter. But the W.s buy half-pound Hershey bars for Quinn and me. It is awesome.

5. What's your favorite kind of candy?

Chooooooooooooooocolate! And also candy corn (I got to count the candy corns into the jars for the library's "guess how much is in the jar" contests. And then I ate all the leftovers.)

Something I have observed: The people with really awesome (meaning scary) decorations often have the best candy, the people with lots of decorations (not really awesome/scary, just lots) often have kind of bad candy, and the people with simple decorations often have really good candy. Do you agree or disagree?

Dunno, really. Our town is so small that it's really more of an "Oh, so-and-so has really good candy as long as you get there after the little kids have done their rounds (or before, in the case of people who think kids deserve the good stuff)" or "The F.s never get visited 'cause they're hidden by the clinic, so they always buy those humongous candy bars" or "Redstone is a good subdivision to hit 'cause of all the families with children who live there" or whatnot. So we don't really have to look at decorations so much (mind you, the drawback of this is that, due to the cheaty nature of driving for your candy, one ends up running a lot).

((My trick or treat path goes something like W.s, B.s, M., Return Home. Drive to Library. Park. Run to Redstone via the park (avoid Haunted Woods if possible, it wastes time). Return to Tyler by way of Fox Willow, hitting only decorated houses. Run up main street. Cross. Hit retirement center if time permits. Hit Mormon Church. Climb hill behind school to hit Orcutt Hill. Head for clinic by way of bike path. Hit F.s. Warm up inside if possible. Run back into town (or mooch ride, if possible). If A.s are in town house, pay them a visit. Return to library. Drive to church by way of mesa road (our church is way too far to walk to in subzero weather, esp. if it's windy). Return home unless YG event is a lock-in. This all varies a little depending on who I'm running around with, but it's the general schedule of the evening. Usually I'm home by 11-ish.))

Okay, well now what I know what you mean, Wolfgirl, it's not that odd. :)  Yeah, my neighborhood is hidden and spread out and made of 9 or so houses so NO ONE comes trick-or-treating here.  We once left a bowl out and counted all the candy, but when we returned, not one piece of candy had been taken. :(  I've always wanted to live in a house where people trick-or-treat.  I think handing out candy would be fun!!

@TNO: Ha, I know what you mean.  It's always cold or pouring rain here, so we wear sweatshirts under our costumes.... which makes for an awful-looking costume, but a warm trick-or-treater!  But, it also means we can't get short-sleeved costumes... and we can never be who we want to be.  But, I don't really mind.  I guess. XD

Do we live in the same state? I never let the cold stop me. Why just this year I had my long sleeves rolled up all the way and didn't have to roll them down at all. But then I was only out for an hour.

1. Do you celebrate Halloween?

YES!

2. What are you dressing up as?

A lethifold. That's something from HP...you can only find it in FCWFT (Fantastic Creatures and Where to Find Them). It's a big black thing. The material is called Ultra Cuddle Black. HAHAHAHA!

3. What's your jack'o'lantern going to be?

My personalized The Evil One face. :D

4. How many houses in your neighborhood, counting yours, are going to be celebrating Halloween? (Best guess is fine, the only reason I know is because we moved here at the end of February and I wanted to see how many people are celebrating).

23.

5. What's your favorite kind of candy?

Twix, snickers, tootsie rolls, werthers. Yeah.

Yeah, kinda. The people with GREAT decs have alot of money to buy good candy, the peeps with LOTS have spent all their money, and the peeps with SOME decs, like us, have money for good candy.

There is this house with AWESOME steps, and I really hope they celebrate so I can go down. :D

1. Do you celebrate Halloween?  Yup.  Candy, costumes, friends...  Beginning of NaNo.  Multiple other reasons I am too lazy to state right now...

2. What are you dressing up as?  Either the Red Queen, or a Shadow Thief.  Not sure yet.

3. What's your jack'o'lantern going to be?  Hmmm....  I don't know yet.  I am going to make one tonight, but I haven't really planned it...  Probably sharp-looking teeth, some eyes with lashes and the nose probably just a randomly cut out blob...

4. How many houses in your neighborhood, counting yours, are going to be
celebrating Halloween? (Best guess is fine, the only reason I know is
because we moved here at the end of February and I wanted to see how
many people are celebrating.)
Well, my neighbourhood is on a busy street...  and I don't really know any of my neighbours, except those who live near the supposedly haunted mansion.  My grandma knows the people who own the mansion, and my mom knows someone who lives on the same street...  But we really don't see anyone, since we live in a small valley, farther down than anyone else.  So...  five, at the least.  Multiple people have decorations, so...  Uh...  hmmm...  20, possibly.  I don't trick-or-treat in my neighbourhood, really no-one does, so I just go to a friend's neighbourhood.  Usually farther downtown, closer to the river...

5. What's your favorite kind of candy?
Chocolate with peanut butter, chocolate with coconut, chocolate with....

Hmmm...  I haven't really paid attention.  I just go to every house that has their front porch lights on.  Because if you have the lights off, then that means you are not giving candy, and if you have them on, then you are...  So, yeah, I just go to the houses, and run around, not really looking at decorations.  Unless they are really good.  Most of them aren't, though, except for a few.

TNO(umlaut): You guys have snow already?

1. Do you celebrate Halloween? If I feel like it.

2. What are you dressing up as? Dunno, maybe an ipod made out of a pillow case.

3. What's your jack'o'lantern going to be? We won't have one, unless my brother brings one home from school.

4. How many houses in your neighborhood, counting yours, are going to be celebrating Halloween? (Best guess is fine, the only reason I know is because we moved here at the end of February and I wanted to see how many people are celebrating.) Dunno, most probably (around 20-30) because I live in a kid-filled neighbourhood.

5. What's your favorite kind of candy? Oh Henry! M&Ms, Reese's, gum, I can't eat half of what was listed though because of my braces. But if I get any of what I can't eat, I'll eat it anyway (if it's good).

Also...

My sister is being a Mad Hatter.  I said that I was going to be the Mad Hatter for Halloween, but then she said, "Good idea!" and then started making the costume.  And I, not wanting to be the same thing as her, decided to be the Red Queen instead.  Though I should have told her she couldn't be the Mad Hatter, because she was copying me, as our littler sister copies her, and I would rather not have the same costume as her, but its to late now.  Unless I go to goodwill and find some trousers, and a vest of some sort...  and a jacket, and then make a crazy hat, and give my sister my costume...  But of course, I don't think she would agree with that, so we are not doing that.  Next year I may be the Mad Hatter, though...
