Chatterbox: Down to Earth
I need a
I need a book to read. One that I can pick up anytime and don't want to put down.
Here are some things that hopefully will make it easier to pick a book:
-My favorite genre is fantasy, and realistic fiction (like the Penderwicks) and books set in the Medieval or Renaissance time are AWESOME.
-Nothing that I can hardly understand (like Jane Austin and Edgar Allen Poe [shudder at Poe])
-I don't like "modern writing" like Percy Jackson, where the author is sort of "allowed" to end sentences with a preposition, and stuff.
-Nothing with aliens
-Maybe a clever book, or one that gives you new ideas and some kind of moral
-And one that makes me wish that that land, castle, or family were real
Thanks!

Fairest and tTPoB were both very good indeed. Everything I've read by her is. Except for Ever -- I HATED Ever.

Why did you hate Ever??? I thought it was really good!!!
And I, too, highly recommend both of those. I love Gail Carson Levine; she's one of my favorite authors.

I guess I just don't like romance stories. I mean, all her books have a bit of romance in them, being fairy tale stories and all, but in that one it was front and center and it just bored me. So if you like romance, you'd probably love it.
Have you read her book The Wish? It's about an unpopular girl named Willa who is given a wish, and she wishes to be the most popular person at her middle school. It works -- except she's going to graduate soon. Very thought-provoking. And Writing Magic, which is about writing, is fun and helpful.

Oh yeah, and another good Wendy Mass book (though not fantasy) is A Mango Shaped Space, which I know a lot of Chatterboxers have talked about. That's why I picked it up, actually. It's very sad, but very good too.

Inkheart, Inkspell, Inkdeath. If you don't mind a little bit of very mild language, they are just great books, some of my favorite. They fit all your criteria, and they have a great way of sneaking in poetic language without sounding "up with which I will not put"y. :D Thank you for that, ZNZ.

I agree with Emily, you should read the Inkheart series! They're amazing. :) My sister and I love them! I've only read the first and second, but she's read all three. :)

ARG!!! There are SO MANY BOOKS I WANT TO READ!!!!! I should read those at least, I know my brother has the first... maybe more. *steamsinfrustration* MUST READ.
I was so happy yesterday. I'd finally gotten to the goal I wanted in NaNo for the day and I thought, I want to read a book. I hadn't read one since Enchanted Glass a few weeks ago, other than reading HPatDH to my Papa at night, and was desperately in need of mind replenishing. So I picked up the latest Liz Kessler (Philipa Fisher and the Fairy's Promise), which I'd bought since I have the other two and love them, and read it in a couple of hours. It was good, though my favorite book by her is still the middle Philipa Fisher book. (Philipa Fisher and the Dream Maker's Daughter)
Anyway.... Talk to y'all later. :D

You... hadn't read a book in 2 weeks?! How did you do that?
Anyway, I've read many books by GCL including the ones listed (except for Ever), and I loved them.
I love everything anyone's mentioned so far, actually, so read them. I definitely preferred Inkspell and Inkdeath to Inkheart, though...

Hmmm...for some reason all I can come up with is A Wrinkle in Time series (which has aliens...kinda...but not your normal little-green-men-in-a-spaceship-from-Mars aliens) and The Witch of Blackbird Pond. Oh, and anything by Jean Craighead George.
Andy P. C. says hnxg.
~Wolfgirl67 signing off.
LOVE both of those books!
