Autumn Weather!

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Autumn Weather!

Autumn Weather!

It is nearing the end of Summer, and the beginnning of Autumn!  Yesterday was the first Autumn-Time weather we had; a wonderul, crisp day that made you want to go outside, and just fall to the ground, breathing in the wonderful smelling air.  The water in the creek was flowing cold and fast, and the whisper in the trees hinted that there would be loud winds coming soon.  And the day before, we had seen a gaggle of geese fly overhead, their calls echoing in our ears.

Those words don't even meet the beauty of what I saw and heard, and felt.

It does feel nice...  And this morning, a frost had come, and the grass was stiff and sparkling in the sun.

Ahem.  Sorry.  To much prose, perhaps.  I did the prose on purpose.   I just felt like writing it today.  :)

I love this weather, I love the smell, the taste of the air, everything about it.  Except the allergies my Dad has...  Anyway, it was nice.

How is the weather in you area?  :)

Goodbye,

~Meadow de Weirdo

I love the Autumn weather too.  I like the way the wind whistles through the trees and how the leaves gently fall to the ground.  We really haven't had any fall weather here yet, but we have been having colder days.

Ha, ha, Meadow, I was just going to make a post about this! :D :)

You are a really, really great writer. I love how you described fall! Fall is my all-time favorite season; the colorful leaves, the crisp weather, the warm colors, the harvest decorations, everything! Plus, our birthday is in fall, so I look forward to that. :) Halloween and Thanksgiving too--Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! :)

Yesterday it was a bit warm, but today seems like nice Autumn weather--crisp, cool and refreshing! :)

Where are you now, Kimberly? In what state? You don't have to be more specific. Are you and your family still on your big road trip?

I love the fall weather! It's kind of chilly and windy outside, but only at night. So you wake up, feel the air outside, get on jeans, a tank top, a sweater, and thick socks, and then it warms up and you have to go change. Haha, the weather is so funny in Chicago.

Admin, I would love to be more specific! ;) I would be making a new thread about each new state we go to, but I don't for 2 reasons- 1.) Because that would be way too many new posts & 2.) I don't want to bore anybuggy. :) Yep, we're stil on our big roadtrip, I'm not sure when we're going to stop! :) Yesterday, we were in SD, but today we're in WY. I really love days when we drive a lot, we get to see a bunch! For example, on Saturday we went to Wall Drugs, and yesterday we went to Mt. Rushmore! Really, really, really cool. :) Thanks for asking Admin! :)

That's what I did with my family in June--Wall Drug, Mount Rushmore, and into Wyoming! We thought all the scenery was so beautiful, because it was so varied and different from Illinois. We stopped for gas in a tiny town called Ten Sleep, Wyoming. I didn't even know we were going there until we stopped, but I've been intrigued with the name of that town ever since we heard from a Cricket reader there several years ago. I bought a postcard with the story of the name. The spot where the town is was "ten sleeps" away from each of the main Sioux winter camps.

Wow Admin, it's so cool that you and your family did the same thing! :D Yes, the scenery is really beautiful, I love the west! I can't wait to get back to the CA mountains... :) That's very cool about that town, I'll have to see if we'll be driving through there! :)

If you do and you stop at the gas station on the right (when you're traveling west), you can see the postcard I bought. I think it was on the way to Cody, WY, (in case you're going that way).

@Kimberly: Wow, you did exactly what I did on my road trip (except the other way). Wall Drug was amazing and definitely blew me away. :)  Did you enjoy Mt. Rushmore?  And did you see the original model?  I thought that was really cool.  It was amazing to see the real thing after only seeing pictures.  When we got back, we even saw a bus with a picture of Mt. Rushmore on the side that had switched Washington and Lincoln!  It was so weird.  Anyway, I think it's awesome that we saw the same things just a few months apart. :)

Here the weather is getting colder.  It was weird - the first week of school was super hot and from then on it's been getting cooler and cooler.  Now it's completely gray and cold and looks like it's going to rain, though the weather says it won't rain.  Whatever.  The air is so soft and just exists around me in a wonderful way.  The temperature is just perfect for me in the mid 60s.  Very strange weather for southern California, but that's fine with me! :D  And great thread, Meadow.  I like your description.

That is so cool Leaf!!! :D Wall Drug was really awesome, it was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. :) I loved Mt. Rushmore! No, we didn't see the original model, but I just looked it up-how cool! :) Ha, ha, that's really strange about the bus, you'd think they wouldn't make that kind of mistake. :) Thanks for posting, I think it's totally awesome that we saw the same exact things! :) <3

(I didn't know you lived in CA! I love CA! :))

@Kimmie: I know!  I thought Wall Drug would be a warehouse with lots of rows and lots of things just like a normal drug store.  How wrong I was!  Haha.  I didn't have a lot of time there because we were tight on our schedule and there was a storm coming, but what I saw was great!  I always find roadside attractions rather amusing, because people go to great lengths to make money off of people's road trips and make something unique for everyone to see. :)

And yes I live in California.  Ha, so much for that cold weather, it's sunny right now and the high is 74.  Such strange weather.  But I find it really funny when it's in the fifties here and everyone is shivering and complaining about how cold it is, and in other parts of the country, people are lucky just to have 50 degree weather.  Some of us just don't know how to be cold.  And then the rain.  If we get rain, it's amazing.  I don't even remember the last time we had rain.  Before the summer, maybe April or May?  I know we had some in January during finals.  But anyway, some people get sooo much rain, and here we are lucky if we get a light drizzle.

And Kimmie, I think you really should make a thread about your road trip!  I would be extremely interested to hear about your experiences!

Yeah, I love finding crazy tourist traps and roadside attractions! They always provide great pictures and awesome memories. :)

It's so cool that you live in CA! I have to say, CA is one of my all-time favorite states; I have so many memories there!! :) Ha, ha, yeah, it's so funny how people can look at weather so differently!

Wow, that's a great idea! I'll have to work on that-thank you! :) I'm happy to know that you're interested! :)

(We're in WA right now, I just met one of my pen-pals who I had never met in person before. It was SO AWESOME! :))

Well, where I live, the main difference between autumn and summer is that autumn is cool and summer is hot. Not much color difference or many enormous piles of leaves, as most of the trees are pines, and not much more wind. No frost, either; we rarely get it in winter, let alone fall. But it's getting colder, and that's good... Right now it's raining.

Yeah, it's definitely feeling like Autumn around here, too.<3 I love Autumn. :)Three days ago was the first day since Summer began that I actually was able to put on a pair of jeans and love it. I'm getting tired of all my Summer things and I'm ready for the cooler days. :)And I love hiking in the Fall when it's more comfortable out and the leaves start changing. :)Today was a little warmer, though. I think this will be our last week of warm weather before it  starts staying cooler and getting frosty in the mornings like it did a few days ago.<3

@Cheery Cherry: (I like calling you that, for some reason!  If you would prefer me not to, though, just tell me and I'll stop.  :D)  I like how you explained it!  I love when the leaves fall at the smae time and their all different clours, flowing down.  :D

@Kimmie: Thank you!  Their are a lot of great writers here!  Inkwell shows that.  I just like to go and browse on Inkwell and read random posts...  :D I think its really cool youre traveling and seeming to go everywhere.  The only times I've really traveled and gone a on a road trip far out of IL is when I went to Texas, and Tennessee...  :D  I threw up on my Dad in Tennessee.  In a tent.  And I also saw buckethead, who my dad thinks is Steve Vai.

@Ann: I live about five hours away from Chicago, and my Dad grew up there, and have told me of the piles of snow on his curb.  :D  The weather does sound funny...  :D  But I like it, the times I'ver been there to visit my Grandma.

@Ima: While I was in Texas, it was around sixty all the time, sometimes seventy, though that was in the winter.  It vaguely snowed...  I was there in the middle of winter, not Fall, though...  :D

@Leaf:  It is odd when its hot one day, and the next day you want a jacket...  And then the next is colder, and colder.  And the next dayis even colder.  It was raining here a few minutes ago.  :D

poop <-- that was Luna, my younger sister, who wanted to write something...

@ Megan: Autumn is my favourite season.  I love it...  The air smells really nice in Fall.  And like you, I can wear jeans without feeling uncomfortable!  And other long pants...  Its nice.  :D

Wow.  A lot of @s.  :D  But thats okay...  :D  The weather here is getting wet and slightly cold, sometimes it was warm, sometimes cold.  The weather is now wobbling, but in a fortnight it will become colder, and steadily stay that way.  The leaves haven't changed yet, but are starting to.My Mom is now getting out books about how the leaves change, andwhy some leaves fall all at once, others doing layers.  Books that I have read for years every Fall...

It has been colder here lately, but it's supposed to be warmer this week (for like the last time). Unfortunately, we will be in extreme northern Minnesota where it will be chilly, so no more warm weather for us... :)
