Haha, no offence taken! :) I think I kind of felt the same way about you... ;) *hugs*
Okay, this is really random, but do you guys say mature ma-tchur or ma-two-er? I say it ma-tchur, but I know some people say it the other way.
And do you say aDULT or Aaaadult? -Admin (who says matchur)

Kenzie, that's incredible! Who knows...because of that I may try going vegan for a bit. Or at least vegetarian.

You should try it! It's easiest to start by cutting out just one meat at a time. Lots of people start with red meats (like cow and pig), but really, it's most effective to start by cutting out white meats (turkey and chicken), since they're treated even worse and raised in larger quantities. But really, if you tried it for like ten days, I'd be REALLY happy. :)

I actually ended up having to 'start' with dairy and eggs. I'm allergic to them. All I had to do to become vegan was become vegetarian! That's one of the only 2 advantages to allergies...
(August 4, 2010 - 11:05 pm)
I had a friend who did the same thing, except I don't think she's allergic to eggs... She just doesn't like them. Her mom's paranoid about getting enough nutrients though, so she wouldn't let her stop eating meat. Even though vegans get protein and calcium too...
The worry with a totally vegan diet is that one often has to eat MORE to get the same amount of nutrient that you would get from meat/dairy - so for a kid, it might be difficult, and that's where parents often worry. You're right though, vegans can be just as (and often more!) healthy than meat/dairy eaters. -Admin

It depends on the food, really. For something like protein, yes: You do have to eat much more of certain foods. But when an animal eats a plant, it only keeps 10% of it's energy. If anyone is to eat that animal, they get 10% of that leftover energy, andin the long run that's less than if you'd just eaten the plant. But then there is protein and iron nd all the other things that can be damaged. Healthwise, there are many pros and cons, and it can get complicated. I generallydon't think much about it...
But now I can't even eat soy anymore (except in bread; it isn't that much of a problem)! One of the many doctors I've been going to lately for this odd mystery illness I've had since May says it might be partly caused by too much soy, and I fear she's right. It's very frustrating, as soy was such an enormous part of my diet. At least my parents still let me be vegan. I know some wouldn't.
(August 5, 2010 - 10:52 pm)
Yes ma'am, I agree. :) And woahh, how can you be vegan and not able to eat soy?! That must be impossible! Pretty much every substitute has soy in it! I like really, really respect you. But it's a good thing that coconut milk ice cream tastes better than soy ice cream.:)

Ima I really admire what you're doing. I know it must be really hard not to be able to eat soy, I can't imagine it actually. You have all my support, and if you decide it's too hard for you I totally understand it. But I think that's totally amazing. :)

@Kenzie: I have a friend who went vegetarian because of the way the animals were treated and also because of environmental reasons. (Raising meat is a very big greenhouse gas contributor, but I won't get into that.) My dad is also vegetarian, partly because he just doesn't like meat, and for the reasons above. Though I'm not veggie or vegan, I do try super hard to get only organic, free range meat because I HATE the fact that animals have been treated so poorly anyway. Urgh. And we get only organic eggs and milk. (Though I'm lactose intolerant, I get lactose free milk and it tastes pretty much the same.) And I don't even eat meat as much as any other meat eating family because of my dad, so being vegetarian is not a foreign concept at all to me. Kudos to you guys for going vegan!!
~Leaf
Yes! Free range and organic meets are better for you, as well as better for the animals and environment. Going vegan is insanely admirable (admiring all of you!) but it's good to recognize healthy alternatives, too! -Admin

That's good. :) I encourage my friends who really can't stop eating meat to instead eat organic meat. Not only are the animals treated better, you actually know what your burger's made out of.

BELLA!!!!!!!!!!!! I've missed you so much!!!!!!!! Are you still going to that Boarding School??????? How's life??? You may not hear from me for a while... I've been kind of busy lately, and not coming on much.... Anyway, I'm so so so so so glad you're back. :)
(p.s. thanks for mentioning me... and second too. I get really stupid sometimes and feel like no one likes me and that people will forget me, so whenever someone mentions me, and I know this is pathetic, I get really excited, and all happy and silly and sometimes teary-eyed. Very emotional. *rollseyes* It's totally dumb and pathetic, but I wanted you to know that it really meant a lot to me.)
*headdesk*
