Chickens!
My family got chickens on Saturday! My friends are moving to DC and they have (now had) fifteen chickens. They can't bring the chickens with, so we are now finding homes for them, including our own! So we brought nine to another one of our friends who has a chicken egg/goat milk/herbal stuff buisness. They have about a hundred chickens now. And now my family has six, two of them to be given to other people later today.
I'll tell you about the four chickens I'm going to keep. One polish, a black and white chicken. She looks like she has an afro; a white one. the rest of her body is black. She's real easy to catch. her name is Tony, but I like to call her 'Afro Chick.' I like to watch her bob her head, it looks like those famous rockstar people with shaggy hair that chake their heads a lot...
Peeper, an americana. She's white with a browning tan head and chest. My friend named her. I like Peeper, she's calm. She'sthe kind that lay greenish blue eggs.
I think that this one is an americana, of maybe an acauna, or something. She is white witha tannish brown chest. Named Narcissa. Or maybe White Clover. Or Miss Feather. She isn't very shy, she walked right up to me when I was weeding in the garden yesterday.
And there's a Wine Dot, whom is very much like Bella (thank you very much for that nice friendly peck; it felt quite nice, like a blunt needle being stabbed into your finger by a toddler), so I may name her Bellatrix. Or maybe not. Maybe Miss Dot. or Golden Grass. Goldota, maybe.
I'll have names for them someday. Just like the Gerami named Jones... people sometimes call him Indiana. Why! Jones. One syllable, not four. Jones.

Congratulations! That's excellent! I wish I could have chickens!! Unfortunately, though, my dog would probably not sit well with that...

Dogs and cats usually want to stalk or stare at or eat chickens. Though when a chicken walks towards Dawn (a kitty) and clucks, Dawn runs away. And they run away from Quinn. And Liger is perfectly fine with them because he's used to them, 'cause we had chickens before this. Quinn was also here when we had chickens before, but we didn't allow him to be around them. He actually ate Hopper who was not a chicken, but a genii. I'm sure he would've liked to eat a chicken, though...
It is possible to keep dogs away from the chickens. When the chickens are roaming free, just keep your dog inside. Or, is your dog is not allowed inside, put him/her on a leash and walk around and when just sniffing the chickens, say good dag, and when barking or something that might suggest s/he is going to run after the chickens, firmly say no. Or if you have a fenced in area away from the chickens then put your dog/s in the fenced in area so they won't get the chickens.
Sorry if that didn't help at all. :D
Mr. Aragorn says 'fytn'. No, Aragorn, no fighting. That is not good. maybe he's trying to tell me something. Are the chickens fighting? Lets see... Nope. Stop scaring me! 'hhdt', now, is it? Are you trying to hide something from me? 'hprr.' Now trying to be mister nice guy? Stop it! 'becb.' How nice! Be CB! He just said Be CB! *hugs Aragorn*

Awesome! I love chickens!!! <3 My friend and i hatched them for a project, and the chicks were sooo cute! *misses them* Unfortunately we deffiantly couldn't keep them cause my friend lives right off of a road and I'm pretty sure my neighborhood doesn't allow chickens. :( (Stupid neighborhood rules) Anyway you're soo lucky that you get to have chickens. Try to take a picture of them and upload it to a comment. Please!!! *pupy dog eyes*

I'll try to post a pickture of the chickens. Hopefully this doesn't become a link like my last try to post a picture did:
This is Tony, the Afro chick. With Goldota in the backround. :D
And Goldota, with White Clover in the backround. :D
Arn't they wonderful?
Admins, sorry if the pictures turn out to be links. If they do and you miss the links, then I will tell you. :D
Sorry, Meadow, the pics turned out to be links that lead us to gmail. I don't think posting pictures on here is going to work--but feel free to describe the chickens to us!

Darn! The pictures didn't post! :( Aww... Well since I've got nothing better to do I guess I'll do descriptions of my chicks. <3 Well I'll do Jr. Jr. first. (All of their names end in jr.) He was dark golden with speckles of brownish every here and there. He had legs too big for his body. Next is Senior Jr. He had the same feathers as Jr. Jr., but he had big wings for being so young. Muffin Jr. She had black feathers and white feet. (well more like pink) Sydney Jr. had black feathers, and black feet, but she had an awesome reddish stripe on her head. She would run wild when she was out of the box though. Bean Jr. was sorta like Senior Jr, but different at the same time. She was really cute, and friendly too. Lastly (we only hatched 7 out of 12) is Darla Jr. She was by far the prettiest. She had pure yellow feathers with really cool black spots on her back. When we brought them to school everyone fussed over her. The poor thing was scared to death. :| Wow, I just typed a lot!! XD

My teacher has three chickens named Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
She put a camera inside the coop and shows us the chickens on their website sometimes.
