30 Hour Famine!
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
30 Hour Famine!
30 Hour Famine! Has anyone ever done this before? What was it like? I'm doing it with my youth group. We go without food for 30 hours to raise money for world hunger. Did you know that 25,000 kids under five years old die every day, mostly because of hunger and preventable causes? It's really horrible. I've already collected, um, $220 in donations, and am trying to get $360, to help feed and care for a kid for a year.
Our fast starts April 16. We eat lunch on Friday, and then we don't eat until Saturday supper. We have a lock-in at the church and learn about hunger. I'm really looking forward to it.

That's really cool! I wouldn't be able to do it, though. I wouldn't get that many donations, and I'd get hungry....

Wow! That's amazing, ZNZ. I've never done anything like that, and I applaud you! *donates virtual money* Good luck with your fast!

I wanted to do it but I couldn't until I was 13. Then the youth leader left so none of the kids stayed and they tore down the youth house because it was 'too old and dangerous' and put in a parking lot. So now I can't and there are only 3 girls (me, my sister and somebody else) and at least 12 kids under 5. I at least help lead the praise songs.

Best friend, I never knew this about you.

Okay, this thread actually means something to me right now because I did eat breakfast this morning and I was just thinking I was hungry for lunch! Good luck, I hope you get a lot of money.

Hmm. I'll tell my youth director, Mandy, about this. We should try it.

Wow! I wish I could do that but I sadly get hungry easily.

A couple of my friends did that! they said it was fun, but hard. I've always wanted to try it, but my church youth group is.... none exsistant, to say the least. :) Good luck!! it's such a great cause your doing it for!

*is up to $250* Thanks for all your encouragements, all!

Oh, I would love to do that! I could see my current youth group doing that, but sadly my parents have decided that they do not care for some of the decisions my church is making, and are visiting a few different churches to see if there is another one in my town they like. I am sad that we will almost certainly be switching churches after I've spent the past 11 years growing up with most of these people once or twice a week (depending on if we have youth stuff on Wednesday).
So basically what I meant by that is I don't think we could organize something like that before I leave. :(
But not to depress you.
How did it go, ZNZ???

Aargh, I didn't read when it was. :P
Tell us how it goes when it happens though, 'kay?

My youth group was going to do that, but we were all busy the night it was scheduled for. So we're replanning it for some time in April. Good luck! I haven't done it before because last year I had basketball practice at the same time as youth group and couldn't come very often. But yeah, I'm really looking forward to it :D *gives virtual money* Have fun (ish ;D) yours will probably be before mine is so... ps spamboy andy thing (what did we wind up naming it? I think I'll call it Norman...) Anyhow, Norman says rext. it's like t-rex, but with the t at the end....that didn't make any sense....nevermind.

Wow, that sounds wonderful! I'm glad you're doing it. I would, but I can do freerice and raise food for the starving people wothout starving myself, and I would just rather do it that way.
