Ocean Group!!

I'm very excited to get to know both of you!

Here are some questions (sorry these are kind of random):

1. Do you play a musical instrument? (I play the violin)

2. What's your favorite books? (Mine is The Hawk's Way)

3. What are your hobbies? (I like chess, reading, writing, birding, learning new things, speaking other languages, programming and just appreciating nature)

4. What inspires you most? (Nature, and music)

Good luck on whatever you're doing next!

1. Yes! I’ve played the violin since I was four, and I started clarinet in fourth grade.

2. Currently, my favorite book is probably The Westing Game. I also love Aru Shah, Dragon Pearl, and Of Jade and Dragons. I also recently finished reading The Priory of the Orange Tree and liked it a lot. The book I’m reading now is called From a Certain Point of View, which is a Stars Wars anthology where the stories are written from the POVs of more background characters.

gtg, finish the rest later.

3. I like reading, climbing, parkour, swimming, learning new languages, math, hiking, and, last but not least, the Chatterbox! I have more, but this is getting a little long.

4. Um, music? I’m not sure about this one.

You started playing violin when you were four!? I always regret not starting earlier (I was seven when I first started playing), yet when I was beginning, I hated it with passion--probably because I was too stubborn to realize that it could be good for me--eventually it grew on me, and I'm glad XD

My mom plays violin as well. She wanted me and my younger brother to start earlier rather than later. I’m only currently in Suzuki Book 4 though, because we had a rougher period during the pandemic and practice slowed down a lot, but now it’s getting back to normal with in-person lessons.

Anyways, seven is a great age to start playing!

I guess I shouldn't have been really surprised about that, my older sister started playing violin in kindergarten (but took a long break), I started playing violin because of her :). The pandemic thing happed to me too, I had Zoom lessons, but I think I developed the unhealthy habit of holding on to your violin really tight with your left hand...I'm still trying to 'undo' that. I just started the last song of Suzuki book 2.

I’m currently in the middle of book 4. I did have a lot of fun with the Seitz pieces as well, especially the third one. You’re learning Boccherini minuet? I didn’t actually like that one as much. I have developed a habit of sneaking my bow hold farther up the bow, so I’m trying to fix that.

Yeah I am learning the Boccherini minuet. I don't like how it starts on sixteenth notes...

Some more questions!

1. Personality types? {Mine is INTP-T.}

2. Do you speak any foreign languages? {I speak Italian, am learning French, and just started trying to memorize some hiragana.}

3. Have any siblings? {I have a younger brother.}

4. How was school this past school year for you? {For me it started out kind of rough, because I had trouble understanding some things in Italian, but it got much better. For my last science test, I got a 6, which is the highest score, and I only got one insufficient grade, in History.}
