well, well, well!

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

well, well, well!

well, well, well! it seems we have somehow crossed paths once more, Tea 'n' Tacos. (do you have a nickname that I can call you that's a bit shorter than that? you can call me Elles or Meer if you'd prefer, as I know Ellesmere can be a bit of a mouthful)

I think we know each other somewhat well per our Star Wars conversations, and other occasional meetings, but perhaps we should delve a little deeper. get to know each other beyond simple acquaintance.

so, here I have compiled a short list of random questions that might spark conversation.

1 ~ do you have a favorite book? why do you like that book?

2 ~ what are some of your opinions on some of today's ideologies and culture? (you don't have to answer this if you feel like you might be too strongly opinionated, I just love hearing other people's opinions and the reasons behind them)

3 ~ what state do you live in? what are some things you love/hate about that state? (again, you don't have to answer)

4 ~ do you have any pets?

I'll answer 1, 3, and 4 here, but I think 2 might be more of a drawn-out conversation if youbu do want to discuss it.

1 - I really, really love A Wolf Called Wander by Rosanne Perry. it's just written in such a beautiful style, and the art is gorgeous. also I love wolves, so there's that...

3 - I live in Florida, and... well, I suppose I do like some of the trees here. the oaks get really huge and spread out if they're allowed to, and it's pretty neat. but otherwise... I really don't like it here. I wish I could move up north, where it's less hot and steamy and there's snow. and the nature and wildlife around here is just... boring. up north, the greens of the leaves are so vivid and there are so many more birds and wintertime actually feels different from the rest of the year and... ok, getting a bit long, lol.

4 - I have a dog, a yorkshire terrier named Chewy. he's so selfish and yet... very empathetic. when I'm sick he's always near me. then I also have a mexican cave tetra, the lone survivor of a diseased aquarium. he abides along with an army of unwanted tiny brown snails, otherwise known as The Infestion or The Demons. I also have a lovely outdoor cat, a beautiful speckled tortoiseshell named Ruby. she's the best cat I've ever met and so loyal. I have a black-and-white rabbit named Oreo, too, and she's so precious. we used to have waaay more pets, but recently we had an influx of deaths.

on that positive note, your turn :3

oh my goodness... I'm so, so sorry I haven't been on here. the thing is, I always get on my computer to write in my book, meaning that the only time I'm really on the CB is when I get mini-writer's block. but I got stuck, and I mean really stuck. got super discouraged about writing, felt like writing wasn't actually the right path for me, panicked about what I was supposed to do in life, fell into a fandom. but then that fandom made me happy and encouraged and excited about writing (and art) and now I'm back! take that, depression! *points accusingly at rubber duck*

thanks for your worries about the hurricanes. Helene wasn't too horrible--just some typical rain and wind. we got more rain in a day a few months back than we got through that hurricane (and, hopefully, this one that's coming). Milton is hopefully going to impact mostly south of us, so we'll just get some nasty rain and wind. but the ground is super saturated from all the rain we've been getting and a pond is flooded right nearby us, so hopefully it'll only be the street that floods, and nothing will reach our house.

well, on a different topic, what kind of music do you like to listen to, if you do? I have a lovely swing outside that I always sit on and listen to music. I can't go for more than a day without my vibe session, otherwise I get kinda depressed.

I saw you changed your name! I might still call you TnT, if that's ok. but Mint Mage is a nice name :3

Aww, it's okay Elles! I TOTALLY understand, I just recently had a bit of an art block myself. I was slowly slipping away from actually drawing and just watching people draw because the art I was making I felt wasn't very good. I begin to get busy with other things and I started to compare myself a little bit to the artists I was watching. Then my mom asked me why I do art and I told her because I enjoy it, simply because I enjoy it and I hope that maybe somebody else will enjoy it too. And I think that helped to think why I do it and so I have gotten back into it, I'm participating in Inktober and that is really getting me creative juice flowing and stuff. Yay! ;D

Good to hear the hurricane hasn't effected you much, and I hope the next one won't either! I mildly understand with tornadoes and stuff, it doesn't normally effect my area but I've seen it's effects in other places. So yeah stay safe my floridian friends! :)

hmmm music choices. For me it depends on what I'm doing like if I'm studying or doing math I like to listen to instrumental music like lofi, jazz, synthwave, and epic versions of video game music and tv shows from artists like Samuel Kim. Artists that I like to listen too in general would be these: MercyMe, Phil Wickham, Tobymac, Shama Mrema, Keith and Kristan Getty, Lauren Daigle, JJ Heller, Journey (well 80s music in general). And music from musicals like The Greatest Showman, La La land, and Lyle Lyle crocodile. Oh and a song that reminds me of Tech would be Brown Eyes by Keely Elise. Hope that gives you some music for your vibe session. (I should totally try that sometime. Lol)

Also do you have any other shows that that you like to watch besides Star Wars? And no I don't mind if you still call me TnT! I just thought I would try something else for a little bit. ;3

ugh, I'm so sorry I keep on disappearing. I am the WORST procrastinator.

art blocks are horrible! the way I get myself un-blocked is by watching hand-drawn animated shows. there's tons of series that animators started online that never went anywhere that are pretty inspiring art-wise.

as for shows, honestly, I don't watch that much TV. one really nice show that me and my friends watch is the Dragon Prince. it's got a neat animation style, a really unique world, and loveable characters. also a lovely antagonist who's in the same kind of antagonist genre that I always love. the fandom I just got into recently actually is a show, but I'm not sure if it'd be ok to discuss here on the CB--it's a little violent and has some other stuff. My family and I like to watch the Office. some of the humor is a bit mature but it's hilarious. we also enjoy watching star wars shows together, although they're a bit over my mother's head (she's a rom-com person. eugh.)

sometimes I feel a little bit guilty that I don't listen to Christian music. it's not that I don't like being a Christian or anything, it's just... I prefer more poetic songs about life and nature and songs from musicals. I mean, if I hear Christian music on the radio or something, I'm cool with it and I'll totally vibe with it, it's just I don't personally seek it out and listen to it. is that wrong?? I don't know, but I don't think it is. it's not like I listen to inappropriate songs or athiest music or death metal--sometimes the music I like occasionally has a bad word here and there, but I don't purposefully seek out songs with bad words. is that ok?? am I horrible??

sorry I got on a rant, lol. what about you? what have you been up to?

Oh boy how long have I been away? 26 days? Ahhh!?  ('0') Oh well I'm here now! Woooo!

Sooo I've been away for so long mostly because my family and I are trying to pack up and get ready to move once we find a house. Which has been stressful and exciting. And the week before the whole city had a boil advisory and that was fun.
I started dragon prince a while back and I remember liking it and I think I liked the elf girl but that's all I remember. I also got into a fandom recently! I watched it with my dad and I really liked it other than it also had some stuff. If it's alright with the admins I'll just say the name of it. I don't need to talk about it, it's called Stranger Things and I really like the music and nerdy references!
As for music I don't think you're a bad person for not listening to Christian music! I don't always listen to it either, sometimes I like to listen to it because it can help remind me of the truths of the Bible and about God. And your preference doesn't have to effect your faith! You can trust the Lord and still listen to other music sometimes. And I would love to hear what music you like to listen to! ;3
I am trying out a more simple art challenge this month. So instead of trying to draw every day I'm trying just doing every three days and I'm doing a Star Wars themed Huevember! (For the busy bees. :3) And I'm also only three (I think) days away from my Nutcracker recital! And while I'm having fun and my teacher is very nice she also tends to get a little more strict the closer we get to recital. But still very fun!  Any way how are you doing? ;3 (Oh I forgot to say that the first day of the art challenge art is below. Day one was yellow so I did Rey. Tho somewhere along the way her limbs became bendy tubes but I'm really happy with the face and the glow effect of the saber.)

Oh and one other thing you can do as far as music is talk with your parents about it! I find it very helpful to talk about whatever is bothering me because maybe my parents see or know something that I don't. And you can also always look in the scriptures and pray about it if you're still confused or concerned or something. Anyway bye! ;3

aaaaa I haven't been on here in forever either. life is just chaotic right now--very busy. our church does this thing every year where they set up the whole city of Bethlehem and have a ton of folks in there basically acting like they live there while a crowd of visitors walks through and is a part of the story. it's pretty neat, but setting up the city takes a lot of time.

your art looks spectacular! and honestly, the loose form of the arms and legs kinda make it look more natural. I've never really done an art challenge since I'm not too great at art, plus I'm a bad procrastinator. how does "huevember" work?

also, curious question. I know you're a Christian, so I was wondering--what are your personal doctrines/beliefs on current day stuff? you don't have to answer if you're not comfortable, I'm just interested in seeing your view.
