debates!
debates!
here's a thread where you can (hence the name) debate stuff. not any controversial topics obviously but things like-
whoa or woah? (i posted this one on the random thoughts/things thread)
when wearing a backpack, is it better to wear one or two straps?
is a hotdog a sandwich?
is cereal a soup?
what's the best pizza topping?
should macaroni and cheese be eaten with a spoon or fork?
and so on and so forth. feel free to add your own topics for people to debate, and you can also do a rebuttal (counter-argument) to someone's point as long as you keep it respectful. happy debating!

Does pineapple belong on pizza?
(My answer is yes)

My opinions on the things fallen leaf posted:
1. Whoa, not woah. Whoa appears more grammatical.
2. Two straps, and if you must wear one strap switch it so that you don't have back problems. I don't get why it's uncool to wear two straps, although I attend a small K-6 school where everybody keeps opinions about others being uncool to themselves (everyone should) so I don't get a lot of things.
3. I don't really know. I've never had one. They count as specialty sandwiches, like burgers.
4. Cereal is not a soup! If you don't wait forever, then the solid contents stay solid, and it's more of a prepared snack than a soup.
5. Either. But not a spork. Sporks' tines are too short for the "ork" to really count, to me.

Cool thread!
1. Love this question, I say "woah", it just feels more right, prob cause it's like constant vowel vowel consonant so it doesn't end opened and is closed, like it's finished/completed if that makes sense?
2. Two straps. Period. It's better for your back, and it's more stable, and it's more secure, and I never saw the point of one strap anyways (except that Ig it's easier to swing your backpack off). Apparently it's supposed to be "cool"?? Um, what? And why? ?? Anyways, I'm stubbornly biased against anything the media/stuff labels as "cool" (unless it actually seems useful/practical) so... yup.
3. I don't know. What's the definition of a sandwich again? Ok, then sure. And don't say the pieces have to be separated, because then Subway Subs wouldn't be sandwiches.
4. Ooh, never heard that one before! I just think of cereal as a tasty breakfast. It's not a soup. I mean, if you pour a bunch of milk into a bowl and put stuff inside, that doesn't automatically make it "soup", does it? It's like a puddle of water filled with leaves isn't soup.
5. I use both. This is actually a daily debate for me as I LOVE mac&cheese, especially Trader Joes mac&cheese, it's so cheesy and I can eat it at home and make it for myself!! And every time I make it and go to the utensil drawer, I'm like, spoon or fork spoon or fork (same thing happens when I eat dumplings)?? Usually, I just pick whichever's closest. They both work fine.
6. OH. MY. I just had my (awesome) friends over the day before yesterday and that was like the main topic of conversation the whole 5 hours (ppl kept bringing it up again)!! First, it came up because we were having pizza and were wondering what toppings to get, and we've had this debate before anyways on another playdate, so we incorporated it into sardines, hide and seek.. and we're kinda evenly split so.. but it was so fun!!
also, btw, I say NO. It makes the pizza soggy and smell like pineapple. Of course, I don't like Pineapple anyway... I just like cheese pizza or cheese with chicken and spinach or something.
debate:
dogs/cats?
big/small dogs?
also on a temporary hiatus kinda fyi!
(October 22, 2023 - 10:16 am)
Celine, here are some debate answers for your prompts.
1. CATZZ
2. Smaller dogs, because I'm a little afraid of big dogs (longgg story)
(Sam says "frggm". Frog game?)
(October 22, 2023 - 7:02 pm)
-whoa, absolutely. it just looks more aesthetic.
-two straps!
-a hot dog is not a sandwich. sandwiches involve slices, whereas a hot dog involves a bun and a whole sausage. this is great wisdom from the Ancient Book of Hot Dog Fun Facts, written by yours truly.
-cereal is a soup if you add milk, i suppose? but i never do, so my cereal is not a soup.
-the best pizza topping is... um... gosh i'd never thought much about that. perhaps just the cheese itself. i don't go in much for pizza toppings :0
-ah, a very important question. i say a fork. although somehow, i don't like mac and cheese. i'll put solid parmesan on macaroni pasta, but not liquid cheese.
-pineapple does NOT belong on pizza!! anyone who says it does is a Pizza Heretic!
more debate topics:
-is saturday better than sunday?
-when is a lima bean not a lima bean?
-of strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries, which is preferable?
-should the number 7 be written with a line through it?
(October 22, 2023 - 12:59 pm)
Saturday is so much better than Sunday.
Saturday feels longer than Sunday, and there's (usually) nothing you have to prepare for.
(October 22, 2023 - 5:40 pm)
Is Saturday better than Sunday? -Yes, because on Sunday it feels like a long drag, and the next day would be school.
When is a lima bean not a lima bean? -When it's digesting in your stomach. (Just joking)
Of strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries, which is preferable? -Raspberries, because they taste good AND it's cool how they're made up of many berries.
Should the number 7 be written with a line through it? -No, to old fashioned. It also looks really fancy, and I think I would be paranoid about making a perfect straight line through it.
Other debate topics:
French fries or tater tots?
Fantasy or Sci-Fi books?
Rain or shine?
(October 22, 2023 - 7:11 pm)
is saturday better than sunday?--indeed. mostly because on sunday im annoyed because the next day is monday, which is school. meh. however, if i have something good to look forward to on sunday, then perhaps my outlook would change.
when is a lima bean not a lima bean?--hm. i don't know lol.
of strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries, which is preferable?--blackberries, for sure. and then raspberries. but blueberries are just...eh. i like them just fine in pancakes or other things, but just plain--usually it's a hit or miss whether you get a mushy one or a normal one which is annoying.
should the number 7 be written with a line through it?--100%, it looks so much more aesthetic and it's more fun to draw. also i just like it for no reason.
some questions for you all:
would living forever be terrible or not?
are books better than movies?
does everyone have an accent?
pizza or pasta? (bonus, cold or hot pizza?)
and....is a smoothie technically just baby food?
(October 27, 2023 - 8:34 am)
CATS FOREVER! I'm very much a cat person. I think that if you must have a dog, you should have a small dog, because most dogs have boundless energy and love to jump on people, and the jumping is better when the dog isn't gigantic. Although it's also a bit ridiculous to have a small dog.
I like Saturday more than Sunday. Normally Sunday is my "structured day for visiting my grandparents", which means that we don't plan to doing anything except for that and so I end up lying under the bed dreading the week. I like raspberries quite a lot. The only imperfect thing about them is that they have seeds. Strawberry hulls taste horrible, and blueberries are supertart if they're too small. And whether or not you cross your 7s depends on your handwriting; I don't, but I think it's fine if you do and sometimes I cross 7s when I'm writing numbers in addresses and things. Not in math problems.
On the topic of numbers: 1 or | ? (The second thing is supposed to be a 1 written without the top thing and bottom thing, which I use for doing math and at school, but not at home.) And do 4s have a closed top (like the one that the CB font makes) or an open top (like an upside-down h?)
(October 22, 2023 - 8:00 pm)
To fallen leaf's questions:
- woah
- two straps. it's safer and better for you in general...and honestly, I don't really see anyone wearing a backpack with one strap unless one of them is broken
- according to the dictionary...yep, hotdog is a sandwich
- no, cereal is not a soup
- hmmm....barbeque chicken? but pineapple's nice haha
- eh, i'd use a fork
To celine's:
- I like both! But if I had to choose, dogs.
- Hmm...medium dogs, if that's an option.
To poinsettia's:
- I think both are equal
- when it's in a different language
- blackberries, by personal preference
- I have never written it with a line through it, and I'm not starting now
To cloud bunny's:
- depends which quality is better, but if both are the same quality, then french fries, but I like both in general
- fantasy books!!!
- hmm...rain, actually, but not pouring rain, just a light drizzle
To Seadragon's:
- |, or the 1 without the top or bottom, since it's quicker, but if there will also be letters and such along with it, I might add the top and bottom to differentiate it from for example, the letter l
- I do closed top for 4
Some more topics:
- Ability to fly or invisibility?
- Soda or juice?
- Speed or endurance?
- Poems or stories (if you were forced to choose)?
- Privacy or publicity?

In response to me:
- Dogs. Yes, I love cats too, but dogs have been in my life MUCH longer (my WHOLE family owns dogs: my parents/me, my grandparents, my (other) grandpa, my aunt, my grandma's-sister's-grandkids, my grandma's-sister's-other-grandkids..). And also, they're just frankly, better. :D
- Big dogs. All the way through. As the owner of a humongous dog, who looks scary but is in actuality the sweetest most adorable-est thing ever (I say this a lot, but he's never bitten anyone once, and he loves to squeeze himself into the smallest spaces, and he loves to laze around and do nothing, and he's so patient, he was my parents' first child, when my brother and I were born we would perform "surgery" and other stuff on him (I feel horrible watching the videos as we basically whack him with scalpels), and all he does is maybe move his head once in a while, and look vaguely annoyed, and the only time he's ever aggressive is when coyotes come too close to our house or something), I can say with absolute certainty, big dogs. I'm scared of small dogs, with only two exceptions (my best friend's dog, who's more a cat than a dog, and just walks around the house calmly and doesn't bother anyone and is rly sweet, and my aunt's dog, who IS energetic, but whenever he sees me, he drops down and exposes his belly and is literally the only dog I know who actually loves belly rubs, and he's so sweet, and he's not energetic at all with me unless I want him to be), all the other millions of small (and medium!) dogs I know? They're way too energetic and have sharp pointy teeth and don't know when to stop and I can't make them stop and basically they're scary. Yup.
To Poinsettia:
- Saturday is better. Sunday I have to go to Chinese school. Ugh. Though Ig it's cool though.
- What's a Lima bean again? Hehee.. I actually don't know.
- Strawberries. I don't care much for the others (blueberries are fine sometimes though).
- No. 7 is just 7, why do you need a line again??
To Cloud BOO!nny:
- I think I like both?? Tater tots are some sort of.. potato ball thingy, right?? How bout hash browns then?
- ooh, I like both! Fantasy, though, if I had to say.
- I ALSO like both! Depends on my mood, Ig. Unless I'm playing soccer. I love playing soccer in the rain. I despise it when it's like 100 degrees out. :)
To Seadragon:
- I use both. I use 1 more though, it helps with differentiating.
- I write 4 open, it's just easier.
To Moon Wolf:
- hmm.. neither Ig? I'd rather be able to, like, idk... have absolute dream control every night (slow and steady wins the race!)! Then I could do both, on my own terms, and they won't have to come with catches.
- Juice juice juice!! I do NOT like soda!! Ugh. And when I go to parties they basically only have soda bc oh, isn't that all you kids drink? Blech.
- Endurance is what I have more of currently (though I'm pretty speedy too). Or.. not as much endurance. More like sheer willpower and self-awareness and daydreams are what keep me running. But I'd still choose endurance though. It's so much better than speed. I mean, seriously. Do I have to explain?
- Poems!! Poems are stories with more freedom. They're easier to write than stories, but you leave with, in essence, the same thing. Poems can be anything. I think stories are more organized/trapped. Also, assume you mean prose?
- I'm a big fan of privacy. So yup.
Is that everyone? Well then, some more topics:
- best condiment(s) on hot dogs? Ketchup or plain are both fine for me.
- best chicken place? I love lots.
- McDonald's or In N' Out (or something else)? Both, depending. SOO unhealthy though :)
- Wearing socks to bed? Nope thank you.

fallen leaf
whoa or woah?: I prefer whoa, but both are fine.
One or two straps: I usually use two.
Hot dog: I don't know. But if a hot dog is a sandwich, then a taco is a sandwich because they're basically the same thing but a taco has thinner bread. If a taco is a sandwich, then a burrito is a sandwich because a burrito is a closed-end taco. If a taco is a sandwich, then an enchilada is also a sandwich because it's just a wrapped-up taco with sauce.
Cereal: I think so. It's a food with a liquid and bits of food floating around in it.
Pizza topping: I really like black olives.
Macaroni and cheese: I prefer to eat it with a spoon.
Celine
Dogs/cats: Dogs
Big/small dogs: Big dogs.
Poinsettia
Saturday/Sunday: Saturday bc I can procrastinate
Lima beans: When it is orange
Berries: I prefer strawberries.
7s: I don't, but it's fine either way.
Cloud Bunny
French fries or tater tots: Tater tots
Fantasy or sci-fi: Fantasy
Rain or shine: Rain!
Seadragon
1 or |: 1
Open or closed 4: Open
Moon Wolf
Flying or invisibility: Invisibility
Soda or juice: Juice
Speed or endurance: Endurance
Poems or stories: Stories
Publicity or privacy: Privacy
Pineapple on pizza: Of course it belongs on pizza.

when wearing a backpack, is it better to wear one or two straps? y'all I'm the only person on this thread who wears one strap... I know it's horrible for your back :/ but it's so much easier to take on and off and stuff. I didn't know it was "cool" I just do it because it's quicker and you can actually access stuff in the pockets...
is a hotdog a sandwich? YES
is cereal a soup? YES
should the number seven be written with a line through it? I had to re-train my handwriting to write "z"s with a line through them because I was getting them confused with "2"s when doing math, so now I can't write my "7"s with the line...
