I've been acting a lot lately. It's not that easy, though no one understands that. You have to get right into the spirit of it, and into the personality of the character. It's easy to do Portia from the Merchant of Venice, somehow. She's so witty and fun, and smart - pretending to be her is great. I don't know how Shakespeare managed to be so brilliant. How did he create such amazing characters?

I found an interesting stone today - it was dark blue, almost like a sapphire. Maybe it was a sapphire, although Kaspar says that couldn't possibly happen. But then Kaspar always thinks he knows everything. I put it on my desk, and I've been spending a few minutes looking at it. It's beautiful. It seems like something out of a legend. 

Ever

"Alright, let's do it," I say, and we skid to a quick stop. I get in position ready to race. "Ready? 3... 2... 1... go!" I kick off and start in the lead. Hopefully I stay in the lead, but Quinn is much faster than I expected.

*Quinn*

*Ever starts off in the lead. Man, he's just so fast… How will I ever beat him? Nah, I'm kidding. I speed up a little and zoom in front of him, spinning around and waving at him. Then I spin back around - I don't want to crash into anyone - and hope to stay in the lead. There's plenty of time for Ever to catch up. We're only about halfway to the other side of the rink.*

Hehe we (and by we, we mean Chaser and Jay and their lovely irl friend who is also a CBer, Interrobang. for those of you who don't know, we develop our AEs together and we share the rights to them, although Jay uses them the most) came up with two new AEs, putting our AE count to 4 AEs.

Name: Verdant, although most people call them Dante, and the people close to them call them Vey or Vere.

Age: 15ish, maybe 16. Not final yet.

Gender & Pronouns: AMAB, nonbinary, they/them.

Appearance: They're tall, with medium brown skin and deep amber brown eyes. Their hair is dark brown, short, and spiky, and the tips of their hair are dyed deep green. They've got multiple ear peircings and wear a number of friendship bracelets. They're almost always wearing their leather jacket, and they've often got leaves and other bits of plants in their hair. They will sometimes have vines or other plants growing on and around them. Can often be seen carrying a sketchbook and pencils/other art supplies.

Personality: Very shy and sometimes a little sheepish. Very kind. Will never lie unless to protect themself or others. Introverted, prefers to have a few very good relationships over a whole lot of lesser ones. Loves plants and making art, very artistic. Likes the rain and water. Has keen intuition, good at reading body language, always seems to know where everybody else in the room is, and what they're doing, even if they can't see them.

Skills/abilities/powers:  Has plant-related powers---capable of controlling them, making them grow, listening to them. A strong swimmer. Good at art and dabbles in all kinds, although they particularly like sketching & painting, ceramics (especially the wheel), and working with epoxy resin. Plays the synth and the ukelele.

Shipping: Yes, with boys and NB/genderqueer/agender/etc. Also looking for friends for them.

Likes: Plants, the rain/rainy days, water, swimming, nature, making art, creative writing, birds, honesty.

Dislikes: Unnecessary lying, people who are jerks just because they can, pistachios.

Age: Like Vey, 15ish, maybe 16.

Gender & Pronouns: They don't have a gender. They don't feel like any of the gender identity words define them. If they had to use a "label," they'd use gender agnostic or gender androgynous. They couldn't care less what people percieve their gender as--people can think of them as male, female, neither, both, and they don't care. Similarly, any pronouns work for them. People could use nounselfs for them and they wouldn't care. They were assigned female at birth, and they look sorta female-ish, so some people might use she/her for them, which they don't mind. You might also see us CBers use she/her for Torch sometimes too.

Appearance: It's hard to tell their exact height, because they're in a wheelchair, but they're pretty short. They've got spastic cerebral palsy. CP affects everybody differently, and for them it affects their legs and only their legs. They're very capable and agile and will ask for help if they need it, but they rarely need it. They've got an undercut, and the long side comes about down to their chin, and their hair is dyed bright colors, oranges and reds and scarlet, with a little hot pink and neon yellow. Also freckles, on their face and arms. They're often seen with a big grin, and they usually wear sweatpants and a t-shirt, sometimes with a sweatshirt. They use a stunt wheelchair instead of your typical wheelchar---it's smaller and lighter and sturdy, and it's been modified with neon highlights and holographic flames.

Personality: Fierce, ferocious, independent, confident. Never backs down from a challenge. Likes FIRE! Hates pity. Very aware of their limits yet likes to push them, knows when to ask for help and will always turn down help if somebody offers it without being asked.

Skills/abilites/powers: They've got abnormal strength and stamina (especially in their arms), and they're very fast and agile and just as capable as a person without a disability in their wheelchair. They're rather talented at both sledge hockey and wheelchair floor hockey, and they're a freestyle wheelchair athlete--basically, they do all sorts of stunts like a freestyle skateboarder would, but in their wheelchair. They're also a rather talented percussionist, good at coding, and also pretty good at archery, although they don't do it competitively.

Likes: Their wheelchair, fire, cheese, plants, cosplay, making art (specifically digital art and working with textiles and epoxy resin), making (loud) music, sleeping.

Dislikes: Being patronized/pitied.

Other: Lactose intolerant.

I laugh, speeding up quicker than before. I stay next to Quinn for a bit, my hand brushing hers. I wink at her so she knows it was on purpose and then speed ahead. 10 feet away. I'm ahead. 5. I slow down a little. 3. Neck in neck. 0. And the match is tied!

"Ah, a tie." I say. "Let's go again. This time, if I win, I get to take you on another date next week. Do we have a deal?" I'm so not smooth, and I'm super embarassing. I don't know why Quinn would want to be seen in public with me. But I really like her, so I might as well flirt. We ARE dating, after all!

*Ever catches up to me, brushes my hand, and winks; I stop myself from blushing. He's so ridiculous. And adorable.*

*I keep a good pace, and eventually Ever and I are right next to each other as we near the end. It looks like it will be a tie - and yes! It's a tie.*

*"Let's go again," says Ever. "This time, if I win, I get to take you on another date next week. Do we have a deal?"*

*This time I can't stop myself from blushing. I probably look like an idiot as I stutter, "*D-deal!*" And smile stupidly. But I manage to compose myself and say, "*Ready… set… go!*" I take off at a slightly slower pace than last time, secretly hoping I do lose.*

Name: Arum Lily, but she prefers Arum -- only certain people are allowed to call her Arum Lily, and she absolutely hates Lily.

Gender/Pronouns: demigirl, she/they

Approximate Age: 15

Appearance: She has cinnamon skin, and brown eyes. Their hair is about mid-back length the dyed color of flames — a mix of gold, orange, and red. A favorite outfit of hers is a green varsity jacket with an A on it, blue jeans rolled up at the ankle, and white tennis shoes. They have a scar on the right side of their face, from just below their cheekbone to their jawbone.

Personality: extremely bold and outgoing, brash, fun-loving, energetic, stubborn and determined. Very rebellious, hates school and authority figures, loves making friends. Adventurous, thrill-seeking, definitely a daredevil, headstrong, can & will fight you, argumentative, always honest even if it hurts (literally CANNOT lie for the life of her, though she can be a tad sarcastic), blatant disregard for rules, reckless

Likes: rain/thunderstorms, the humanities (history and English), exploring, hiking, ancient history/ruins, road trips, upbeat music (80s music, alt rock, a bit of EDM), playing the drums, mythology/folklore, fireworks, roller coasters, hiking

So, that's Arum! I'm also retiring my AE Koi -- it was really hard for her to interact with other AEs, which is my favorite part of having AEs. 

@Chaser & Jay and Interrobang, I think Torch and Arum would make either really good friends or rivals/frenemies? They seem kind of similar (even their full names are similar, oh my gosh--) What do you think? 

Dragonfly's POV:

Everyone in this treehouse is so annoying. Firefly won't stop talking about this AE named Shyla that she met. Caddisfly is worrying about...something, and Alderfly's lecturing us about...something. I'm kind of trying to ignore them, so I'm not paying attention to what they're saying exactly. Butterfly's running around, trying to get Forest Nymph to give them candy. May keeps trying to get me to model for her painting, but no WAY is that going to happen. And Damselfly...well, she's the worst of them. She keeps bothering me, informing me of everything that she does better than me. Sigh.

Oh, how I miss the days when it was just Firefly and me!

Callum

I'm at work, making coffee as usual. We're not too busy today. I wish Ronin would stop by… but come to think of it, I don't really have any friends other than him and my siblings. Not that I want friends. That's pathetic.

But I am a little lonely right now. Making coffee is easy, but monotonous. This is the seventh latte I've made in an hour… and there's three hours in my shift left to go.

Sigh.
