I am in
I am in serious need of help here. I've been homeschooled my entire life, and I decided to do band at the High School this year, and I took percussion, and Maybe Now I am Really Regretting my Choices.
Because I have no social skills.
And not a lot of percussion experience.
And also I am in percussion with 8 other boys who I don't really know.
And somehow they are very, very good at breaking things, like drumsticks, cowbells, an outlet, and eventually my sanity.
If you guys have ANY Social Situation Tips, PLEASE TELL ME I NEED THEM VERY MUCH. So far my method of dealing is standing quietly in a corner and not talking to anyone, which as much as I hate to admit it is kind of lonely and boring. So.
Heheh yeppp.

My friends usually say I have good social skills, and tbh I'm reallny shy. I think what you should do is if they're talking about something, anything really, pitch in at one point. And then start pitching in more and more. They'll get warmed up to you very quickly. And it only takes a day or two!
talk to just one. Have a conversation. I remember having a class with all girls and one boy, and I didn't know him at all, so I decided "hey, why not talk to him?" So I had a conversation with him, and we were friends for the rest of the year.
So just one conversation could get you a friend! And if the rest of them are already friends, then it could get you a bunch of new friends.
and for the breaking things thing... well knowing me, I'd just tell them not to, but don't do that until you are friends with them. If that's what you'd tell them, of course.
If you don't want to be friends with them, then it's always nice to be friends with the teacher(that is- if there is a teacher). My first period class last year was full of people I didn't know, and i was very quiet around them...
But not the teacher!
so, anyways, those are my tips. I think they'll work, but I'm not in highschool yet and I've never been homeschooled.
One second, my friend, I'll call her Pineapple (it's her nickname), is homeschooled, and I met her in an acting class. What she did was just talk to me and the rest of the classmates. We talked about similar interests (like books!) and our lives.
And lastly, just be nice. Say hi when you meet for percussion. Ask how someone is doing. It will help.
One more thing- it's so cool you're doing percussion!
So I really hope that helps!
