AE/Captcha Ball!!! For the summer solstice but we're a tad late. Oh well!! Coral and Jewel will describe where we're having it, Stella will describe the food, Shaow will describe the activities, and Vixen will pop in and out. Then I'll put up the form to fill out, they'll all fill it out, and we'll post!! Aaaand begin. §Okay!!! So basically it's this great big lake surrounded by woods.§ •The woods are magical and oftentimes fairies come to hang out. The lake is quite warm and has some very nice otters that live in it.• §We're starting in the late afternoon so that we can see the fireflies!§ •And also experience the gorgeous sunset.• §There are some little picnic shelters where you can hang out and there's also a couple fire pits where we can have campfires!§ •We hope to see you there!• ¥Alright, now I'm gonna describe the food.¥ yummm. brgrs. ¥We will indeed have burgers as well as hot dogs and bratwursts. These will all be in vegan and vegetarian forms as well. We will have fruit salad, green salad, pesto pasta salad, and potato salad. Then of course all the chips that Dolphin could find at the grocery store, a couple veggie platters, some cheese and crackers, and many different kinds of dips, for example hummus, salsa, queso, and salmon dip. For dessert we will have an ice cream bar (with vegan options) some random cupcakes that Coral and Jewel are gonna make, and Shaow's patented chocolate cream pie, which is the best pie you'll ever taste. If you'd like to bring food you can, but it's not required.¥ »Thanks Stella. Now my turn. For activities there's obviously the lake for swimming, but we will also be providing kayaks, paddle boards, and rowboats.« float »Ah yes and many, MaNy floaties. We will also have a diving board. In the woods there's some nice swings hanging from some of the trees. You can also climb the trees (they don't mind) and play hide and seek or tag. When we arrive at the party, the food is all over the floor. I see Liddy fly away from the mess. I smile.
Jon is walking next to me. I usually keep my head down, but I can feel how tense he is, so I look at his face. Despite how extroverted he usually is, he's pale and looks nervous. He looks around and grabs my hand. Poor Jon, I've never seen him this nervous. I'm not completely sure what he's nervous for, but he's like a brother to me, so it hurts me as well.
Usually I'm the nervous one, so I know I won't have good advice, but I try to talk to him anyways. "Jon, are you okay?" He tightens his grip on my hand. And then relaxes it. He's okay, that's good. "Just make some friends. We're both new, I'm sure we can find some people to talk to." He nods absently, and drops my hand.

There aren't many people, but it's enough.
I have no idea why I'm nervous. Opal seems fine, and she's always shy. When I drop her hand, I walk over to talk to Shaow, but no words come out of my mouth. I try talking to others, too. Still, I can't.
I wander around for a while. I'm not completely sure where Opal went, she's probably talking to someone. I wish Star or Kalta were her. Even Brandandon would'be made good company. For some reason, I'm never shy around CBers. This is the first time I've ever been like this. I see someone in the distance.
I think it's Geniveve Plum. I know she's an introvert, but I decide to talk to her. I don't care if I get yelled at in some argument, but I need something to do. And I need to be able to talk to people. Why not take a challenge?

I wander aimlessly through the party's setting, watching as Liddy knocks over a table — not one of the ones with a lot of food on it, thank heavens and my lucky stars, because Abcde gets more annoying the more mess Liddy makes. Really, it's only a few of the harder, more sturdy fruits, like bananas and whole pineapples, that have fallen at all. It will take less than a minute to repair the damage.
However, repairing the damage inflicted by hyperactive toddlers in the form of small, yellow pocket dragons is not my hobby or responsibility, so I walk away, far enough that I can't see anyone I know, or even hear any of Liddy's squealing. I move far away from the lake as well. I don't have a fear of water the way Sienna does, but it still makes me uncomfortable. Water related accidents can cause a lot of death, pain, and expensive damage. I see a few fairies, but avoid them, because fairies are annoying. Of course, they deserve respect, just like any other being, but that doesn't mean I have to talk to them. I have never in my life met an introverted fairy, and it doesn't seem like they exist, and I don't want to discuss anything with talkative, twinkly, miniature people with wings.
There is still nothing that even closely resembles an indoor structure, not even a gazebo, and yet, I don't feel unhappy or uncomfortable. The trees cast cool, calming shadows over me, and the sound of the faint wind in the leaves lulls me nearly to sleep. I feel as though I could step right out of my body and become a floating soul, a spirit of the wind who blows gently past the faces of other people, comforting them wordlessly. It would be a good life, to be a wind spirit, I think.
Just as I am readying myself for this new chapter of my life, however, a nervous looking boy walks up behind me. All thoughts of an easy life as a wind spirit are abandoned immediately. I'm pretty sure the hairs on the back of my neck are standing up. Everything will be alright, though, just so long as he doesn't try to talk.
Then he talks, horror of horrors. What have I done to deserve this?
"Hi."
I remember what Abcde told me about her first conversation at an AE party, a story that she told on one of the rare occasions when she thought that it might be a not terrible idea to be a good sister for once. She is a person who normally likes talking to people, but who got super nervous and walked up to the most introverted person she could find and started up an extremely awkward conversation about veganism. This is not a path I want to go down. It is one of the topics that can make me start shouting, and I just recently got over a cold, so my throat is rather sore and shouting about animal rights isn't exactly good for a sore throat.
"Hello," I say, turning around with what I hope is both a fierce and friendly expression which both expresses the fact that humans are not good but I am still polite to them. "I am Geniveve Plum and I would rather not discuss your dietary preferences right now."
I think I did very well with socializing. Sienna would be very proud of me. I only wish I had a mirror so that I could know with 100% certainty that my face is not a contorted grimace and that it is saying what I want it too. Because contorted grimaces are not polite, and I would like to be the better person in the world and express kindness to everyone, even people who interrupt my daydreams about being a wind spirit and decide to talk to me for some reason. Was I emitting a friendly aura? Oh, I hope not. Sienna emits a friendly aura, and it makes people LIKE them, which is the last thing in the world that I want to happen.
If I was a wind spirit, I am certain that none of this would be happening.

•I'm standing next to Shaow when Abcde arrives. They're so happy with her, I can't help but smile. I guess I'm the welcoming committee now, which I'm fine with. I keep an eye out for Stargirl, but mostly concentrate on welcoming everybody to the party and giving them a thirty second explanation of the grounds. Then someone (Sienna maybe?) greets me and says "The party looks lovely! Where's the food?" I smile. "I hope you enjoy the party! The food is just over there, underneath the white tents."•

¥Oh NO. Someone has knocked over one of the tables. I scramble to pick it up before someone sees or, god forbid, steps in it. I finally got my computer synced up to the sound system, so there's music playing around the lake. I'm picking up chips when someone starts helping me. "Thanks." I mutter briefly and then dump my handful into a garbage can. "Oh and welcome to the party." Whoever it is nods and says...¥

Geniveve Plum turns around slowly. She looks at me, and I watch as she tries to make her face look friendly and talkative. It only half works, and her eyebrows are crunched together in effort.
"Hello," she says. "I am Geniveve Plum and I would rather not discuss your dietary preferences right now." I can't suppress a smile and a small laugh. "I don't think that's on my list of things to talk about," I say, a little less nervous.
I remember what Red Starlight told Opal before she came- to make friends and fake energy. How can someone fake energy? Wouldn't they have no energy? I remember laughing at the advice and Red Starlight saying that I may need to try it. I look back at Geniveve Plum and consider whether to keep talking to her or walk away.
Easy. I'm gonna keep talking.
"Did you know the first dinosaur bone ever found was a thigh bone?"
That's something I would normally say to CBers. When I welcome new CBers I just... ask them everything. What's their favorite candy or color or type of wood, and I say it in my usual tone- excited. Being with AEs is so much harder. CBers generally don't answer my questions- which is part of why I ask them- but AEs really don't have much of a choice.
Before Geniveve Plum responds, I say "Sorry." I don't say or do anything else.
Maybe I should've walked away.

I walk around for a bit, watching the other AEs. No one seems to want to talk to me, and I'm fine with that. If Kalta and Lissa were here, they'd be talking to every AE here, and have so many friends. Sometimes I wish i were more like them.
I see Stella cleaning up the table Liddy knocked over. I run over to help. She thanks me and welcomes me to the party. I nod, and tell her, "I'm Opal. I'm kinda new around here." I put my hand out for her to shake.
Maybe I can have a friend by the time the party is over. I internally cross my fingers.

I take it, and we teleport to the party. I immediately spot Coral, and rush towards her.
"Coral! Uh, Cookie and Milke probably aren't coming due to being grounded, Lynn and Void might be coming later, I probably messed up something in that sentence, but I'm pretty sure that's right...now that the technicalities are over, it's been so long since I last saw you! I missed you so much! "

I step out of the car, balancing my pie in the crook of one arm. I turn back to look at Quill, who's rolled the window down to give their usual spiel.
"Have fun, be good, don't eat too much, and don't forget to thank the hosts!"
Most of this is really directed at Ace, but I nod anyway. "We will! Thanks for driving us!" They drive away, waving as they go.
I turn my gaze to my siblings. Ace looks excited and impatient, ready to go see people. Harper looks nervous, as always, Basil perched on her shoulder. I smile at her. "This'll be fun! I promise."
She nods half-heartedly. "Fun, maybe not. I'm hoping for bearable."
"Let's go!" Ace bursts out.
We walk through the gate, and I survey the area. It's nice, very picturesque, with tables of food and a large lake. It's not the ocean, but it looks like fun anyway. There are already some people milling around, and I see Sienna nearby, talking to Coral around some other AEs.
Ace has already made a beeline for the snack table, Harper trailing behind, so I walk over to where the other AEs are standing. I wave as I draw near.
"Hello!" I say. "Hi, Sienna."
"Hi, Bean!" They smile, and I smile in return. I really can't wait to get to know them.
I address my next words to Coral. "Hey, Coral! Thanks so much for having us, this is such a nice place."
"Any time!" she replies. She gestures toward my pie. "You can put that over on the food tables! Under the white tents."
"Great, thanks!" I look at Sienna. "Want to come with?" They nod, and we set off toward the white tents. "So, how are you liking the party?"
Ace~
I'm not really listening to Quill, bouncing on the balls of my feet. I just want to get going! We haven't been to a party in forever. Are they really still talking?
I wave as they drive away, then have to wait again as Bean reassures Harper, who looks nervous. She's always nervous for parties! This has been established!
"Let's go!" I say, and finally we do. The place looks nice--trees, fireflies, a lake, and white tents. Food! Awesome!
I head right for the tables, glancing over my shoulder to make sure Harper's following. I'm keeping an eye on her since Bean's meeting up with Sienna.
There's an insane assortment of chips at the tables, and I grab a plate, offering one to Harper. She takes it, and I immediately start loading mine with whatever I can grab.
"Okay, now let's go find some people!"

I follow Bean and Ace through the gate into a nice clearing with a lake. It's very pretty, and it looks like there might be some places in the trees where I could curl up and read. That can be my backup plan, if talking to people doesn't work--and it usually doesn't.
Bean heads off to find Sienna, and Ace heads for the snack table. I follow him. Ace said he'd keep me company, like Bean usually does, but that doesn't really bode well for me. He likes to insert himself in conversations with anyone he can find, and I like to do exactly the opposite.
Basil flutters off my shoulder, chirping "byee!" before flying off to join the other CAPTCHAs. I feel a pang of nerves for her--this is her first party--but she doesn't seem to care.
We arrive at the snack tables and Ace hands me a plate, proceeding to fill his with an unhealthy amount of chips. I think about reprimanding him, but that's more Bean or Quill's area, so I don't say anything. Instead, I put some fruit salad on my own plate.
"Okay, now let's go find some people!" Ace says, pumping his fist.
I feel my stomach sinking and shake my head. "Um, you go ahead. I think I'll stay here for a minute."
He pauses, then shrugs. "Alright! Let me know if you need anything!" He leaves in search of people to talk to.
I shrink towards the edge of the tent, popping a strawberry in my mouth. I see Bean on the other side of the clearing, chatting easily with Sienna and Coral. Ace is wandering around, eating chips and stopping to say hi to different people. I wish I could be more like them. Even Basil seems to have already made some friends. Why can't I just talk to people?
I eat more of my fruit and sigh. Maybe if I stand here and look pathetic enough, someone will talk to me. If not, I can always escape with my book.

My first party! I'm so excited! I can't wait to meet more CAPTCHAs and make new friends! I hope they like to fly!
As soon as we're inside the gate, I fly off of Harper's shoulder. There are some dragon CAPTCHAs over by the tent! One is rainbow colored and one is yellow! New friends!
I fly over to them. "Hi! My name is Basil! Your scales are so pretty! Let's be friends! Do you like to fly?"

When Geniveve Plum asks me about what I think about how smart dinosaurs are, I'm surprised. Not just at the question or how social she's being, but also at myself. I feel like This conversation is getting me more used to AEs, and I'm starting to act like my usual self.
I am confused, she asked me a ton of questions before this one. And inturruped me before responded. I go back and forth in my head about whether or not to answer her other questions and the new one, or just the new one, and decide on the new one.
I remember reading a book Red Starlight gave to me about two unusual kids who become friends. There's a chapter about how one thinks they're super dumb, and they tell the other about it. The other is smart and tells him about how dinosaurs were supposedly dumb, and yet they ruled the earth for millions of years.
"Well," I say. "I think it's kinda impossible for them to have been dumb. I mean, didn't they rule earth for millions of years? They've gotta be smarter than any common animal. I can't see any of the animals you mentioned ruling the world. Humans, sure we do rule the world. But dinosaurs knew how to be more defensive than us. Heck, they supposedly didn't have many moral issues, so they must've been smart to know how to use their defenses. They weren't very scared, either. They got food so easily, and knew exactly where to look for it."
I'm not sure whether I'm smart or ridiculous, but Starr has told me im the former. Then again, she's the most negative out of all of the AEs that Red Starlight has. I don't care if I'll be thought of as weird, but I smile a big smile. I'm back to my usual self. My usual AE self. Not CBer social me, but AE friendly, talkative me.
"What about you?" I ask. "How do you think they compare?"

The book Jon talked about is a real book- Freak the Mighty. I 10000000% recommended it! It's a great read and different from a lot of the books on the CB, but I think you guys will like it!

We reach the tents, and I place my pie on a table as Sienna grabs some grapes.
"Well, I only arrived a few minutes before you," they say, "so I can't say for sure, but it looks wonderful. There's not quite as many people as I was expecting. I haven't been to a party before, although I've been an AE for nearly half a year. But it seems quite nice. The food's spectacular."
I nod in agreement. There's quite a wide array of food in front of us. I sample some cheese and crackers, then respond. "Mmm, that is good. It does seem like a lovely party, though you're right, it's smaller than usual." I smile. "Who knows? Maybe that'll be good. Too many people can be overwhelming. My little sister, Harper, gets really nervous around crowds. You have siblings, right? Geniveve and Abcde?"

"I'm Opal. I'm new around here." ¥The AE who helped me with the cleanup holds her hand out for me to shake. I stand up, brush me hands in my knees, and shake it firmly. "Nice to meet you. Thanks so much for helping me with the cleanup." "You're welcome." She smiles shyly. Ah-ha. She wants a friend but is pretty shy. Ok then. "Do you want to go kayaking out on the lake? You can't see it, but on the far side there's this creek we can go up that doesn't move too quickly." I smile at her and wait for a response.¥

•Stargirl runs up to me. "Coral! Uh, Cookie and Milke probably aren't coming due to being grounded, Lynn and Void might be coming later, I probably messed up something in that sentence, but I'm pretty sure that's right...now that the technicalities are over, it's been so long since I last saw you! I missed you so much!" "Oh I missed you too!" I throw my arms around her and abandon the welcoming post. I figure everyone can figure it out on their own. "You'll love this place. Back in the woods there's an old porch swing hanging from a tree, and the lake's super warm, and if you want we can climb a tree later and watch the sunset!" I'm so happy to see her that I kiss her gently on the cheek, surprising myself and probably her, judging from the look on her face.•

§Yay! New friends! Besides Liddy now there's a budgie named Basil. "I love to fly! Oh! If you follow me there's a bunch of trees and their branches are all spread out but like they kinda go all over... anyway, they're super fun to fly through and do tricks on if you have a prehensile tail." I glance at Basil. "Oops. Sorry. But since you're smaller than both me and Liddy you can probably fly through smaller spaces!"§

"I'd love to watch the sunset with you!"
I awkwardly smile and hope I'm not too awkward. Thiiis is harder than it looks.
"Oh, I have something to show you! Come with me, I think they're somewhere here.."
After a long while of hunting, I spot Glitch, Glide, and Dusky.
"There y'all are! Coral, this is Glitch, Glide, and Dusky. Glitch and Glide were technically Cookie and Milke's and are now Viria's and MXXLIGHT's, but I was allowed to take them to the party! Glitch...uhh, Glitch- Why- What- Oh my gods if you're having a panic attack I swear to the gods-"
Glitch shakes themself off. "I'm not having a panic attack. Simply wondering when this party will be over. I have a world domination attempt on an SMP, specifically the Chaos SMP, to do. Effing gods."
I awkwardly laugh. "Sorry, Glitch likes to play Minecraft with Faye and their friends, and, uh...world domination...heh, that's one of their things. Glide is antisocial and quite, and Dusky is very cuddly and adorable."
