THE AWARDS SEASON
THE AWARDS SEASON
Hi, everyone! Gosh, it's been a long time since I've created a thread... or posted...
Ahem. Anyways.
Awards season is upon us, and here with his thoughts is Orson!
Hello.
This thread was actually Orson's idea--
No it wasn't.
Yes, it was.
No, it wasn't.
Okay, fine, it wasn't your idea.
What are you talking about? Of course it was my idea!
Sigh. Why don't you just take over?
With pleasure. Finally, there will be some enlightening conversation here on the Chatterbox!
Let's start with the Golden Globes, because they're the only nominations that have been announced so far.
I'll start with a sad piece of news for all my fans out there in CB-land... The Sugarmill Conspiracy was not nominated for a Golden Globe. Yes, I know, it's very sad. Try to hold back the tears, will you? Someday the world will know just how great I am...
So. Streaming services really hit it big this year, accounting for 34 of 55 Globe bids. Impressive.
"Mank" has recieved SIX NOMINATIONS! I truly believe these are all well deserved -- the film is almost as good as one of mine.
I'm actually quite surprised at how many good things have recieved nods, especially considering what a WILD year 2-0-2-0 was for movie releases.
Norman Lear's getting the Burnett Award for Lifetime Achievement. Good on him. I shall take a photo of him receiving it and glue my face onto his.
"The Prom" and "Hamilton" were nominated for Best Musical/Comedy... I hope "Hamilton" wins.
Gosh, how long are you going to talk for?
Fine. I'll stop. Uh... So, what do you think, dear readers?
This isn't a magazine column, Orson.
Shut up, Bakerloo, and let me finish. This was my idea.
Okay.
What are you excited to see get a nomination? Who do you hope wins? Should I wear green or blue? Discuss!
Yep, what he said. Awards season is one of our favorite times of the year, so let's get discussing.

Wow, I didn't realize that the Golden Globes nominations were already out!
Chadwick Boseman was nominated for best performance by an actor... *sigh* Rest in peace
Hamilton was nominated for best motion picture!! I hope it wins!!
Disney Pixar's Soul was nominated for best animated motion picture, along with The Croods: A New Age, Onward, Over the Moon, and Wolfwalkers. Soul is the only one I've seen, and it was good, so I hope it wins. The others might be better, though, but I don't know because I haven't seen them.
Leslie Odom Jr. was nominated for something! I don't know what or in what movie but I hope he wins!!
Also I've only seen one episode of The Queen's Gambit but it was great, so hopefully that wins for best television limited series.
There are TWENTY-TWO shows on Netflix that were nominated. That's a lot!
And Orson, I think if you wore an emerald-green, you could pull it off, but blue is always a safer bet.
Anyway, happy awards season, everyone :) I'm interested in hearing your opinions about who you want to win!

Oh, I think that Soul will win for sure. The... ahem... Croods (ack) was probably only nominated because it released -- so many animated films were pushed back because of the pandemic that there were really only a few options. I'm sure that had Connected been released on time, it would have been nominated. Onward was alright. A little boring, but alright.
omarc!
Yep. What they said.
