I was actually JUST thinking about this.... I don't believe it is very ethical, but it truly does depend on the scenario. For instance, it's obviously not ethical to read the mind of a stranger to see what they're thinking about you. Thoughts are very private and there's a reason we don't always share them. However, say the mind reader is a victim of bullying. If they use their powers to read the minds of their bullies in order to avoid them as much as possible, I would say that it's ethical because they are using it to defend themselves from harm.

Actually, the idea that someday mind reading could become a reality is one of my greatest fears. I don't think it's ethical at all. The idea that anyone could look into my mind, to see my innermost thoughts, is terrifying, and no one deserves to have the sanctuary of their mind disturbed in such a way, no matter what. Although I see your reasoning, Mantis, I don't agree with you. It could be helpful to read the mind of someone who's bullying you, but it still doesn't seem right, and there are other ways to deal with bullying besides intruding into their thoughts. It's important to be a better person than someone who's cruel to you, and reading their mind is not being better than them.

Ok, so in my opinion, mind reading is done through satanic/demonic possesion or interaction. Therefore, in my opinion, it is wrong to do so. I beleive that both evil and good spirits are present in our world today, and that they do interfere with our lives in magick, wicca, et cetera.
