I have insomnia,
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
I have insomnia,
I have insomnia, and I need help.
I don't know if this is the right place to post it, but I'm getting sleep-deprived. I have insomnia, and I end up sleeping every day at midnight. It's really embarassing and I haven't told anybody about it, because..well...they wouldn't understand. I don't have any real friends that I can rely on, everyone's just so different from me. I want everyone to appreciate that I have insomnia and actually see who I am, not just the outside version of me. I've changed. Over the summer, during quarintine. And still everyone thinks I'm bossy and mean and ugly. I don't like that. I really want to change it, but I don't know how. And then there's the question of dealing with insomnia.
How does a human cope with all of this?!!
You should talk to your parents or an adult about visiting a doctor. Sleep problems are no joke! A lot of young people don't get enough sleep because their internal clock is shifting (that's why teenagers usually fall asleep much later at night than younger kids, and wake up later), and it's always a good idea to talk to your doctor about it. --admin

I feel you. :( I have insomnia. Oof. I have a couple tips on it, but first, you should definitely talk to your parents/guardian and doctor about it. They can help better than me.
Insomnia has various causes, not always cronic. Some things, like screens right before bedtime, can make it worse. If you ask a doctor about it, likely the first step taken will be that they give you a sleeps schedule thing where they give you varioud questions like "Did you ecxercise right before bed?" And you fill it out, also saying when you slept.
Insomnia and it's treatment can get a bit confusing, as it's different for everyone. I've never been the best sleeper and consistently took 45 minutes or an hour to fall asleep. I know that's not that late, but worse the n average I think. Occasionally, like once every two weeks, it would take hours and I wouldn't be able to sleep until midnight or later. But then, the gaps between these times when it would take a while started getting shorter, until it was around twice a week, so we decided to see a doctor. I ended up taking melitonin, which is a hormone telling you to go to sleep.
Melitonin dosages can be complicated. Like I said before and as you will soon see it's different for everyone. My dad, for instance, had been taking melitonin for a while. For him, it would take about two hours for it to really help so he would take it two hours before bed. It soon became relevant, however, that this was not true for me. It would take me a lot less time to feel it's effect. Also, I was origionally taking anormal dose but I would frequently be waking up in the morning and actually a dose half that size worked better.
Umm . . . sorry this got so long and became mostly about my experience, I wanted to give in example but I can be pretty bad at helping. And sorry for the numerous typos, I feel too lazy to fix them. Oh yah, meditation can help. Anyways, do you want to share why you are embarassed and what you think will happen if your parents/doctor found out? it's okay if you don't want to, but yah. Okay, leaving now.

I had problems with insomnia over the summer because I would sleep in super late and then not be able to fall asleep for literal HOURS. Try setting an alarm for like 7 a.m. or a time that lets you get the minimum hours of sleep for your age group (if you didn't learn this in health class, like I did, I think teens in general are supposed to get like 7-9 hours, but Google probably knows better.) Once school started and I had to wake up super early I was able to fall asleep sooner.

I totally get you, for I also have insomnia.
Something that really helps is keeping a fixed schedual after 7 pm. Especailly a fixed time to go to bed and turn off the lights. It helps your brain know to start getting sleepy.
It also helps me to read a book that tires you out and isn't suspensful, like Little Woman. Other things that help are listening to audio books or sleeping meditations.
Good Luck!
