CBer Student Lounge!
Hey guys! With school starting, I thought I'd create this place to take a break from homework and talk about school! Here you can compare classes, post notes, get help on different subjects, share essays, rant about online school, and procrastinate your schoolwork.
What classes are you guys taking this year? I'm going into 10th grade, which is insane! I'm also taking my first AP, which is kind of nervewracking. My school started last week, and we are doing full time zoom calls :(. Here are my classes:
- AP Art History
- Mandarin II
- Humanities II
- Honors Chemistry
- Advanced Algebra
- Product Design
- Fashion Design
- Spiritual Exploration
I hope some of you guys have the same classes so we can study together! Hope to see you in the lounge!

Do any of you guys do any cool clubs or extracurricular activities? I do mock trial and music for the elderly!

yayyyy let's top this!!!
This is my first year of not homeschooling since I finished second grade. It's a huge change and honestly it's just overwhelming sometimes. I have to get up really early, take a long drive, hang around for ages, and then drive back again, and it's just like what??? Idk I just get so tired and stuff. But. It's really fun, too :D
I had a lot to say here but I seem to have forgotten it all and anyway I have a lot to do... so let's just use this comment to help top :)

oh dear, i remember this thread from its first time around - i feel so oldddd :P but yeah i'd love to revive this!! i'm going into 10th grade this year (...which also makes me feel old :P). i'm taking (aside from PE and health and stuff):
- AP World History (i've decided to read the entire 1200+ page textbook before Christmas due to my extreme lack of faith in my teachers to actually do their job...it's actually quite riveting (yes yes i know i'm a nerd))
- Regents Physics (*various screaming noises* at least my teacher is better than last year's chem teacher!)
- Latin I (my favorite class so far!!)
- AP Seminar (research projects and stuff - fun so far!)
- Wherever You Go, There You Are (fancy english class my school is having me take that focuses on analyzing literature through a lens of psychology and fate and stuff - it's okay?)
- Japanese II (full disclosure: my Japanese teacher is not really a Japanese teacher; she's a music teacher who happens to speak Japanese. fun class, but all i can do is tell you the days of the week in Japanese, and even then i'd have to think really hard about it)
- Regents Algebra II (*more screaming noises* also, this one and physics are both technically honors classes, which makes no sense because i am definitely not an honors stem student?? but i am not complaining)
i'd be cool if anyone else is taking the same courses (especially nys people taking the same regents?) and then we can maybe study (read: scream and cry and complain) together :D
also, what sort of extracurriculars is everyone doing? this year, i'm doing the literary and art magazine, backstage/art for theater, film club (in which we presumably film stuff, not just watch stuff? might drop this one), probably softball once spring rolls around, and maybe some others if i can get my life together *finger guns*

Ooh, this is really interesting to me because I'm in tenth grade too and our schedules are really different. I'm also taking AP World, but I take chem this year and physics in junior year. I'm a fellow Latin person (woo!!! It's so much fun omg, I absolutely love it), but I'm taking Latin Prose (the honors version of Latin IV). The closest thing my school has to AP Seminar would be Capstone, which is only available to seniors, and I took Algebra II last year. I'm also from the northeast US but not New York, it's just really interesting to see how things like this differ!
As for extracurriculars, if you like Latin, you should see whether your school has a JCL (Junior Classical League - basically Latin club!) I'm an officer for my school's branch and it's a ton of fun. If not, you should look into starting one! I've met people from NYJCL and they're really nice :D

I have:
- English 1 honors
- Global Studies 1 honors (aka history)
- Art 1 honors (technically I should be in this next year but I'm chill w/this fluke)
- Biology honors
- Intergrated Math 2h (rly annoying cause I already learned this stuff in 6/7th grade excecpt not the 1st/2nd diff but since I had geometry last year and they don't have a full year of that here I'll be doing more of that and so I had a break from algebra for a full year so I forgot some stuff but with a tiny bit of a reminder I'd be fine but it's just annoying to repeat basically 2 years worth of work)
-And then also ISL (Instructional support lab, aka special ed) and social language (teaching me social/communication skills lol), and academic seminar (aka gifted enrichment class I think) plus pe and study hall so yeah
most of my classes (save for art ig) have been kinda boring and slow rn like I'm for the most part going over stuff I already know but I'm used to that seeing as that's how basically all my classes have been since like 4th grade def since 6th (other math in past years)
(September 23, 2024 - 7:40 pm)
the students in my biology class sit at three tables to do lab experiments together. the problem is all the people at my table (myself included) are either sleep-deprived, have ADHD, or both. needless to say we don't get any work done XD
(September 24, 2024 - 2:39 pm)
I have World History
then Spanish
next geometry
then flex (which is like a study hall)
science
english
and art!
7 periods feel like a lot, so when I get to English and art I'm pretty tired. Also this is my first year of high school! So it's taking some getting used to :)
(September 24, 2024 - 5:03 pm)
Right now, I don't dislike school for some reason...(besides, of course, the tests and homework and whatnot, which I suppose is quite a bit)
(September 24, 2024 - 7:01 pm)
idk about yall but i have 12 bells a day :\
- Health (half a year class. second half of the year I'll have some sort of college credit art class. I forgot the name)
- Earth & Space Science
- AP World
- Geometry
- Intro to 3D Design and Animation (We're doing a flip book rn and its so fun)
- English 10H (I love this teacher sm. shes so nice and I had her last year for 9H :))
- I also have a 2 study halls, lunch, PE alternating between Earth and Space Science Lab, lunch ofc, and something called AAA; Achive ... something... Advance. Basically a required study hall that everyone has at the same time.
Yeah :)
(September 25, 2024 - 7:00 am)
... i put lunch twice. mb i was tired T_T
(September 25, 2024 - 8:10 pm)
*not me thinking you actually had two lunch periods o_O*
(September 25, 2024 - 9:54 pm)
Heyyy, people! Heard we were talking about school. I've got:
- Algebra II
- AP Seminar
- AP World History
- Spanish 3.4
- Science Research
- Chemistry
- Chorus
Plus a heck-ton of extracurriculars (and lunch/gym/health). Sophomore year is shaping up to be interesting; I don't know if I'll ever sleep again =D
(September 25, 2024 - 12:31 pm)
hey guys! i don't post much on the cb but this is definitely a subject that is unfortunately a huuuge and extremely time consuming part of my life rn (aka what i should be doing instead of being on here, but whatever!). currently as a 9th-grader i am taking:
-geometry (not too much workload but i suck at it :/)
-citizenship and world history (barely any hw, easy concepts, and fun teacher!)
-english 9 (a bit difficult but im a humanities kid so i love it)
-spanish 2 honors (challenging but not impossible)
-methods in science honors (sooo much homework and just like extremely hard in general lol. but i've done surprisingly well so far)
(September 25, 2024 - 7:11 pm)
Hi guys! Currently, as a 7th grader, I have, in the following order:
WA State History
Math 7/8 (basically two years of math squished into one, so it goes much faster than normal math 7. We had a mid-topic test last week and we’ll have our end of topic test this Friday)
Lunch!
Advanced Theatre
Language Arts
Science
Concert Orchestra (one of the more advanced orchestras. There’s Premier, Intermediate, and then us. There’s also Chamber Orchestra, but I think you have to audition for that one.
