Chatterbox: Down to Earth

In Texas!

I'm in Texas after a day's worth of airpanes, cars, and jet lag at the hotel in this place called Galvenston. Everybody says"ya'll" and the place is crowded with Tex-mex and this burger thing called "whataburger". There is a Denny's and Sonic everywhere and being from New Jersey, which is devoid of Sonics and Denny's I find it odd. The ocean is right there in front of the hotel and we are heading there right now. Anyone ever been here? We are leaving on Sunday for a cruise though.

Sonic is really good. We have them here in Colorado. I think you should try it.

Oh hi Adina! I hope you're enjoying yourself! Is this part of the homeschool cruise you were going on?

I really feel like I should have been to Texas by now.... I mean, my great-aunt on my dad's side and my grandfather (Jiji) on my mom's side live in Texas.. but no, I've never yet been to Texas.

Hey, I'm glad you're having fun, Adina! Texas rocks, but I've never actually been there. Which reminds me, got to go make a new thread...

Ah, Galveston! That place is awesome. My family and I go there every Thanksgiving. You should try a restaurant called Guido's before you go, if it's still there. Some places closed down permanently after Hurricane Ike. Oh, and you should also go look at the musuem that documents the biggest storm (was that a hurricane too? can't remember...) that hit Galveston. That's why they have the seawall now, if I recall. I hope you've enjoyed your stay so far!

Lyssa, are you new? Welcome, fellow Texan!

I love Galveston! I wish I could ask what hotel you were staying at, but that probably wouldn't be safe... The only problem is that there's almost no restaurants there with food other than French fries that vegans such as myself can eat, so I often starve... I only go about once or twice a summer, though.

There are a lot of Sonics and Dennny's in Texas... I never really noticed it until now, but when you think about it, it's true...

Have you learned what other parts of Texas you're going to?

I've been to Texas!!!  Except I was in El Paso, not Galvenston.  And I was living there for a little over a month.  My mom had to work somewhere.  And before we left, we went to Juarez, Mexico.  There weren't many Americans there that day because something happened the night before.  I don't know what.  When it was lunch time, we went to a restaurant, and it was kind of hard to order.
