Are you a new CBer? If so, you can make an introductory thread on Chirp at Cricket. I also suggest coming up with a new name because we had a who knows but us? on here a few months ago and to avoid confusion you should probably call yourself something different.
If you are that WKBU, I thought you left? If you didn't welcome back, but this seems very unlike you and your various aliases, though I admit I don't know you that well. So... um... explanations would definitely be in order.
Thanks!

I'm not sure, but I thiiiink Velvet Serpent and who knows but us are the same person? If I'm right, then I'd say this is an impersonation. But who knows but us does tend to be a bit... quirky, so idk.

I didn’t cushion it at all. You’re quirky. You’re weird. And so am I. That’s the kind of people this community’s for. If you’re a completely bland and normal person with nothing at all that’s different or interesting about you, perhaps Chatterbox isn’t the place for you.

No, I'm pretty sure this is, in fact, who knows but us?, quite possibly in response to the question on the Bible thread? If so, yay, a debate! And yay, WKBU! :)

Okay, so a lot of people seem to think that you can either beleive in G-d or you can beleive in evolution, which isn't true. If you beleive that G-d is in everything, that he loves you and is in control of everything that is happening in the world (we do have choices, but that's a separate discussion), then it's no stretch of the mind to say that He caused evolution to happen. I believe there's enough scientific evidence that evolution is real that it can't really be ingnored. Some people say that it can't exist, because humans were created after only five days of the world existing. But there's a quote that says that a thousand years for us is a blink of an eye for Hashem. So it's perfectly possible that when it says one day, that could mean much longer for us. Also, you can beleive what you want. None of my friends beleive in evolution, and it doesn't really matter. But it does matter when people say that, by beleiving in evolution, you're not beleiving in G-d. So, please don't insinuate in any way that that is the case.

A thousand days can be as one day to the lord, but that doesn't mean that five days was a thousand or so years in reality. I think Evolution is nonsensical, and not just from a God-believing point of view. I don't think things can just spontaneously get new information. Information is never added, just lost. Where are the skeletons from in between changing? Why are there still monkeys?

That's a really good point, Zahava. The Bible says we were created by God, in his image, from dust, and we are his most beloved creation, so I find it hard to see us coming from monkeys with that context. I do agree though that the time could have been longer to us.

Hi! I'm not a scientist nor do I have a very nuanced understanding of evolution theory, but I will answer a few of your questions, using humans!
First of all, to answer your second question. Humans did not evolve from monkeys. That's a common misconception. Humans and monkeys instead share a common ancestor, known as the "hominin ancestor" to scientists. If you follow the human species' evolutionary tree, you'll see some very interesting things. For example, chimpanzees evolved directly from the hominin ancestor, no stops in between! If you follow JUST the human line, though, you'll see that our current species - the homo sapien - was essentially the final stop in a much larger evolutionary chain. Have you heard of neanderthals? They were the other last stop - a completely different species than the homo sapien. But they went extinct, as did all the other branches of human evolution, like the homo erectis or homo habilis. As for the skeletons, just look it up online! I've been to multiple museums that have skeletons on display of our almost-human ancestors! In fact, the reason we know these species existed and were different from us is because of those skeletons - like the size of their skull, or whether they were built to stand up straight like homo sapiens or bend downward like gorillas. I recommend doing some research on it yourself to see what you find out, because it really is quite fascinating! There were once all sorts of different humanoid people living on Earth, often at the same time, and the one that survived was the one best fitted for living here!
(also, the information gathering isn't "spontaneous." You don't just wake up having evolved. It takes a very long time with a lot of very small changes until they add up to create something new.)
I agree with you, Coulson. I feel there is so much evidence of evolution existing, and almost all scientists agree that it's real, so I believe them. And anyway, as far as I know I'm pretty sure there's no evidence that everything the Bible says is true, other than the Bible itself. I also agree with Zahava that you can believe in God, and be a Christain, and also believe in evolution.
As for me, I was never taught to think anything at all about the existence of God, so I'm still figuring out how I feel about that.
I don't want to offend anyone who believes otherwise, you have every right to believe in only creation, but I do hope you at least think about this. Have a great day, too!

I don't want to disturb your belief, but I am christian and I do not beleive in evolution. I believe God created man from dust and took the flesh from man and created woman. (Adam and Eve) By the way, I probablly wouldn't start something like this "Who knows but us". I'm not trying to be rude or anything, it's just that people have different beleifs and we don't want to influence your beleif by what we say. Anyways, Have a good day/morning/night!
