Chatterbox: Down to Earth

So, today marks exactly three years of me being a part of the CB. I have to say, it's been a pretty great three years (I'm going to go ahead and warn you now, I might get sentimental). I joined on May 7, 2017 after reading about the Chatterbox in the Cricket magazine, and you can find my first post on page 159 of BaB, a thread about Ranger's Apprentice. To say I had no idea what I was doing would be an understatement. Everything was really overwhelming at first, but now I couldn't imagine my life without this place (see, I told you).

I think the first rp I joined was Bluebird's Modern Witches RP, when I was an annoying little 12-year-old who asked too many questions. I've joined countless more since then, all of which have died, but hey, that's what happens. I've made lots of my own threads, too, including ski lodges, an rp, a solo write, and three separate picturing threads, the art on which still makes me cringe.

I love a lot of things about the CB, but what I love most is the people. It astounds me every day that all of us could come together and create a community like this, because that's what it is. I think it's surpassed being just a website- I mean, we have our own language, our abbreviations that we all understand, our guidelines, our history. It's pretty amazing, of you ask me. All of you are amazing, and that's what makes the CB amazing.

A lot has changed since I first joined. I feel like I joined the CB when it was nearing the end of an era- there were so many things and people and names that a lot of people reading this probably wouldn't recognize. Everything has changed so much, and a lot of people have either left or just drifted away, which still makes me sad. There are a lot of people that I miss. But there was a point when I was on where there was a flood of new CBers, it seemed, and a lot of them stuck around. And they all make up a new generation, and everyone who joins brings their own spark and helps change and shape the CB. It's been great to see how the CB grows and develops as we do.

So if you read that jumble of sentimentality and nostalgia, thanks (I didn't quite mean to get that deep, haha). To sum it all up, it's my CBversary! I just wanted to acknowledge what a big part of my life the CB has been. It's helped me become a better writer, artist, poet, and person.

Thanks for your kind comments, Quill, and congratulations on your anniversary. Chatterboxers do grow up, and many of them move on to other things, as they should. But we're always happy when they check in from time to time.
