Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Looking back at most of the things I post, whether it be from over a year ago or just over a week ago, I find that my mood in them is so volatile. Sometimes I’ll be contemplative and rather mature-sounding, like I am now (hopefully); sometimes I’ll be screaming with excitement in your virtual ears; most of the time, I’m kind of rambly and all over the place, but always well-meaning.

Usually when I look back, I’ll also be embarrassed by whatever I might’ve said; that’s mostly because of how much I’ve changed. And I owe a lot of that change to the Chatterbox and all its wonderful people.

Two years ago today, I posted on St. Owl’s Harry Potter Trivia thread in BaB. My name was Soren P., my age was 0.53, and you could find me residing in world-in-my-head, Fantasy. I was so excited. I found a fun thread nine pages back and made a comment on it- but was extremely disappointed when nobody responded. I kept track of every post I made, and I was hyper active… that lasted far beyond my time as a “newbie”, though.

What I’m getting at is, it’s my CBversary. Sorry you had to get past all that random talking before I actually came out and said it. But, yeah, that’s why I’m rambling about the Days of CB Past like some nostalgiac old lady- which at this point I might as well be.

I suppose I should thank some people now.

First, to the incredible Admins, who make me feel so safe and secure whenever I’m on the CB. You do so much for us that we’ll never realize, so I feel like you owe my thanks in a special way. Without you, I never could have had the same experience of the CB that I have.

Next, to the poets- my special thanks to Leafy, Abi, September, Blue Moon, Leeli, Stardust, Esthelle, Jaybells and Kitten- among every every brave and incredible person who has shared their poetry. You guys specifically have shown me how amazing poetry can be and what forms it can take. You all encouraged me to try new styles and start really writing poetry for fun. You all are an inspiration to me.

To the artists- especially Agent Winter. This is a shoutout to her specifically, but every single one of you is incredible. I’m amazed every day by the skill of every one of you. Please, don’t stop what you’re doing. Don’t give up. You are all amazingly talented, and I believe in you.

To the writers- Mice, Chinchilla, cerinthe, Vyolette, Porcelain, Nyx, Dusk, Joan, elementgirl, Starseeker, Alizarine, Leafy, Leeli, Luminara, Starberri, Emekittycon K., and so many others- you’ve changed my writing in the best of ways. There is no way I would be writing like I am today if not for all of you. You’ve been an inspiration to me. You’ve shown me my potential and everything I can be, and now I believe I can do it. Thank you so much. It means everything to me. Never stop writing, no matter what. <3

To those newer to the CB- Blackfooted Bobcat, Selcouth, Stachaser, who knows but us, Cynthia M and all the rest- you add so much energy and light to the CB. Keep coming back. It’s an incredible place, and I’m happy to get to know you.

To my role models- Joan, Fidelity, Leafy, Porcelain, Zeus, Starseeker, Mice, St. Owl, Viola?, Leeli, Claaws, Quill, Gracia, Abi, Satin, coyotedomino, Icy, and so, so, SO many others (who likely won’t see this)- you make such a difference to me. You all are such wonderful people and I aspire to be like every single one of you. This applies to everyone- you all are so incredible and brave and unique in every respect, and I believe in you. I’ve been inspired- and hopefully have done some inspiring. I’ve made friends and memories and learned so many things- about myself and the world. I’m so glad I decided to come to the CB, and even more glad I stayed.

Stay the way you are, everyone. Be creative and wonderful just as you are. I love you all, and this has probably gotten so ridiculously cheesy that I won’t even be able to reread it ever again. Okay. Thank you.
