Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Hi, earlier on

Hi, earlier on in the year my grandfather died. I've just started "getting over it", if you can call it that.

The principal of my old school just passed it away. She'd been sick for a while but honestly I never believed she could leave the world. She was sick for at least a year. She was the sort of person who it didn't matter if you agreed with her on stuff or not. Because she cared so much about every single student and you could see it. She truly cared, as if each kid was her own. Her smile used to light up the halls and really she was one of those people who can be a true principal that just... is meant for her job, you know?
I don't know how I can deal with this right now. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Losing someone to whom you are close is hard. It helps to tell others how you feel, to express your feelings. It's normal to feel sad now, but as time goes on you will feel less sad and be able to think of the good times you had together and smile about them. People live on in the memories others have of them. I don't know about your grandfather, but for teachers and principals I always think of all the students they taught and inspired over the years.

I know how you feel, Anonymous. I recently had to put my cat down, and my grandpa died after my grandma died a year earlier. There's been a lot of deaths because people don't listen to the quarantine thing that's going on right now. Stay safe, you guys. We're all in this together.

I'm sorry, Em. You're right, we're all in this together. Thanks, Persephone
