Urban/Suburban/Rural Thread

Hello there!

I remember this thread (or something like it) was here before, but I don't remember who made it. I think it was Spiffycat, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, this is a thread to share about the places you live in! Do you live in a rural, urban, or suburban area? Are you homeschooled? What's life like where you live?

I live in this suburban city in the good old Deep South. My town in four miles, and the border between us and another town is a railroad. We have 5 lower elementary schools (K-2), 2 upper elementary schools (3-5) one middle school (6-8) and one high school (9-12). My school, the middle school, is on the south side of town, but I live on the north side, so I have to walk across town to get home! The route from my school to my house is about a mile and a half, and I have to walk through the town square, which has a ton of shops and stores, so on Fridays my friends and I walk there and buy ice cream.

My neighborhood is the picture-perfect Suburbia. We have big backyards with tall wood fences, a school (one of the lower elementaries) behind us, and a TON of kids to play with, all in one cul-de-sac. The streets have no sidewalks, but that's fine because half the town doesn't know about the neighborhood, so we don't get a lot of cars. It's a nice area to take long walks in.

Behind my house is a school, so there's a playground to have picnics in, and a forest to explore, and -best of all- a creek right behind it. During the summer, I call my friends over and we spend the day walking through the creek with rainboots on. There are a lot of little beaches and rocks to sit on, so we are pretty occupied. If we get wet and need to dry off, we backtrack to the playground, where it's really sunny, and lay on the field and just talk.

I really like where I live, and I can't imagine a better place.

Toodles!

(does anybody get my location reference?)

I understood the reference!!

I live in a college town in Kansas. It’s a medium-sized town. We have this really cool historic downtown, which was burned down around the time of the civil war.

I live in a suburban neighborhood that’s on the outskirts of town, tho it doesn’t feel like it is. I’m homeschooled, but our neighborhood is right by an elementary school. I don’t have any friends in our neighborhood despite having lived here for nine years, though one of my friends lives in a neighborhood near ours. My best friend lives on the other side of town.

There’s currently a stay-at-home order in place where I live, because of coronavirus. Has that happened to anyone else here?

Yes, I'm under Illinois's stay-at-home mandate. The whole Cricket staff is working almost entirely at home. The computer and internet are wonderful tools! Stay well, everyone.

I'm not stuck at home, but my school's been closed until the end of April and probably won't open again until the fall. Thankfully, I can still leave my house.

@Admin, my family lives in Illionois, too! Were at home until April 14th?-I think-until further notice.

I heard April 7 in the governor's first announcement, but I will not be surprised if that date is extended. We're keeping busy here every day, enjoying walks and communicating via email. I'm doing my part to help us get through this historic time.

My school has an Easter break, so that's why Mine is the 14, because we would've gone back to school for one day and then had Easter break, so school just decided to extend it.

I live in good ol' Raleigh, North Carolina. It is a fast developing city, but my neighborhood hasn't changed much. I have lilved in the same house my whole, tucked behind a winding road lined with forest. My neighborhood is absolutely awesome.

Description of neighborhood: Like I mentioned, there is a spooky winding road to sneak in, but there is also another way in, by the street that one of my friends live on. The spooky road stretches all the way down to the "upper cul-de-sac", which then gives way into a small street that is also a perfect hill to bike on, which slides into the "lower cul-de sac," the street where I live on. It's hard to visualize unless you've been there, but I did my best to sum it up.

Description of people in neighborhood: There are six seventh graders (my age), three boys and three girls. There is also an eight grade girl who just moved in, two fifth graders, and two ninth graders (one of which is my sister). There are also a lot of toddlers and younger kids, along with a solid amount of middle-aged and older people. Now that our state has issued the stay-at-home order, we are always together (outside, of course) because there is nothing better to do.

I currently live in the gigantic city of Hong Kong! It's your classic city: massive skyscrapers, lots of people, and bright lights. I really love cities because there's so many different people and places to eat and shop. One thing people don't know about Hong Kong is that there's a lot of wilderness. the city is build along the sea shore and between mountains. It's a tropical area, so everything is covered with bright green trees. The beaches are also really nice and there's always people sailing/windsurfing on the ocean.
