Oh boy, you just commited yourself to death by long rant.  Okay here goes.  I like Tamora Pierce, who wrote the Song of the Lioness quartet, The Immortals quartet, The Protector of the Small quartet, Trickster's Choice, Trickster's Queen, and the Beka Cooper series.  As I said before, I like the Inheritance Cycle by Paolini, Nancy Farmer's stories, mainly The Sea of Trolls, The Land of the Silver Apples, and House of the Scorpion (The conclusion of the Sea of Trolls series comes out soon; when I read it, it will join that list).  T. A. Barron's Lost Years of Merlin series and Child of the Dark Prophecy series are good; the Peter and the Starcatchers series by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson is good too (it's about how Peter Pan became Peter Pan).  Stardust is a good read too, but since it contains adult content, I would not reccomend it.  And I also like Stephanie Meyer (don't start booing and hissing yet) because of her inter-species romance.  Personally, The Host is amazing, and the Twilight saga isn't too bad either.  Okay, now you can boo and hiss at me if you want too.
