Religion!
Hi guys!!! I'm new here and so excited to be here! I thought this thread could be about religion! I'm a Christian and I strongly believe in God! I believe He love us all and guides our decisions. I'm so proud to be a Christian and am a total Creationist. I believe there's no other explanation to how to world was created! I go to church and I love the sermons our pastor gives. I believe God has performed miracles for me. What's y'all's religion?!

Hi, Amy! I'm Tux. I am a practicing Christian! I go to church on Sunday, and have Small Groups on Wednesdays (Which is basicaclly a Bible study but more fun.) I believe God is my all, and he loves me- who I am. It doesn't matter if I was a murderer or theif or if I've lied.
The thing is, I believe Sin is evil. Cause no one can be perfect. We all have sin! I think no sin is greater than any other. Whether thinking a nasty thought, or killing a person. They're both sins, no one greater than the other- that's more theological. Anyway, I believe God is Holy and Pure and can not be around any Sin.
But if people have Sin, how could he have a one-on-one relationship with someone? I believe God sent Jesus to Earth, as a baby in Bethlehem to save us from our sins, so God can be with us. Long story short, Jesus grew up to be thirty years old and died, an awful death by the Romans. I believe Jesus also rose from the grave. He lived again! Basically, by dying, Jesus took all of OUR sins, onto his own shoulders. Any sin at all! I believe that Jesus went to prepare a home for us when we die.
So that's basically a quick over view of what I believe Christianity is :)
Wow, that was a real mouth full lol XD

>>>>>I wanted point out parts of your post that differ from Catholicism (but you're not Catholic, so it's not like I'm correcting you, just talking about things I find interesting, like how Catholicism differs and is similair to other Christianity please don't be offended!!)<<<<<<<<
We believe we must go to Church on Sunday and Holy Days of Obligation, like Christmas. On Saturdays or days before the Holy Days, there's a special Mass in the evening called a Vigil, if we go to these we don't have to the next day, I think Vigils are in some or all Protestant sects?
We believe there are different "levels" of sin, venial and mortal. We believe that venial hurts your soul, and until you go to Confession, mortal sins basically kill your soul! We believe if you die with a mortal sin, you'll go down below, so mortal sins are really bad, like murder! Venial sin examples are more like, telling a "white lie" or stealing your brothers candy. Of course, sins can be worse than that but still not as bad as un-aliving someone.
In the Catholic church, we believe to make a sin mortal, the sinner must have fully consented to it, it must have been a grave sin, and the sinner must have had full knowledge of it. Only if all three of these are true, a sin is mortal.
Is any of this interesting? Hopefully xD!

Hey, I go to a Wednesday bible group too! Do you live in Illinois?

I am a practicing Christian, I pray, do devotions, go to youth group, go to church, and go to a Christian school. For me a good explanation of the Christian beliefs is the Apostles creed, this is something we say in church or school that states our basic beliefs
Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church*,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
By holy catholic church we mean the universal Christian church

I'm Catholic!
Sort of similiar to Protestantism, but we venerate the Blessed Mother and Saints.
:D
I'm definitely not one to explain ':]
(January 6, 2020 - 10:25 am)
Well, after seeing everyone's really smart discussions, I thought I might as well at least write something xD (Oh btw, I don't know much about Protestanism, so, um yeah, just keep that in mind!)
I could say, Catholicism is a very ancient religion? Not really, 'cause I'm not ancient, but it began a long time ago! We believe in the Holy Trinity, which is something called a supernatural mystery, which basically means our human brains are not smart enough to understand it.
(There was a story about an intelligent saint, I forget who, was walking along the beach, trying to figure out The Holy Trinity. He saw a little boy scooping up water from the ocean and putting it in his((pail? Hole in the sand?)) The man asked the child what he was doing, and the boy replied "I'm trying to get the ocean in this ((hole in the sand? I forget))" The man was like > T.T Um, you can't do that... The boy said, "It'll happen sooner than you will understand the Trinity" and he dissapeared. Yep, he was an angel) This story would work for every supernatural mystery.
But, anyway, I believe the Trinity is Three Persons in one God, or (lemme get a catechism) One Nature in three Persons. The First, Second, and Third Persons of the Trinity are God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, respectively. You can search each one up, but anyway, everyone knows who the Son is. He's Jesus!
About 2020 years ago, a teenager named Mary was praying, reading the Word of God, when suddenly... a glowy person appeared, and said "Hail, full of grace" (part of the Hail Mary :D) Of course Mary was freaked out, but the angel (you guessed he was one, right?) told her not to be, and that she was going to have a son. Mary asked how this could be, she hadn't married Joseph, her fiance yet. The angel was like GOD, that's how!! Miracles, you know!! And the angel (Gabriel) told her to name her son Jesus, which means "God With Us" (Beautiful)
The Nativity happened soon, but I'm not here to tell you about the Bible story! The apostles told the world the story of Jesus, (not just the Nativity ofc) and Catholicism spread! But Catholicism began, (if I remember correctly oof) when Jesus turned to his head dicsciple, Simon, and said,"Your name is now Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church" That's how Peter began the First Pope!
To be a Catholic, you are baptized. Priests baptize people, if the person is converting to the Catholic Church, on the Easter Vigil. If the person is in an emergency of dying, anyone can baptize them! They just get Holy Water, draw a cross with it on their forehead and say, "[name], I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit." I feel babies should be baptized as soon as possible!
I believe Catholics should recieve Holy Communion (go to Mass) every Sunday, and on Holy Days of Obligation, if I can, I should even go to Mass daily!! Confession, or the Sacrament of Penance monthly (i mean, they say I only NEED to go yearly, and once during the Easter season, but... come on ._. I don't want to have to number every single sin I've done in a year, do I? People are waiting in line...) exceptions if a person CAN'T, like they're really sick, but I believe that people's souls get's sick, too, you know?
I believe that I should pray everyday. *ahem* It's not hard and most of all, I have no excuse! yeah, I believe I should pray the rosary everday, BUT all I need to do is just say, in my heart, "Jesus, I love You"
ONCE or twice a day.
Well, thanks for listening to my rant? my um.. thing? my... i... i dunno what it is, really... Welp, I will pray daily and Godspeed!!
The Chatterbox is a place for youth of all religions and no religion. Here people may believe in prayer or many choose not to pray. --Admin

@Admins, haha yeah when I said it, I realized it sounded a little... yeah. I was talking about Catholics, or my belief as a Catholic, or my family's beliefs, and I definitely got a little ranty at the end, but I wasn't talking about everyone! ':) Just Catholics!
There are many exceptions, for even Catholics.
You could have edited out the part where I said pray daily at the end, but realize I meant just for Catholics. Yeah, I shouldn't have said you have no excuse, that isn't always true! xD
Editing it to "I believe We Catholics/Christians should pray every day" would have, maybe, been better than editing it to "I believe I should pray every day" though that is true, too.
I didn't mean to offend anyone at all! I should have checked my post before I posted it!
Oops!!

I'm Jewish— specifically, my family practices Reform Judaism. If you don't know what that means, there are different denominations of Judaism that interpret the Torah in their own ways. The general values and strucutre of practice are the same, but there are differences as well.
Basically, Reform Judaism believes that faith and the practices relating to it should evolve over time. The world is WAY different than it was thousands of years ago (even a hundred years ago) and so should our faith. I believe that our behaviors and ideas about G-d should constantly change organically in accordance with our own personal + cultural values.
Another important parts of Reform Judaism are "the superiority of its ethical aspects to the ceremonial ones, and belief in a continuous revelation, closely intertwined with human reason and intellect". All these ideas align, for the most part, with my personal values. I believe that to be a "good Jew" (and a good person in general) it's less important to eat Kosher or go to Temple every Friday, as opposed to practicing Mitzvot and treating ourselves, people we meet, and the world around us with kindness and respect.
The other 3 big denominations of Judaism are:
1) Orthodox, commonly known as the most "traditionalist". They believe that the Torah was literally transmitted by G-d from Mt Sinai and strictly observe halakha (Jewish law). There are different "branches" of Orthodoxy also, and what level of strictness/traditionalism counts as Orthodox is a subject of much debate.
2) Conservative. I will admit that I don't know a ton about this specific denomination's beliefs, but some cursory research defines it as a "religious movement that seeks to conserve essential elements of traditional Judaism but allows for the modernization of religious practices in a less radical sense than Reform Judaism". You could think of it as the middle ground between Reconstructionist/Reform and Orthodox.
3) Reconstructionist, which "seeks to unite Jewish history, tradition, culture and belief with modern scientific knowledge and the way people live today". It's very similar to Reform, but different in that they focus on "constructing" a new tradition by combining old w new whereas Reform more "bends and changes" existing traditions, at least as I understand it. But there is a lot of overlap between all of these denominations and the lines are all kinda blurry.
There are also "secular Jews", because Jewish idenity is ethno-cultural as well as religious (this in particular makes it different from, say, Christianity). So you can be culturally Jewish but not religously so, or vice versa! There's no wrong way to be Jewish.
I have some more Thoughts about more political stuff but I don't know what the CB limits are on that stuff, so I will just say: Jewish ≠ Zionist. Stop equating them please.
Okay, this got long so I will leave it at that. I may come back to this thread later to discuss my personal beliefs about G-d etc., but we'll see.

I might be a little late on this, but hello, Amy! I'm Luminara, and it is a pleasure to meet you!
I'd go in huge detail, but long story short, I'm Christian. I think... I do strongly believe in the Holy Trinity, always keep a crucifix in my house, and I go to Church on Wednesdays and Sundays. I'd go into full detail, but I really don't have much time.

I'm a Christian and go to a Christian Reformed Church (CRC), we have a Heidleberg Catechism that we use to better understand the Bible and our questions about faith, everything in it is based on the Bible. I was wondering if anyone else here uses it, or if it's only the CRC church
(January 8, 2020 - 7:20 am)
So... I'm going to tell y'all what my religion is. But I'm going to ask that if you do read this, you are very respectful of me and my religion. Because I know that my religion, and those who belong to it, are often hurt because of what we believe in. Many of you have seen what my beliefs here on past threads, and most those beliefs I have stem primarily from my religion. So yeah. Again please be respectful. Thanks. :)
*takes a slight deep breath*
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You might know us better as 'Lds' or 'Mormons' though.
If you want to put us in a more generalized section of religion, then we will say we are Christian, because we believe in Christ, and in God.
That is all I will say. Thank you for being respectful. :)
(January 8, 2020 - 11:56 am)
Oh! For some reason I guess I thought you were Catholic. I didn't know you were Mormon. Now I do XD
(January 8, 2020 - 3:46 pm)
Yes, it might seem like I'm catholic, because I chose 'Joan B. of Arc' as my CB name. And Joan of Arc is considered a Roman Catholic Saint. :)
I chose Joan of Arc as part of my CB name because at the time, I loved her as a historical character, and I still do love her. Her actions and everything she did is very inspiring. She is one of my heros from history. :)
(January 8, 2020 - 4:52 pm)
@Joan B. of Arc I am a Christian and I was wondering about what beliefs you have
