Hey guys! :)

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Hey guys! :)

Hey guys! :)

So, this December since there are many getting ready for Christmas, my church is doing something called "Light the World."

I thought it might be nice to do this on the CB, so you can spread light with those around you.

Now, I know not all of you believe in God, or believe in anything at all. But, this "Light the World" my church is doing has multiple prompts to help serve others one by one every day.

So basically I will post one "prompt" per day of something that you can do every day this December to help spread light. :)

Now, again I understand many of you do not believe in Christ or God. Some of the prompts will have something to do with prayer, or God or Christ. So I will still post that prompt for the day,  BUT I will also post an alternate prompt for those who wish not to follow the other prompt of the day.

If you do not like the alternate prompt that I provide for that day, or the prompt in general if there is no alternate one, then please comment and tell me so and I will do my best to come up with a different one.

You do not have to do any of the prompts. I just thought that it might be fun and wonderful for us to join together as a CB family and serve others around us. (Admins, you can join in too if you want. :)

Please be kind with what you say on this thread-and if you do do any of these prompts, I would love to hear about your experience! :) They are very simple to do, one example of a prompt would be: "Call or text your parents today and tell them how much you love them."

Let's "Light the World" this month! :)

Joan, we'll give this a try, but the only social media we'll allow will be Chatterbox.

Ok admins. :)

Thank you for posting my thread though. That means a lot to me. And thanks for protecting us as CBers and encouraging us in our writing and other threads. :)

You're welcome!

So, today's prompt to "Light the World!" is:

Think of someone in your life who is a example to you of Christlike service, (or just any amazing service that has blessed you.) Write it down in a notebook or somewhere you will remember how blessed you are, OR write a note to that person thanking them for what they've done for you. :)

ALTERNATE PROMPT:

Next time you receive a text, or compliment from someone, tell that person something you appreciate about them. :)

Today's prompt:

Donate items to a local secondhand store (for example, Goodwill), or give them to charity, or give them to someone in need. :)

Perhaps there's some old toys or stuffed animals you don't play with anymore. Why not give them away to someone who will play with and love them?

Maybe there's some books you don't read anymore that are just cluttering up your room. Why not look to see if there's a library in your neighborhood, or a "little free library" in your area that you can donate them to? (Little free libraries are sort of like really small bookstores, they sort of look like bird houses, but are filled with books. Usually if you give a book, you can get a book from it. But if you choose to do this prompt with donating books to a little free libary, then please just give them out of the goodness of your heart. Look "little free library" up and you can probably find more info on them.)

ALTERNATE PROMPT:

If you can't give away old items to a second hand store or find anyone to donate those old things to, then why not 'donate' some of your time?

Find a way to share some time with someone in your family, or a friend who may need it. Maybe play a game with them, or have a quality conversation with them. Find out something new about them you've never known before. :)

Today's prompt:

Take a few minutes today to offer a prayer of gratitude.

ALTERNATE PROMPT:

Write a note to a friend to thank them for a service they have done for you recently. :)

Yeah, a little bit. You could consider it that way, since there is supposed to be a prompt every day.

I just haven't been able to post one for the past 2 days because I had my computer privelages revoked.... whoops.

But I have them back now for just a little, so prompts are back up! :)

Oh gosh-sorry guys, I haven't been able to post here in a bit because I had my computer privelages revoked for the past 2 days... whoops.

Anyways, I'm back now! :)

Today's prompt:

Share a scripture with a loved one, either over text or by word of mouth. :)

For me, I used John 14: 27, and just sent a whole group text to my friends. Not only did it help me that day by sharing it, but I know that I was able to help others too by sending it out. It was hard at first, because I was scared what they would think, but if you guys choose to do this, I urge you to be courageous, and you will be blessed. :)

ALTERNATE PROMPT:

Instead of a scripture, why not share an inspirational quote?

Maybe there was a quote that really stuck out to you in the latest book you read.

Some examples would be:

"Not all those who wander are lost." -J.R.R. Tolkien

or

“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" -The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

Find your own quote, or scripture, and share it.

Light the World! :)

TODAY'S PROMPT:

Call or text your parents to tell them how much you love them. :)

Feel free to brag about or highlight them to all of your friends about how amazing and special they are to you, and what they have done for you in your life. :)

Light the world! :)
