Random Thoughts/Things?

Random Thoughts/Things?

I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

Okay, I know the mood of this thread has been pretty philosophical and mostly questions but I have something I want to share.

We had this cat, her name was Jackie.  She was extremely fluffy, and we had a bunch of nicknames for her (Jackilous, Flüff, kittiot when she did something dumb, and more).  My brother found her beside a very busy road when he was with our grandma at a gas station.  There was a group of motorcyclists at the same gas station, and thus Jackie entered our live as a little kitten being rescued from the road by a group of bikers.

Now we had Jackie for a couple of years, and she'd grown to be a vicious hunter, not exactly sweet but social, odd little cat.  Then she started having seizures.  They got progressively worse, until one day about five weeks ago while my grandparents were feeding her while we were on a trip she just... left.

It's not uncommon for a cat to leave when they're close to dying, and so after a week or two and plenty of tears we realized she really wasn't going to come back.  We lit a candle for her at Christmas.

But today we got a call.  Someone had found her microchip.  We reached the person and my mom went straight out and brought her home and now our precious little Jackie is home!!!  She's in good health and I'm so happy.  She was gone for five weeks  I really really thought it was over!  Anyway I guess the moral is microchip your pets and check for microchips because there's no way we would have gotten her back if she hadn't been microchipped.  I'm so happy.

Oh, that story has such a happy outcome!

Oh my goodness, that’s amazing! I’m so glad you got her back!

Once my brother had a roborovski hamster (I ended up owning her later, but that’s another story) who was insanely fast and very skittish. Whenever she got away from us she was extremely hard to catch. Well, back then we lived in a very old house that had cracks around the cabinets, and one day Robo (creative name, I know, haha) escaped from us and went into one of the biggest cracks under the cabinets. We started leaving hamster treats out around the cabinet in the hopes that she would come out, and we even left her cage in the floor in case she would come back to it. But we didn’t see her, day after day, and we were starting to lose hope. Then my mom, my brother and I went out of town, and our dad stayed at home. While we were gone he started setting out a live mouse trap. He caught a mouse once, but still no sign of Robo. It had been two weeks. And then miraculously, one day, she appeared in the trap. He sent us a picture of her, and she was disheveled and her fur was greasy, but she was unharmed.

Your dad just earned like +50 points for not setting murderous mouse traps. ;)

I also had a harrowing pet experience! i know exactly how you feel! My dog Otter ran out in front of a city bus three weeks ago. he was hit, and sustained damage to his lungs, which caused an air bubble inside them. The procedure to fix this problem was far beyond our capabilities to pay for, and my parents told me that if he didn't heal on his own, we would have to put him down. After prayers and tears, we recieved a call from the vet, The air bubble was dispersing on it's own! Now, just three weeks after the accident, Otter is back to normal! Every day, I look at him and think, " did he really get hit by a bus?" His recovery is so miraculous i am thinking about making it into a movie, entitled "Hairy Otter, the dog who lived." (:

Does snow trigger a sense of elation, especially in small children? I seem to get exited just at the thought of snow, and more so when it actually sticks (not exactly common here in Maryland), but all my parents and other adults seem to see is future problems, like traffic or catching up on missed work.

Yesss, I love snow! The thought of it definitely triggers excitement for me, and also sometimes a hint of fear/apprehension? I guess that part is because when snow is expected it’s always possible it won’t come, and since I want it to come so badly I’m afraid of being disappointed. We were supposed to possibly get quite a bit of snow here today, but when I woke up it was barely a dusting and it all melted off and turned to sludge by noon anyway. >:( It didn’t help that our friends were sending us texts and videos about the foot of snow that’s they got.

Snow did. Even a forcast of snow does that. My brother, eh not so much. He just doesn't want to miss a robotics team meet. I feel like I'm a little too old for it, but eh. Anyway.

My PS3 works and has better games than an Xbox or PS4. I think that a ten box would work less well than a play station. Although a GC (gaming consile) would be better.

I really love to stand on my head. Acuall more ballancing on my shoulders. I haven't yet met anybody who has the same love for it as I do.

Being weird is great. Nerds are great. I won't consider you a nerd if you really annoy me. I'll consider you as a I-have-to-be-semi-polite-to-you. Once you get less anyoing and show nerd quallities, you will be considered as one.

Does anybody have things against sertain letters, like X?

Adults seem to worry about very different things than kids. It’s strange to me that not everyone can enjoy the weather, but also reasonable when I look at it another way. I think kids and adults have very different things to do. I’m not sure I don’t want to grow up, but I definitely don’t want to forget all the things that made me happy when I was young. That make me happy now.

I do get really excited about snow. It’s slightly less fun for me to miss school than it used to be—mostly because I like school better than I used to—but it’s so cool! Soft ice falling from the sky. Crazy. And then there’s all the things you can do with it if it sticks. Shoveling snow is work but it’s fun work; it’s satisfying to clear a space, and it makes me feel stronger. I’ve never gone skiing but I have been sledding, had snowball fights, built an igloo, and gone for walks in the woods at night.

I’ve heard that the word “bald” used to mean “white”.

Ooh, I already love this thread. Thanks very much Leeli! I was actually planning to make a similar thread, to post random memories and pieces of your life. That was inspired by thinking about when I was in camp a few years ago. One of my friends fell asleep early, and we decided to prank him. The dip-hand-in-water prank is rather mean, though, and we didn’t have any shaving cream. So we taped an Oreo to his face instead. I learnt that day that Scotch tape doesn’t stick to Oreos very well.

I have a really deep and philosophical question for you guys.

Would you rather look like a potato...

or feel like a potato?

@Leeli-I have absolutely positively no idea.

I really want to make an online channel and do music videos with my friends. Art, music, and pop culture is really big in my community, and there is grafitti everywhere. (There's two places that I know of where grafitti is allowed and even encouraged.) But it's not unlikable. Everybody loves it. So many unique styles...it's a great setting for music videos.
