So, Vyolette made a very casual comment on the #GetRidOfCAPTCHA thread (http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/chirpatcricket/node/387227). Something along the lines of "I want to know I'm talking to real kid." Now me being me, I went and attacked her with a barrage of philosophy. What makes a robot different than a human? What if you succesfully created a child-like AI? How are you different than a robot? Aren't you both just neural networks? Sorry, Vy.
So, anyway, I figured we should have a thread for such stuff. Please keep it civil.

Interesting question, and I believe the main difference is that humans are created by God, and robots are, obviously, created by humans to try to replicate functions and intelligence from the original design. More on this topic later...

Now, I’m sorry if you don’t want to delve into “religion”, but if you take the Creator out of the equation, it’s like saying we’re going to pretend that humans didn’t invent AI when we look at this philosophical question. Because I believe that we and the rest of the amazingly complex universe didn’t result from a giant explosion of nothing. Neither did AI. We have a Creator and so do robots. If we recognize this it becomes a bit clearer what differences there are.
Remember, everyone, that people have different beliefs about creation, and each comment is to be respectful and respected.

Now, I'm currently practicing a monotheistic religion of the Abrahamic variety (I've mentioned it in the past, but I'm not going to now), but using religion as a proof in philosophical arguments is weak, to say the least. You're assuming that Universal God and Intelligent Design are indisputable postulates, when I believe in reality there is very little evidence for them. Very.
Now, if you want to use religion as a proof, bring me some proof for religion! Talk godly to me!

No worries, I totally get being busy and disappearing. I’ve been pretty good, thanks. A little overwhelmed with life, and I seem to have somewhat of a cold at the moment, but other than that, not bad. How about you? I don’t think you’ve missed anything big. There was a string of impersonations kinda recently on a few different threads, but I think that’s quieted down now.
