Just stay calm, take deep breaths, smile, and don't overstress. Believe in your abilities. If there's anyone else you know who has taken the test, you can ask them what it was like. I wish you luck!

Focus on what you are doing and the pressure will just melt away.

Yah, don't be nervous. The fact that you are even going to take the test is something to be proud of!! Don't feel bad if you don't get it right, I'm sure you will though!! I never would be able to do that.
You know, I never was nervous taking tests, and I think it was because no one ever told me I should be! Weird huh? I actually thought it was fun to fill in the blanks.
And I want you to think about this: Don't over study. You'll be stressed and tired, and that will make you a little brain-numb. And another thing that probably was a reason I never was scared, is you do what you know. I mean, think about it! They don't expect you to write what you don't know! The whole point of the test is to see if your ready, without working yourself to the bone. If you can't finish it correctly without over studying, then you aren't ready to move on, which is perfectly fine, 99% of your class are most likely going to fifth. If you can do it, great! Congrats! But remember, be yourself. Don't try to be someone else. Chances are if you do, you'll have a lot of trouble keeping up in sixth, and be stressed all the time.

Well, I'm not really an expert on test-taking - I took the WRAT this year, but otherwise I don't have much experience with tests. Study so you'll be prepared, take deep breaths, get a lot of sleep, know that it won't be the end of the world if you fail, and good luck! :)

Thanks again. I'm usually not nervous before tests either, but that's because the only major tests I usually take are the TAKS ones. TAKS is something you have to take in Texas from 3-12th grades to make sure you're even ready to move on to the next one, and those are really easy. This other one, though, is much harder (and by the way, Laura, I'm trying to skip 6th grade not 5th. That's okay, though :D). It's actually a 4-day thing, and the first day was today... I think I did all right. I hope so, anyway.

You'll do great, Ima! Try not to worry too much. Also, if it's a standardized test (I just /detest/standardized tests), don't "read into the questions." I've done that (see fifth grade teacher: "STOP OVERANALYZING!") and because of it I've gotten the occasional question wrong. Figure out what they're looking for in the answer, and give them that. No matter how much you want to give a well-thought-out, in-depth answer. :(
I'll pray for you! I know it'll turn out for the best whatever happens. :)

Thanks! I'm pretty sure it's not a standardized test - it's actually optional, and I just really wanted to skip a grade - but it's in the same format as one, and the same rules apply.

Oh, I thought I put 6th... hmm... I must still be scatterbrained...
Anyway, good luck!!! It sounds like you're going to do fine. :)

Oh, I bet you'll do great. ;D One thing
my teachers would always give us before we
did testing (before I was being homeschooled)
was a peppermint candy. Yeah, sounds weird,
but it's supposed to help your nerves and help
you concentrate. But I doubt you'll need that. ;D

Today was easier. I know I passed the part I took today. Still a bit concerned about yesterday and tommorrow, but I think I'm fine. Thanks again.
