Chatterbox: Down to Earth
Philosophy!&
Philosophy!
I would consider philosphy to be the single most important invention in human times. Without it, there would be no wheel, no technology, no mathematics, no religion, nothing created by people. Here's my philosophy (don't be offended)
Things only exist as how we can sense them. I sese my calculator to be blue, therefore for all intents and purposes, it is blue. I sense my fingers to be typing, therefore for all intents and purposes, they they are typing. We can't tell what matter 'really is' as we are limited by our senses. There is, in one section, your mind, where, you are trapped, only able to peek through the window of our senses, which may be shaded. Outside is reality, but one cannot know what it actually is, as we cannot observe anything except what our senses tell us. I could be upside down, dancing witha pony, but as I sense I am sitting at my computer, that is only what I can know. In the mind, there are you thoughts and feelings, where you intepret things. You all could sense the world very differently than me, but we'd refer to it the same way, as we'd think we'd be seeing the same thing. Your 'red' could be my 'blue' but we both call it red, so it is red. In fact, I can't know whether you actually exist or not, or if you are just chat-bots programmed to fool me. But, I seriously doubt that, as you all act very human. So, in short, we can only sense the world as we are able to, and we can never know what reality really is.
So, what are you views on the world?

Just wondering, do computer chat-boxes do smileys??
And, if you all are computers, I don't care! You're the best friends I've ever had (not including my cousin, Hannah), and I *sniff* probably *sob* wont ever meet you! *sobs more* So it wont make any difference.

Aw. Thanks, Laura. :) Although really, don't be pessimistic about never meeting us... somebody found two of their cousins on here a few months ago (okay, unlikely, but still). And there are always coincidences... like I found Reuben on a list of kids who's taken the same JH test as me, for instance... so yes... :/

Yes, but be careful.

I know... but you are all (well, most of you) so outgoing, go meet new people, travel around America and say hello to strange kids, kids. (That's all good, I wish I was more like you) (and I mean strange, like strangers). I, on the other hand, practically never leave my house, and practically never do any sort of extracurricular activities. I'd never have the guts to sign up for a camp, because I'm way too shy. When I see new kids, I think, aw, I wish I was brave enough to say hello... but I'm not. And I know you're all going to say I should ignore my shyness and say hello, but it's not that easy. My dad thinks I should join a pen-pal group, but I get really nervous meeting new people.
Which probably amazes you all. On here, I guess it's different because I can think about what I am saying before I post it, and I can delete stuff and rewrite it, and I never have to sit in uncomfortable silence, because someone is waiting for me to say something.
It took a lot of guts for me to start commenting on here. I had been considering it for months, but I was WAY too shy... It means more to me that I came on here than you can imagine. (I think. You may have AMAZING imagination skills.) :)
If we DID all meet, that would also take a lot of guts from me. I REALLY REALLY want to, but I'd be so shy. I'd probably stand against a wall, hiding behind my parents. :)
But yes. I agree, it isn't impossible, just highly unlikely. I'll try and be more optimistic about it. :) Thanks Mary W. :) You're right. :)

@ Lena: Always. ;)
@ Laura: You should join a pen pal group. It'd be almost like communicating over the Internet, except a lot slower. ;) And I'm so glad that you got up the courage to post. :)

about the god thing, you think I should put in my two pence? K I will anyway.
Don't you think that if a human wrote the bible, they would naturally make themselves the best? Ok,now to philosephy.
I belive that if two peope share experiances extremely similar, they will think the same things. It is why me and my brother sometimes read each other's mind. I think that we recreated Martin luthor king's life EXACTLY ( impossible, but still)and than did not kill him, we would have another Martin Luthor King.
(July 31, 2009 - 3:47 pm)
I don't know whether I agree or not on the Martin Luther King part. It's a confusing concept.
(July 31, 2009 - 5:09 pm)
I agree. Sorta.
People, in their genes, have a code whether they'll be muscular, thin, fat, or whatever. If, for example, someone raised a baby with a genetic code not to be muscular in exactly the way Micheal Phelps had been raised. They obviously wouldn't become another Micheal Phelps, as they wouldn't have the muscle mass to win the Olympics.
It's possible that the universe revolves around me, and I'm just in this grand scheme to make me into some famous person that lived in our modern times, and it's actually far in the future, and they are trying to recreate that guy. But, as that has no evidence for it, I really don't believe it.

New topic: The concept of nothing. Does nothingness even exist? If a black hole contains nothingness that can suck you in and take you somewhere, is it really nothing? If nothing takes you, how can you have been taken?
And if the outer space between the stars is nothingness, how can it prevent sound? Shouldn't the sound fill it up instead? Maybe it does, and it's so loud, we can't make sense of it, and it sounds like regular noise, so our rains just ignore it? Or maybe nothingness doesn't exist. Maybe the space etween stars and in black holes is some kind of empty energy. Wait... That sounds like what I've heard aboutt dark matter. I should look into this... But still. What if there's no such thing as nothing?
