Nice to meet you Spark! I’m Neko, a fellow cello player and fantasy enthusiast. For creating magical worlds, I recommend starting with the way things work (or did work) in our world and then seeing how magic could be added in. For example: you could take a law against something illegal and turn that illegal thing into...a banned power perhaps? As for names, when in doubt go to an internet or a baby name guide.

As for what to do here, you can post art you’ve made on Pudding’s Place, stories you’ve written on the Inkwell, book reviews on Blab about Books, stuff about your life on Down to Earth, things about Cricket Magizine on This Month and...I’m not actually sure what’s supposed to go on Chirp at Cricket, people use it for lots of stuff. Also, be sure to compliment and give advice to other people and their works!

Hello there Spark! I’m Fireburst, and although my official CB (Chatterbox) appearance is a human, I named myself after a Fire Dragon in a book I am trying to write. (Fireburst is actually the villan. I still am trying to figure out why I named myself after a villan.)

One thing that is nice to know is that the first comment someone makes on a thread sends it into the back pages. To find it again, you can either look through the back pages for a while, or you can click Submitted By twice (except in Blab About Books, where you only have to click once) to sort everything by the order it was posted. Once the first comment shows up, the second one  will send the thread back to the top of the front page. I think if the second comment is posted before the first shows up, the thread is stuck in the back pages. This is why many times on a thread the second comment is just someone saying “Top!”. Often people also do that if a thread is on the second page, as every post brings a thread a little closer to the top.

One last thing: if it takes you a long time to figure out how things work, that’s fine! The first comment I made was on a thread 42 pages from the front, and I never actually made a thread introducing me.

So, on the fantasy things... I base a lot of names of my made up creatures on words from other languages. Or just things I mishear and like the sound of it. For instance:
My best friend and I were talking, and they said "pig balloon." I thought they said "pingalu" and I was like what? So eventually we made up a creature called a pingalu because we liked the sound of it.

Plus, you'll probably get some nice sounding things from your captcha!

I'm not much of a writer (I don't even know why I joined this website), but I draw comics. All I can say for advice is to be inspired by other books/people, your life, etc., but DON'T copy them. Also, magic systems don't have to be complicated or super original, and you can put your own twist on creatures likes elves and dragons for your stories. I hope this helps! Also, if you want to make a brainstorming thread or an RP, I would totally help or join. Fantasy for the win!
