National School Walkouts

Are we allowed to talk about the walk outs Admin? If so, have any of you participated? What did you do? My school did it, and though I wasn't able to actually walk out, I felt like I was a part of it and that I made a difference.

Yes, somewhat, in a positive way.

I believe there are more effective ways to show respect for the victims than simply walking out. I think it's important for people to be responsible in how they show both support and protest. Just because you say you're doing something for a noble cause or sentiment doesn't automatically justify what you're doing, or mean everyone should embrace it.

While we are posting a few comments about the walkout, Chatterbox is not going to support a full discussion on the topic or cause.

My school had a walkout and I was able to participate! The county I live in and my principal were very open to the idea of the walkout and were supportive. We had a big banner for people to sign and some of my friends passed around a pledge for people to sign, which said that the undersigned would vote for politicians who would work to change gun legislation and supported gun control. I signed it. I can't vote yet, but I will be able to by the next presidential election. One of the boys in my class actually organized the walkout for our school and gave a speech. I climbed up a pole to hear him better and got some fantastic pictures as well! When we all stand together, we can make a difference. They can't ignore so many voices all across the nation. We are the generation that will make a real difference in the world.

My school did a walkout while I was in Japan and my friend heard it on Snapchat and I think we facetimed people who were walking so that we could be there in spirit.  I didn't read any of the comments on this thread, just wanted to share that.
