Ok. So this

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Ok. So this

Ok. So this is a sensitive topic, and I hope this is ok to talk about.

As some of you may know, today there was a national walkout protesting gun violence. At 10:00, students could leave class for 17 minutes in honor of the 17 lives taken at Parkland.

I think everyone should have the right to sit in a classroom and not have to worry about the safety of their classmates and themselves.

Today at 10:00, a wave of orange left our school and stood at the curb, and I felt safe. And I hope we can all feel safe

So in the words of the movement,

Enough is enough.

I was just about to make a thread about this. our school participated in the walkout. for us, the whole protest was student-led and was started by a committee of me and a few other 8th graders. a bunch of people gave speeches, which were all really good. My friend gave a speech that she had performed at a Malibu gun rally a few weeks and a clip of it was on the LA Times website.

We also painted signs and hung them all around our school, and it was really impactful to see that people cared. I truly believe that gun reform needs to happen and that we can make the change. we may just be kids but a lot of us really, really care about this, maybe more than a lot of adults do because we're the ones that have to go to school every day and live with that. the whole world has been changed by young people who care a whole awful lot. it's happened before and it can happen again, and yes: enough is enough. if we want change we have to make it ourselves.
