"However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don't just give up."
Family said he passed away peacefully but hasn't given out any details. Regardless, I find it pretty amazing that a man who wasn't expected to live past his 20s made it to 72 years old. Rest in peace :(

Apologies, he was born four years earlier than I thought (1942).

STEVEN HAWKING! R.I.P. *sniffs*

Let's take a moment to appreciate all the scientific developments that he contributed to this world.
Thanks, Stephen Hawking.

I bet he would like the idea of dying on Pi Day, a notoriously math-y day, but it's really sad that he's gone. I don't know much about him except that he was an incredibly smart astrophysicist who despite having motor neurone disease (which I just found out by looking it up) could share his smarts with the world, but I'm still sad that he's gone. Rest in Piece Stephen Hawkings.

That was today? I heard about it this morning. ...I kind of want to hold funeral games like the Ancient Greeks. But we're not exactly a sports--wait a minute, we could have intellectual funeral games! Writing, esoteric knowledge quizzes, idea or theory contests, maybe a debate... It might be a strange way to mourn, I don't know (I've not had to do much mourning in my life), but it could be a tribute.
(I might not be the best person to arrange it all, though, I know very little about Stephen Hawking)

That sounds pretty cool, and like something he might have liked, but I also know very little about Stephen Hawkings.

*bows head* Goodbye, Stephen Hawking. The world mourns you.
