Any unhappy happenings that happen to happen or happen to be happening happen to not by our happenings so I don't care what happens. Well, AEBALL! said we could start after four and a half CBers commented with their Æs, and since we've passed that point, I thought it would be okay if I started. I hope that's okay with everyone.
Far~
I thought a ball would be enjoyable, a chance to get out, to meet some people. And, since Seren was going to come...
Well, I'm afraid I didn't exactly think this through. As I walk up to the building, I realize it's huge. I'm suddenly very uncomfortable. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I wish I had stayed back home, in the woods.
But I'm here now. I take a deep breath, and walk in.
The doors go straight into the ballroom, which is huge, and elegant, decorated beautifully. It makes me feel small. I glance around quickly, but I don't see Seren anywhere. I am one of the first ones to arrive, however, and soon a few more people arrive.
I drift over to the refreshments, located at the end of the Ballroom, near a door that I assume leads into the battle room. I glance over the assortment of strange food and decide I'm not hungry. So I begin to pace, slowly.

I don't think Nymph is coming. She never signed up; I don't blame her. I know she prefers her woods. So I'm going stag. But I'm fine with that. It'll be nice to be able to go to ball without my nerves standing on end. Maybe it'll give me a chance to pull some pranks. I'm always nervous around girls. They're so unpredictable, and you never know what they're thinking. Except for Wren. I almost always know what she's thinking.
The ballroom's huge. I immediately find the refreshment table and help myself to a handful of cookies, shoving them in my mouth before anyone can notice how many I've taken. I realize too late that maybe the way my cheeks are bulging is more noticeable than eating the cookies one at a time.
Meh. At this point, I don't really care.
I notice Far's over here, too. He's pacing, and he looks nervous. I almost feel bad for him. It's his first ball, and he's already got a date, although I don't think she's here yet. I was surprised he wanted to come. I thought he'd rather hide in the woods. By the way he looks, I think he's changed his mind about the whole ball thing. It must be awkward, being the only elf here yet. I'm sure he'll feel better when Seren gets here.
I wander over to some seats pushed up against the wall and sit down. I need to plan out my first prank.

As I walk into the ballroom, I wonder why I'm here. I don't have a date, I'm socially awkward, and I basically have no friends. I'll have to interact with people on a large scale. I'll probably be miserable.
Leeli said that maybe I'll meet some nice people. But I kind of doubt that.
I suddenly think of Storm. Silver said he'd be gone for the winter.
I can't wait for spring.

Ah, I understand completely. I'm sure Devin does too, although he'll be a little disappointed to have to prank everyone by himself (it's a big job, best done by two or more, but he will certainly manage).

Huh, my post got edited. I thought what I'd put was allowed.
Striped carnations, yes. Carnations have different meanings according to their color, which is due in part to the Victorian era, in which they were used to send coded messages between those in romantic situations. Basically the question would be a yes/no question or an invitation, and the recipient would send back a carnation. Red meant yes, yellow meant no, and striped meant regretfully, no. Other colors represent other things--white carnations are for pure love and good luck, purple are for capriciousness, and pink are for a mother's love. Red carnations have extra meanings, too--light red is for admiration, and dark red is for deep love and affection. For my bouquet, I would have chosen white and red stripes, to say that I'm sorry, she's not coming, but good luck, she still likes you, and I ship you. ;)
