Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Alfred couldn't sleep. There was something weighing on his mind that he had been pondering for a long time. And he had reached a decision.

Alfred stay any longer.

He just didn't fit in on the CB anymore. He was drifting away. It was time to go. Everyone had their time, and Alfred felt it was his.

He got out of bed and started packing a suitcase. Soon he had his few belongings stuffed inside a little bag. He bought some train tickets online, and climbed back into bed. He planned to leave the next morning.

And at the first light of dawn, he crawled quietly out of bed, got dressed, and grabbed his things. The train left early.

Alfre had hoped to leave without notice, but just as he started to close the door behind him, someone opened it. It was Wren. Behind her stood Devin And Leeli.

"Alfred?"

He sighed.

The train station wasn't far. Alfred had explained his leaving as best he could on the way. They stood by the tracks now, saying their goodbyes.

Alfred walked up to Devin and tussled his hair. "Farewell lad." Devin for once wasn't grinning. He seemed to be holding back tears. He said nothing, but forced a sad smile.

"Farewell, Wren." Wren wrapped her arms around Alfred. "Bye." She smiled and wiped away a tear.

Finally he reached Leeli.

"Bye Alfred." She said. "I get why you have to leave."

Alfred smiled. "I know. You'll have to explain to Devin and Wren. They won't understand."

"Will we ever see you again?"

"I don't suppose I'll be coming back. But I might visit now and again."

Just then the train pulled in, and Alfred boarded. As the train pulled out of the station, he leaned out the window and called out his last goodbyes to the CB.

So Alfred's off on another adventure, one we can not follow him on.  

When I first joined, I created my first Æ: Alfred. He was supposed to be a sort of helper, a guide to show me around the CB. Almost like a butler. I was new after all. He wasn't very well developed, and not much fun to write. I've kept him around all these years, but lately he's felt he's drifting away. And he felt the same. 

I knew it was time for him to leave.

I just wanted to let you all know that you won't be seeing him around anymore. But look forward to a new Æ coming soon!
