Christmas lists!
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
Christmas lists!
Christmas lists!
So what do y'all* want for Christmas, and what are you planning to give? I don't have anything that I really want this year, but this is my list so far:
-- Books of vocal or piano solos
-- The novel kind of book
-- The note kind of book
-- Art supplies, partic. better colored pencils, a small sketchbook, and more acrylics (probably spelled wrong but too lazy to look it up)
-- Ankle boots
-- Casual long-sleeved tops
As far as what I'm giving, I'm knitting my brother a blanket, but it probably won't be done in time! So I'll give him a blanket "certificate" or something. For my parents I'm going to probably write some funny parodies or short stories. For my grandparents I'm putting together a short book of this year's poems, which I do annually.
I'm giving one of my friends a notebook and some invisible ink pens. Another one of my friends wants to learn how to play piano but doesn't have one, so I'm going to give her an electric keyboard that we got a few years ago but didn't use, as well as some earrings I made her. Another one of my friends requested me simply to learn and record for her eight measures of a piano piece, which I'll do, but I definitely want to do more than that for her! Other than that I don't know yet... ideas?
* I know, I'm not southern. But there's reall no good way of saying "you, plural" in English, like "vous" in French. Sigh.

Great thread idea, Shoshannah! While Christmas can be materialistic, I love the giving aspect of it and it's good to think about that as well as things that we want.
I don't have an actual Christmas/Hannukah list— I've sort of outgrown the "stuff" phase— but I'd like to get nice sweaters, art supplies, and possibly the Six of Crows box set (or a nice copy of Carry On).
As for what I'm giving people, I kind of just started thinking about that. Late as usual... anyway. For my friends, I'm planning on making them personalized bookmarks/prints on nice cardstock. (I'll post those on this thread or on the art one once I'm done.) I think I'll give my brother a gag gift, something stupid and silly that we can laugh at.
As for my parents, I've been considering doing something similar to what you're doing, Sho, and compiling a book of short stories and poems that I've written recently. However, I probably would need to ask at least one of my parents to help with that (ordering and pricing and such), so it would only be a surprise for one.
For my extended family, I may make a set of paper dolls for my little cousins and draw a Gilbert and Sullivan poster for my uncle, but since I'm not seeing most of them this holiday season, I may not get around to it. We'll see!

Merry Christmas Shoshannah!!!
I usually like to get fuzzy things, and chocolate and stuff. The best part of Christmas (I think) is picking out and watching people open gift you bought or made. It always brings joy to the season! I also like surprising people. ;)

I don't quite have a "list", but I have some things that I have been dropping hints that I wish to receive!
- The Harry Potter complete series
- KOTLC complete series (thought I already own book six, so I would only need books 1-5)
- Some piano music of popular songs.
- Fancy new yarns.
- Gift cards for Barns and Noble and Hobby Lobby
- Other than that......well, people say that I'm hard to shop for!
I'm giving my best friend a bar of rich chocolate (We both die for the stuff) and I am also knitting her a headband and possibly some fingerless mitts. I think that this year, I am going to make gifts for all my family. Like a set of washcloths for this aunt, and maybe a wall decoration for this arsty aunt, slippers for this uncle, stuff like that. I am definatly (however unfortunatly) one of those people who all of the sudden looks up from their world of daydreaming and sees that Christmas is HOLY BUCKETS IT'S TOMORROW! and zips out to buy (or make, in my case) everyone's gifts at the literal last minute. How wondefull it is to be me XD

For Christmas, all I really want is a guitar or money to buy one. I also kind of said I wanted material, because I'm running ot of old t-shirts to cut up and sew, and makeup brushes since I have none and have been putting on concealer with an old paintbrush... which I'm sure is not good...
For gifts, I'm making all my friends and close family art! I also went to the mall on Saturday and got my sis a gym bag (since she's playing VB this year, !!), and my mom and aunt some nice things like candles, bracelets, soap, etc., which isn't very original, but they'll like it.

There's not really a whole lot that I want this year, but I just think it comes with age. But of course, there are a few things ;)
~Chuck seasons 2,3, and 4 on DVD
~Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor
~Legend of Zelda DS game
~A set of Tombow brush pens
~A Barnes and Noble gift card
~A vacation themed scrapbooking set.
And yeah. That's about the extent of my Christmas wishlist. But for presents I'm giving, I'm getting my dad a Justice League tshirt and a Star Wars themed mug, my mom a cookbook she's been wanting, and my brother a couple of books he wanted. So yeah.

Holiday season! Like a couple of y'all, I think I've kinda grown out of the whole gift thing as well, but I do really want a book subscription box. . yeah. . . i think that's it.
For my friends, I'm making them all felt squirrel ornaments and for my bookish friends, I'm making personalized bookmarks. I'm making mini hand-lettered care package type things for my pen pals and my cousins, though I'm not sure what i'm going to do for all the adults in my family yet.. .
