Have you already said you'd buy it with your own money? Along with promising to get more exercise, it worked for me. I was faced with the same problem not so long ago. *remembers* No, actually, It was only a couple months ago.

Thanks Emily! I already said I would buy it with my own money but my parents said I should use my money on wiser things. Your parents are probably easier than mine. But thanks for the help.

Really. I've been trying to convince my parents too. Hasn't worked yet.

Nothing works with mine...it depends on a lot of things.

I already said I would buy it with my own money but my parents say I should use my money on wiser things.Ugh!Saying I would get more exercise probably woudn't work either. My grandma would get me one but she doesn't want my dad to be mad at her.You are SO lucky Emily!

Everyone said all the advice that culd help, I don't have any good advice for ya. My grandma is probably a lot like yours. A worry butt. Is a granddaughter-spoiler. i say that she's a alien thats trying to spoil all the kids on earth.

If you don't have enough money, save up until you do, and then ask again. That shows that you're responsible, and should help. If you already have enough money (not counting college fund or anything like that) and have promised you would pay, and they still won't let you buy it, think. Is there anything they've been telling you to do that you keep putting off? Do that, too. And if it's something that you have to keep doing (in Emily's case 'twas exercise), then promise you will. I might be able to help more if you said why they don't want you to have it, as well.

First off, you can offer to pay for it with your own money. You could also offer to do extra chores around the house. It may help get your parents on their good side if you're very responsible for the next couple weeks.

Wiser things... like what? What would you use the money for otherwise? Do you think that if you didn't buy the DS, you would buy something wiser? I don't know what you usually spend money on...

I really don't know what kind of wiser things I'm supposed to buy with my money. It's the only thing I'm going to say I want for my birthday(which is soon).I don't really spend my money on anything else.I'll try to say I'll do more chores or something. Please give me more advice as soon as you see this comment.

I'll ask my cousin. She just convinced hers to get her one for Christmas. :)

I've been trying to convince my parents to get me alot of things lately... none have worked. No wii, no cellphone, and no DS. :(

If you have nothing to do this summer but play video games, and your parents know it, good luck on the DS. You should make plans to do stuff like I am. I'm gonna be in two plays this summer and camp so I'm pretty busy. :D

TOTALLY true, Cramer. My parents said they would think about a Wii after summer's over.

I have a lot to do besides playing video games. You should know how much work I have to do!Do you even know what thistles are? They're stupid weeds that we have to cut by our selves with spades. All of you guys are so lucky you don't have to do that!
