Chatterbox: Down to Earth

AAAAHHHH! School is

AAAAHHHH! School is drawing ever closer! I have maybe three more weeks left of summer! *runs around screaming*

So, I remember everybody getting out of school at different times, which means school will start for us at different times. When does the school year start/end for all of you? And *takes deep breath*

-What time does school start every day?

-What time does school end?

-How many class periods do you have every day?

-How long are they (the class periods)?

-What grade are you guys going into?

For me, school starts at 7:45 a.m. (ET) and ends at 2:35 p.m. every day. I have nine class periods (counting lunch/advisory) that all last 42 loooooooonnng, boooorriinnngg minutes. I have three minutes to get from class to class. Lunch is split in half, one half being lunch, and one half being advisory; basically a mini study hall.

I'm going into the dreaded 8th grade (actually, I'm dreading eveything from 8th grade to 12th), and I recently found out that unless my schedule changes, I got into Biology! Which is in the High School... (The Middle School and High School are connected.)

Ah, yes, I love our snack break. I sometimes skip breakfast when I'm running late and just eat then. :P

Okay! Here we go!

1. School starts at 8:30 on Tuesdays at Thursdays, and whenever we finish breakfast and Bible time on other days.

2. School ends at 4:20 on Tuesdays and somtime earlier (maybe 2:30) on Thursdays. On Mondays school usually won't end until late at night, as Monday is a big cram day. Wednesdays and Fridays are pretty docile, with school ending at supper time.

3. Ummm, on actual class days? Let's see...about 4 if you count Study Hall, 3 if you don't.

4. Various. I'm not going to list out everything, but every day except Tuesdays and Thursdays are a mush of whatever I need to get done, and my actual classes are about 2 and a half hours long, give or take depending on the classes.

5. Officially, 9th grade, but most of my classes are on a College Prep level, and I'm the age of a 10th grader. So yeah. HOMESCHOOLING!

I'm taking some interesting things this year. Biology 1, University Model (history + liturature + docrtine and theology), Advanced Drama, and Geometry. This is my first year that I'm taking all my subjects from our an academy (our resource center) instead of taking a few at home, too. I'm also doing some extracuricular stuff. I'm striving for a fine arts credit with my piano and swimming as much as I can to go towards some sort of P.E. credit. I've never actually taken P.E. before. My version of exercise is 10 laps in the pool at our Country Club, jogging/walking around our farm, or doing Yoga. Occasionally, Queen Elizabeth will sit on my feet and order 10 situps, because they are the bane of my exsistance. Then I'll make her do tricep dips, because those are the banes of her exsistance. So yeah. I guess this all seems pretty...I don't know...sporadic, but hey, that's homeschooling! Any other high schoolers going for honors?

In my district, the school year starts on the last Monday in August, which, this year, is the 28th. School (officially) ends the second Friday in June, which, this year, is the 8th, but classes end the first Friday in June (the 1st), and the last week of school is for exams.

The school day starts at 7:15 (EST) for the first two weeks, and then the first bell gets pushed back to 7:25. School gets out at 2:15, and I won't have to ride the bus this year, because my twin got her license and will be able to drive us to and from school. Class periods are about an hour and a half, except for third block, which is about three hours long because all of the lunches are during that block. And there's four class periods in a school day.

I'm going into 11th grade, and I'm terrified.

It starts at 8:15- ends at 3:00. (September 5th to June 12)

I'm going into 5th, so no periods. Subjects are usually 45 minutes each. P.E. is 30 minutes, Recess is 30 minutes, lunch is 30 minutes, and Snack is 15.
