How Art Thee?

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

How Art Thee?

How Art Thee?

Haha, we don't need to do this in Shakespeare (unless you want to) but I feel we have a ton of games and "get to know you" and things like that which is great! And a... Monkwee Invasion? Anywho, I feel we should simply get to talk! Obviously, no instant chat, but we will manage.

So, how are you all today? Doing anything fun?

I'm enjoying the morning, before it gets hot! It's been getting up to like 110 degrees! That, combined with the fact that my mom's sick, means that we've pretty much just been lying on the couch all day, because the living room has a step down, so it's cooler.

Aww, I'm sorry your mom is sick! I hope she gets better soon. Yep, it's been pretty hot here too. 103 I think yesterday or the day before. Plus with all the fires in Canada the smoke was so bad the sun literally disappeared for a few hours, not even a hint of light. Kinda creepy if you ask me xD Well, at least your living room is a bit cooler, that's nice.

My mom's feeling better now. Wow! We didn't have that much smoke here, but the sky was (and still kinda is) brownish. The moon was red. It was really weird. It's not as hot anymore, which is nice.

My captcha sounds like a toddler!XD yyno!

Hmmm. Lots of back to school stuff now. I recently got my schedule for high school and my family went shopping for school supplies. We're also replacing a lot of our unhealthy food with healthy yet kind of bland food (we already eat healthy, just trying to be even healthier). Who knew that water crackers would taste so terrible? I've also been last minute memorizing a few countries for a test on all the countries that will happen on the first week of school because I forgot about the tiny Carribean countries, and that has been causing a bit of stress.

Also, does anyone know what the x-intercept of the line y=0 is? I haven't done any Algebra in a year and I've completely forgotten! I'm not sure if it would be something like infinite answers or more like negative infinity to positive infinity. It's been bugging me for so long!

Have you done anything interesting Ashlee?

Goodness, you are busy! My homeschool does not start until the 21st of this month, so we will probably do school shopping a week or a few days before. Water... crackers? Never heard of it! I must try them and offer you my opinion.

As for math... err... I have no idea xD. If it has a graph with it, then count whatever the point is on the x. If not, then 0 as well? Not really sure.

Hmm... interesting. I've watched a TON of Doctor Who, working on editing my book (cheers!) and things like that. Oh, and two of my siblings and I are going over to Seattle for the week on the 13th! We will be staying with my grandma then. Other than that, nothing super interesting! Unless you want to hear the story about how I was so dehydrated at 1 AM that I thought the clocks were lying and I nearly hit my head on a nail. Long story. xD

In the same way, the x-axis is also the line "y = 0". Then, algebraically, an x-interceptis a point on the graph where y is zero, and. a y-intercept is a point on the graph where x is zero.

Found online. not so good. :D Shows the internet is not the best...

I decided to just be satisfied with 'inifinte answers', which is techinically true. The x axis has an infinite number of x intercepts.

@Foxy:Thanks for looking it up! Yeah, I actually find it really hard to get acurate but straight answers from the internet.

@Ashlee: I heard about the lying clock! The trip to Seattle sounds nice, have fun!

Yep, long time no chat! That sounds great though, friends and horses are nice. That reminds me of this gathering we had on a farm! We became glowing galaxies, literally, glowing. xD

well, my summers been great! I've done a ton of traveling and visiting relatives so that was fun. I also got to do super awesome stuff like swimming with dolphins and manta rays! IT WAS AMAZING. ah, yes. The "Monkwee" invasion. Anyone know how they made those pictures? Weird... Anywayzers, algebra... Let's see... I remember something about unknown or one? I think that's for slope... I dunno. I know I learned it but I can't remember it. I still have summerbrain. XD oooh! Pie is good. Especially with vanilla ice cream. Awww now I'm hungry... Even though I ate two burritos, some mashed potatoes, one and a half chicken breasts, and some rice for dinner. XD Also, hot pink fluffy bunnies... Hmmmmmm... Can't think of anything to say about them except that they're awesome and amazing.

This is a wonderful thread, Ashlee. so glad to see some other homeschoolers here!! I go to Excelsior Academy (a resource) twice a week. Orientation was today. I'm going to attend the University Model high school class there, which offers a classical Christian education through a cool curriculum called Omnibus, which is entirely focused on learning through literature!!! In addition to the regular collage prep stuff (no way! I'm not going to college, it's just kind of an academic high school so they use terminology like that),  also taking Doctrine and Theology! Wow, that was a boring batch of sentences. anyway,  I'm excited about the literature, even if we're reading tough stuff like The Social Contract and Mein Kampf and The Communist Manifesto mixed in with the goodies like A Tale of Two Cities and Gulliver's Travels. Everyone says I'm going to be so smart and well read coming out of the class, but I feel as if I'm not.going to be able to handle all the controversial topics and such, and might always come up with the wrong things in my essays. Even though my mom has taught me to love education in this way (facing controversial topics in history and applying the Bible to them), I'm still a little nervous I won't be able to understand everything. I mean, this is the education I've always wanted (I love Theology and literature!), but I probably will need a scholarship for college (5 siblings), and my high school stuff WILL show up on my record. Urgh. I don't like growing up.

Okay, that turned into quite the rant. Anyway, how do y'all do school? What's public school like? Do you do extracurricular activities there or at home? What do you read??? That's always the most important question!
