Any cellists out

Any cellists out there? I've played piano for eight years, and though I recently started doing voice, I'm interested in taking up the cello as well. My mom doesn't want me to try it until we've gotten into the routine of the school year, but we have a friend who has a cello she doesn't play anymore, and she'd at least lend it to us to start me off.

So, any thoughts on playing the cello? Or any instrument, really?

On a semi-related note, this summer I went to a classical music camp in upstate New York, and it was amazing!!! <3<3 

 

I love the sound of the cello! Wanting to play it is great motivation. Go for it. How soon does school start? Maybe you have time now to begin. Ask if your friend or a trusted area musician can recommend a good teacher.

I am a violinist and vocalist (yep, I'm hardcore about singing and I count it as an instrument hehe technically vocal chords are). Also, I can play the piano, although I don't take lessons anymore, so it's not something I regular practice, strengthen and participate in like voice and violin.

Ohmyprotons another cellist!! I would highly recommend the cello if you want to play it. I went from piano to cello as well, and it's easy at first because you already know the bass clef. Be warned, though- you will eventually have to learn other clefs that you may or may not have played on piano, like tenor (although tenor isn't really that hard~ it's basically bass moved up a couple lines). Overall the cello is an amazing instrument, and you can do so much with it!

I play the string bass! I was considering whether to do cello or bass, and I decided on bass. I can also play piano, sing, play the dulcimer, and play the violin and cello (not that much though XD).

I used to play cello and now play piano but I only quit because My teacher started teaching at our high school and I cant take lessons with him anymore
