Many of you may be confused by this title. (Pronounced hup-rat, or what you would get by pronouncing an H and then a P immediately after.)
HPRAT stands for Harry Potter Read-A-Thon, something I invented. Basically, I'm going to be doing it thrice-annually. Once on the last weekend of July, once spread out over the day after Halloween to the end of my birthday on November 2nd, and once sometime in the spring.
So, what I'm doing is starting at 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, I'll start reading the first Harry Potter book. My goal is to read as much Harry Potter as I can before 12:00 a.m. Monday. (Sleep is not necessary, although it is suggested.) I'll pause only for bathroom breaks, computer time, and when my mom wants me to do chores or whatever. I'll be keeping a record of how many HP books I read, and I'll try to beat that record each time I do HPRAT. (The November one is a "recreational" HPRAT, because it's Halloween & my b-day. I'll keep a seperate record for that.) I'm going for the ultimate Harry Potter nerd goal, to read the entire series in 48 hours. Although I think that will take some practice.
If anyone wants to join me on this endeavor, you can! And at the end we can compare how many pages each person's read.

UPDATE! I cannot get ahold of book three, so my new goal is reading the first two books as fast as I can!

Sounds great! I'll try, but I likely won't be able to get to the fourth book in time, since my brothers' reading the series and he's a really slow reader. I don't have access to my books right now though, so I'll start tomorrow night.

Well, I didn't get to read as much as I would have wanted to this weekend, because my mom got annoyed at me for walking around with my nose stuck in a book, and then I made whoopie pies, and I guess it was too nice out to be reading the whole time. Nevertheless, I managed to read at total of 1,460 pages or about 1/3 of the way into the 4th book.

So, I didn't get very far at all. My parents pulled me into doing yard work for almost the whole weekend, so I only got to page 62 of book 2.
