Chatterbox: Down to Earth
Hey, nerds!I
Hey, nerds!
I'm not an adult yet, so I can't be kicked off the CB (but soon, shh, don't tell the Admins) and I wanted to see how you guys are doing. I recognize a good number of you and some I don't, but I'd like to meet you.
For people who don't know who I am, I'm an ordinary person, I guess. I used to come on the CB from 2011 until today. I live at home still because of a disability but I am going to a local college in the fall. I am fluent in English and Japanese now and do translation work, although I don't get paid for it. I tutor and do get paid for it (yikes, I have a job. That's spooky).
Fun fact! I stopped growing at age 12 due to health issues and am forever stuck at a 12-year-old's height. Medical science has allowed me through a pretty normal puberty, though, so even though it's very late, my voice has started getting deeper. Is this happening to any of the guys here yet?
Hope you're all doing well. Please tell me what you've been up to.
Hi, Ruby! It's good to hear from you. FYI, we don't kick people off due to age.

RUBYYYY!
Haha, I'm probably overreacting considering I don't think we were especially close, but YOU'RE BACK! Hello! I'd ask how you are, but you said so right there, so it would be pretty pointless, eh?
Well, hello, you've met me before - I'm St.Owl, thirteen, yet another user of this website. I seem to be compiling a resumè as a cat-sitter, I'm still wasting away in front of a computer screen, and I now make horrible music on a violin. (no joke - I recorded myself, it's awful, I sound like a rusty door hinge.) Remind me, do you play any instruments?
Um, yes, that's about all I have to say.
(July 4, 2017 - 8:04 pm)
St. Owl! I'm honored to call you a friend, so I'm happy to see you! Is our other owl friend, Booksy, still hanging around?
I am doing well! And I hope you are too! It sounds like things are going well. Cat sitting is a lot of fun. Do you have any photos of your charges?
Good luck with the violin. If you keep it up, you'll be fantastic someday. I don't play anything. I used to be able to play flute, but I have since forgotten.
(July 5, 2017 - 6:15 pm)
Booksy just recently returned! So, aye, she's here as well.
Unfortunately not! I'll have to get some. That is a good idea. I do have some lovely canine candids of my own pooch, though, if you're interested.
Haha, I hope so. For right now, I've only succeeded in making my dog try to bury her face in the couch cushions. Soothing the savage beast, eh?
Do you cat-sit often? Mostly the reason I do is because I adore them, but everyone in my family's allergic except me. So when people go away . . . "LET ME WATCH YOUR CATS!"
(July 6, 2017 - 7:41 pm)
I would love to see dog photos! I love dogs to bits!
I am unfortunately allergic to cats, so I tend to avoid most animals that aren't my own. I wish I could cat-sit more, but they make me a sneezing mess.

Oh, great! Here's a recent one of my Bluebell. She wanted to go outside, so she was staring at me . . . and farting. Unfortunately, whenever I tried to get her really intense glare, she would dash to the door.
Ah, that's too bad. I know how that is. Are your cats hypoallergenic, so you can live with them?
Here's another question for you: what are you majoring in in college this fall?
(July 7, 2017 - 2:12 pm)
I love your dog. Tell her that I love her, farts and all.
My cats are hyperallergenic, as it turns out, but I'm apparently used to their hair so it doesn't bother me that much. I do constantly have a stuffy nose, though.
I am majoring in computer sciences in the fall! I love working with code so I'm looking forward to doing something with that for a career.

Ruby, my friend, it’s so good to see you! I hope you never
fully leave. You’re a CBer many of us look up to, so it’d be sad to see you disappear
forever. Anyway, I’ve not been up to much lately…just summer SAT-Prep class
homework and relaxing after a long run for the show I was just in. What’s new
with you?

Hi, HSG! It's great to see you again! I plan to stick around for as long as I can before it gets weird. Someday I'll be Ruby M., age 84, gallivanting all over the interwebs shaking my cane at young whippersnappers.
I honestly don't know why you look up to me. I don't think I've done anything particularly good.
I'm sorry that SAT prep is a thing. In an ideal world, college admissions would be better than they are and you'd be admitted for being a good person with a desire to learn, not what your grades are or what an arbitrary test score says. How did the show go? What did you guys perform?
There's not much new with me that I haven't already said. I got a copy of the Sims, so I've been over the moon about that. I may make some CBer Sims.

Hi Ruby! Good to hear from you! The Hamilton craze swept the chatterbox a little while back, and then something else happened that I'm not sure about (I was at Governor's School writing like crazy and drinking hot chocolate and doing crazy arts teens stuff for two weeks), but other than that, things have been rolling like normal.
(July 4, 2017 - 9:12 pm)
Hi, Rosebud! Gee, you're almost 15? Wow, you're getting old. :( What are you hoping to get for your birthday?
I had a Hamilton craze for... a week, maybe, when I liked two of the songs. I'm not super fond of the musical for personal reasons.
What is Governor's School? It sounds like an amazing posh place where you have tea with the queen! And art and writing and hot chocolate sounds amazing fun.
(July 5, 2017 - 6:23 pm)
Yep! I'll be 15 in less than 2 months. My real wish is tickets to Hamilton, but that won't happen. I'd also like to have to more Nigerian Dwarf goats who I'm planning to name Pippin and Merry, but that might not happen either since I already have like 25 pets (we live on a rather crazy farm. I love it). You can't believe I'm getting old??? Gosh, when you first came back on when I was here, you where what...14? 15? I don't know. It's been a while.
Also, Governor's School is the best school for the arts where I live. It's pretty much where a bunch of crazy kids who would rather work on their passions during the summer instead of other things go and take classes and perform and do African Dances in the park (don't ask). Other than that, it's a nice school with a loooooooong application process that took me months to complete. I wasn't sure I would get in, but I did, along with another CBer who used to be Cloudy Dweller but is now Cinderella.
Also, don't leave just b/c you're older. Even BHR and SC pop in to say hello and/or debate a bit on whatever the current issue is. Ashlee is also like 16 or so. This is the type of place that you don't grow out of; instead, you just find less and less time for it when you grow older. That's my theory.
And one more thing. I tell stories about my dresser and what's on it now and how that can tell you a lot about a person. Didn't you start that in an old Cricket issue or was that some other magazine I read???
Good to have you back!

Hi, Ruby! It's nice to see you! You probably don't remember me, but I definitely know who you are. CB has been its usual self, for the most part. People come and go, RPs are born and die. There were a couple of conflicts, but we'll heal and get over it like we always do.
(July 5, 2017 - 9:20 am)
I remember you, Abigail! It's great to see you again. I'm looking forward to trying an RP or two here. Can you recommend some good ones to read or join?
(July 5, 2017 - 6:24 pm)
Hello! I've heard of you, although we've never met. From what I know, you're an illustrious figure here. I think everyone's been doing pretty well, although a few people have left. Everything seems to be just about the usual; we've got a World Dom going on, a bunch of contests, a couple of recipes, a book log, some solo writes and RPs, and a few newcomers like me. Confetti angel in celebration of everything there is to celebrate:

Hi, Viola, nice to meet you!
Your art is wonderful. It reminds me of my grandmother's art, and she's a professional artist. You have the talent to go pro! So keep practicing.
