Elementgirl, what happened? I understand your feelings, but the CB has to stay a place where we love and forgive one another, so let us try to be a bit more gentle. Also, as Admin stated, it could be more than one person.

And I got to say, look around. The majority of our CBers are quite young, and I remember when I first came on, I was very tempted to impersonate. Why? Because it seemed like quite enjoyable fun! Living in someone else's shoes, feeling how it is to be them. It's a thrill. But I was only 9, and I knew this was wrong. So instead I went to impersonating myself. To be honest, that was quite amusing.

But my point is, younger people - and even some older kids - feel tempted to impersonate. Not to be rude, but because they are bored, or crave attention and honor. I cannot count how many times even last year the thought ran through my mind briefly. Just to see how it was. I would never dare do that to any of you because I know the consequences, but sometimes that thought of it being wrong doesn't run across their mind until afterward.

So please, impersonator(s), do not do this again. But do know, you are our family here, we cherish you as anyone else! So, even if what you did hurt people, I am willing to forgive you.

The person who impersonated Butterfly came out under a pseudonym and explained that they were really sorry about it and that they wanted the chatterbox to know how missed Butterfly would be if she actually did leave. While I don't necessarily agree with that way of doing things by taking someone's name without their permission just to prove a point, it at least seemed like a decent motive, and they apologized, so I was okay with it.

I don't remember DiamondBright being impersonated and I can't seem to find the thread where you were. And yes, as Admin said, it is most likely different, unrelated people who are all just out for attention and want to create some drama for some reason.

Wait, what?? Where was I when all this was happening?! Did all this happen on Saturday? Four people? Holy cow. 

I agree with elementgirl. Impersonator(s), I know it seems amusing, but it's kind of scary. You don't need to admit to it, but please stop. The CB isn't about this. It's about writing stories and creating characters, sharing art and exchanging ideas. It's not about making other people feel unsafe online, so please don't do it again. Thanks.

Whoa whoa whoa, what the heck have I missed the two days I've been off the CB?

I was impersonated earlier today. Luckily I caught the thread and the Admins deleted it, but it feels horrible. It wasn't even a good impersonation of me, which disappoints me a little. I mean, if you're going to do it, then do it well. 

Whoever you are, please stop. I won't force you to come out, but I want you to. If you do, please, please say that it was you (under a MADE UP NAME) and that you are sorry. 

Just for the record, Cho's also been impersonated. And someone else...who was it? Um...well, now I don't remember. But--oh, Elementgirl, did you join after the Æ/Gender War?

Anyway, I didn't see my impersonation. When did it happen? 

Elementgirl, I am sure this is not the same person. After the person impersonated me, they told me who they were through outside sources. I saw this post and sent it to them, and they said that was not them, they swore. 

I think one reason that impersonating keeps happening is because of the rivalry that used to be on here. There was a point when there were tons and tons of compliment threads, and the same CBers were being done over and over and over again. This led to the so called "minor CBers" to be was and mad. I think impersonating is a way for those CBers to get attention. (I know this from experience, a long long long longgg time ago, I impersonated someone. Don't worry, I haven't done it since, and I revealed myself. The thread was later deleted.) Please don't do it for attention, this causes hate and confusion among us.

So impersonator, please don't be afraid of posting under your real CB name, or even Anonymously. We won't mind, I promise.

I looked at your impersonation, and I'm really sorry about that.  Is it possible that the person just made a mistake?  The impersonation was a question, so maybe they actually had a question, and maybe they put your name in the name box by accident. Just some thoughts.  I'm really sorry that happened, but it could have been a mistake because it was one sentence, and not a whole post or many sentences.  Again, I'm really sorry this happened to you.  I'm also sorry if this is offending you, but this is a thought that should be contemplated.
