The Chicken or
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
The Chicken or
The Chicken or the Egg!
What came first, the chicken or the egg? I have had this discussion many times with my friends and family, and I always say the same thing. Remember, be polite and respectful. We may never know the answer to this question for sure, but let's try and figure out a logical explanation using everybody's ideas.
I believe the egg came first. Actually, it depends how you look at it. Some form of chicken did lay they egg, but not the chicken we see today. You see, chickens evolved over thousands, if not millions, of years, they did not just pop up some day from the ground. Every hundreds of years or so, there would be a slight developement in the ancestors of the chickens. Maybe a shorter wing, or a blunter beak, maybe a more domestic personality. Then, slowly but surely, the chicken is formed. That is how all evolution works. So, after millions of years of evolution, the "hen" which is ever so near the chicken that we keep in our gardens and on farms, lays an egg which is born as a chicken.
*snores with head on elbow*
Sooo, the chicken came first?
No, the egg! Weren't you listening?
But LilyPad, you see, there had to be a chicken to lay the egg in the first place! Understand?
Ugggggh! *face palms*
So, that's just my belief. What's yours? Even Sapphire is entitled to her own opinions. Have fun!

There needs to be a body for the hand. There needs to be a baby for a body. There needs to be a mother for a baby. There needs to be a couple for a mother. I'll stop there.
What came first? Potter or Weasley?

I'm really glad I'm not the only one who knows the truth. Oh, wow, that came out a lot harsher than I meant it to...
Let me rephrase that: being a Christian, I don't believe in evolution. I believe that when God created the universe, he made the actual chicken, not the egg.
I'm sorry, but this thread made me really mad--sometimes it feels like me against the world when many people believe something that I believe is untrue.
When I saw what Lily was saying about evolution, I felt the heat rising, and I got outta here. But I let the need to defend my belief, so I came back.
Icy, you inspired me. If someone hadn't believed what I believe and said it so calmly and kindly, I would probably have burst out like the fiery soul I am at times...
Anyway, yes, it was definitely the chicken.
I am really sorry if I offended anyone.

Thank you, Leeli.
I understand what you feel, but remember, there's two sides to everything. I'm not saying I believe Evolution--I don't--but to other people, who have grown up on Evolution, they might feel like you do--getting slightly upset over other beliefs being said.
I agree with your side, but remember that other people might feel the same as you, but for the other side. And the Chatterbox is a place for all to express what they believe, and what's unique about them, in a safe environment.
I'm not saying that what you said was wrong or mean, but I wanted to remind everyone to walk two moons, or walk in another's footsteps.
I'm proud that you all are keeping this debate/discussion very respectful!

Thank you, Leeli. And Icy. And everyone else who agrees with me. (I'm not trying to be exclusive to those who don't. I absolutely respect your opinion and would not try to hurt you in any way, shape, or form.)
Like Icy said, the CB is a place where all are welcome, so keeping these threads respectful is important.
But I'm glad we could all have a friendly discussion on this matter. ^^
Baguette says "pbum." What does that even mean?
IT MEANS THAT YOU'RE A BUM BECAUSE UNTIL THIS POINT YOU NEVER BOTHERED TO LET ME VOICE MY OPINIONS!
*gasp* Oreo?! Oreo, you speak at last?! Hmph, well that's your choice. You're the one who decided to give me the silent treatment in the first place.
That is so not true!
I'm the one who told him to.
Who are you?!
Sir Teapot leChoco Matcha Redfur, the III.
Are you another AE cat?
I'm not a mere cat, but I can walk like an upright cat and I wear a suit, tie, and always have a top hat and a walking stick.
Okay...we'll discuss this more later.
But I-
Silence! You heard her.
*grumbles* Just cause you have "Sir," in your name doesn't mean a thin-

Thank you so, so much everyone for making this thread into a polite place where we can all voice our opinions and beliefs. It's wonderful hearing about other poeple's religions and beliefs, and I am happy everyone is being inclusive and fair. Looking back, my post did seem a little exclusive, so I am verry sorry if I offended anyone.
