Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Pets are awsome.

Pets are awsome.

Hi. This is where you can just talk about you pets or other animals. I have a bird named Sky but we call him Sky Bird. When we first got Sky we thought he was a girl so we named it Sky but now we know that he's a boy. We named him Sky because he has a blue belly with white splotches like clouds. Sky is a parakeet/budgie. Sky talks, he says cheeseburger, pretty bird, chirp chirp I'm singing, kiss kiss kiss, what ya doing and his all time favorite baby bird. I also have a tarantula named Monique (moe-neek). She just sits in one place all the time except for about once every three weeks when we give her crickets. We also have three fish which had names but I kind of forgot them. No offense fish! We used to have baby crayfish but they all died. I really want a dog or cat but I know we're not getting one. I hope that I can have a rat because that's something my mom might actually let me get. I know most of you are thinking ugh a rat. But domestic ones are actually really cute and they're not super expensive. These are my pets and pets I want. What about you?

I totally agree-rats are super cute and not given the credit they deserve. I have two dogs named Abi and Bell (they're labs, btw), a hamster named Thunder, a parakeet named Winter (birds are awesome!), a fish named Leif, some river snails, fourteen chickens (Peep, Maple, Nancy, Louise, Letty, Chicken Little II, Virginia, May, Tulip, Redd, Toffee, Waffles, Priscilla, and Thelma Lou), and a lamb named Nutmeg. My brother also has a hamster, by the name of Choco.

How did you train your bird to talk? I've been trying to teach Winter, and I could really use some tips! She's my first bird, and though I read a lot about Budgies before I got her, I'm still new to this. ;-)

I agree--pets are awesome!

Leeli you named your chicken THELMA LOU!?! That is legendary. Icy, your dog sounds like a dog I wanna meet!

As for me and pets I had two beta fish(Fishy and, get this... Barney!), a dog named Willow but we had to give her away... she got too big for our townhouse (she was a German shepherd, black lab and husky mix), and a hamster named Skitters. He also died. MY LIFE WITH PETS IS HORRIBLE!

To teach our bird how to talk we choose a few phrases and kept repeating them to it in a random order we also always try to do it in the same voice so it's easier for the bird to learn it. We also let it watch a ton of a bird named Disco online.

My pets are simple; a dog and a gold fish!

Well, the dog thinks he's a human. More on his antics later!

@Squid and Leeli:

I'm betting this isn't so, but me being the fangirl I am: did you name yourself (Squid) and your pet (Winter/Leeli) after Wings of Fire characters? Probably not, but I had to ask.

I have just one pet: an adorable dog. He's pretty medium-sized, and white all over. The tips of his ears and a faint stripe down his spine are light brown, though. His name is Buddy, and he's a purebred mutt. (What I mean by that is that he's entirely mutt, we have a few guesses as to what's in him but they're just guesses.)

Ha. I have so many pets. Here we go-

Cats: I have two cats. One is a VERY large seven-year-old named Blakie (bet you can guess what she looks like), and one is a brown and lighter brown-striped eight-year-old named Alton Brown (yes, after the Food Network Star), but I call him AB. AB is cool because he has a bobtail, rather than a long tail like other cats.

Dogs: I have two dogs, one is a Golden Retriever named Mac, and the other is an English Setter named Holly.

Guinea Pigs: I have three guinea pigs. One is white with a black face named Blanche, one is brown, black, and white named Oatmeal, and one is an adult (the others are babie) with a long brown coat named Whit. They're all girls.

Rabbits: I only have one rabbit, but he's precious. He's three, and his name is William. He has a tan and white coat.

Pigs: I have one pot-bellied pig, named Virginia.

Chickens: I have about 14 chickens. They all have names, but I can't remember all of them XD. They're all hens.

Sheep: I have two babydoll sheep, named Snowflake and Aspen. Snowflake is a boy, and Aspen is a girl.

That's about it for pets I have, but as for pets I want?

I wish I had a small dog, like a Maltese or a pug. (Not saying I'm scared of my dogs, but) Big dogs scare me a little bit, I dunno why, since our dogs are super sweet, but they do.

But other than that, there's not any pets I want.
