Ideas thread
Alright, so I have a few ideas that I need a bit of help on, and I thought it'd be cool to have a thread to share story/book/art/poetry/whatever ideas, and help each other out, too.
Idea#1: So, I've been working on a character who has lost her ability to speak due to a brain injury. This story takes place in the near-ish future, I guess? She builds a robot that connects to an implant in her brain, which sends signals to the robot, who speaks for her.
She can also tell it to play music and read audiobooks- It's basically a really smart speaker that responds to her thoughts. Problem is, I need a name for it. At first, I was going to call it the Artifical Speech Simulator, but then realized what the acronym spelled... yeah. So far, all I've come up with is Telepathic Speech and Soundwave Simulator (T.S.S.S., which could be nicknamed Tess) or Telepathic Speech and Soundwave Aid (T.S.S.A., which could be nicknamed Tessa). I don't know a lot of science words, so if you guys have any ideas for how the robot works or what its name should be, I need them! :)

Ooh Bluebird, that's a really cool idea! The first thing that popped into my head was actually a conflict, and (unfortunately?) it delved into sci-fi fantasy in a way... the main plot point was that the speech simulator would begin to change and distort everything she said to less acceptable or nice things, and because she was unable to fix it in the moment, it would begin to become a problem and she would have to find another to repair whatever went wrong with the simulator. I guess it sounded better in my head, but I'm just throwing out ideas.

That's an awesome plot idea, Clouded! I like the idea of the robot malfunctioning or something. Thank you so much!
So, I'm working on some concept art for T.S.S.S./T.S.S.A., and I've come up with the basic parts it needs to have- an antennae to connect with the web; eyes/sensors; a speaker, obviously; propellors so it can float; adjustment knobs (for volume and stuff); a battery and charger in the back; and possibly a screen that types out the sentences she says.
I'm trying to come up with a way it can communicate itself, maybe... it has a different voice or speaker? I was thinking that maybe after a while, my character programmed it to have another, separate 'brain' that could respond to her when she talked to it. Does that sound dumb? It's kind of like a speaker or translator, I guess, but also a friend. That way, T.S.S.S./T.S.S.A. could talk through the speak itself, and if I used Clouded Leopard's idea of it malfunctioning/changing and distorting her sentences...
These are the very horrible sketches I've made. You probably can't read my handwriting, sorry.

Okay, this is what I've come up with: (Makarim/Maka is my character's name, by the way)
T.S.S.S./T.S.S.A is Maka's friend. When Maka talks to it, the robot doesn't say Maka's thoughts out loud, just responds to her in its own, different voice. The voice that Maka chose is about as average of a female voice as you can get.
When Maka is talking to other people, T.S.S.S./T.S.S.A. says what Maka tells it to say out loud. The robot can talk to others, as well. It has a memory chip that Maka programmed herself, but if it was tampered with or malfunctioned, T.S.S.S./T.S.S.A. could be very dangerous.
What do you think? Am I missing any plot holes yet?

Cool idea! I would love to read the story!
I think you should go with Tess because your MC is named Maka and Tessa and Maka sounds a little too much. However, if you were looking for the names to sound similar Tessa is the way to go.
I will think more on this! VERY cool idea!

Yeah, I was leaning toward Tess, too. Thanks, Silverwaxwing!

This is an excellent "Idea!"! I liked it best when Maka needss Tess to speak.
