Are there any
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
Are there any
Are there any other crocheters out there? (For those of you who don't know, crochet is pronounced crow-shay, and it's done with a single hook, not unlike knitting, but, in my opinion, faster and cooler.) I think I saw something on an old thread I was reading about Lena crocheting, but I'm not sure.... I don't know very many people my age who do, (as in, maybe two - hey, I rhymed! :D) and one of the two lives in Connecticut. I'm nuts about it. I do it all the time. There are two girls across the street I babysit (Ok, so they're 8 1/2 and 10, so it's not that much of an age difference) and I've taught them to crochet pretty well... they can't really do it entirely on their own yet, but they're getting there. Anyway, I just wanted to know.... I've been crocheting for just over two years, I think, and I'm starting to make a little money off it, which is very nice since yarn and stuff like that are rather pricey for my slim purse. (Hence my babysitting, especially in the summer. And actually, I don't have a purse. More of a tote bag to haul yarn and books around in. =D) I have a pattern for adorable little clotheslines that I'm selling to family and friends for something like $15 each, and my aunt is a salesperson for appliances, and every time someone buys a washer/dryer set from her, she orders a clothesline from me for them. That's nice. And my mom is my other best customer - baby shower gifts and the like. If there are any crocheters (or knitters or beaders, or other crafters) out there, have you heard of Etsy? I'm going to start selling stuff I've made this fall, taking the summer to stockpile. I also can do just about every other handicraft under the sun except embroidery, and that I can sort of do. I can knit, bead, I'm learning to quilt, I can sew if I have to, I can make doll furniture out of foamcore and tiny wooden cubes.... Anyway, that was really long to ask a simple question. :P And if there are any crocheters out ther, and if you want me to, I have a good, easy flower pattern I could post. I think I'll keep the other patterns of my own invention to myself. :D

Agreed! It's so great to come home from school and be surrounded (figuratively) by such awesome people. Especially today. Very bad day. VERY. BAD. DAY. /rants/
But no, I didn't quit because I was awful at it (though I was). I quit because I have better things to do with my time, my talents lie elsewhere, and it was annoying me. And I didn't really enjoy it. All of your projects sound really cool, though! :)

*pats Mary on the shoulder* Poor you. I hate bad days!!

I can sort of crochet squares (but they always end up being circles!!). :)D)D) I can knit well, though!!! :):) Buuut, my old cat threw up on the hat I'm working on.... And I was almost done with it, too!! :(

Ahhhh! Paige, that's soo sad. I can knit squares and sweaters, but hats and gloves baffle me!

Aww! That stinks (literally)! :(

I am trying to learn. Well technically I've been trying to learn for three years!! :D But I love to knit!!

Yeah, crocheting can be a bit of a trick to learn. I wish you well in that!

You're right; I crochet! It's a lot of fun. For my sister's bat mitzvah, I crocheted little spice bags for the Havdalah 'separation' ceremony, and everyone took them home as little gifts! That was pretty cool. :)

Yeah, it's fun to make lots of little things for people. At Christmas I make things for just about everyone I know well at church, which, when you add my relatives and other friends to it, some four-six dozen gifts. Fun, somehow.

I knit, crochet, and finger knit. Autumn LOVES to sew. Mom makes jewelry and stuff, so does my aunt. My grandma makes Christmas stuff. Mom had a booth at a concert for Jakes Leg. She sells jewelry and stuff. She also has booths and stuff at fairs. We made three decorative scarves; we only sold one. We made a bunch of finger-knited necklaces that we called: furry friends something or other. We gave all the money we got from them to 5 A's. It's a dog pound where they don't kill any dogs or cats. It stands for: Alton Area Animal Aid Assotiation, A lotta "A's". My mom also has stuff on Etsy. Jewelry. Vintage button jewelry. Key necklaces. And a bunch of "Junk jewelry" as mom calls it. Two of my friends' moms have stuff on Etsy. Rebeka (same name as your mom, Laura!) and Missy. Missy sews stuff and makes clothes and baby slings. And Rebeka makes clay sculptures and face cups. We have sculpture because mom is a midwife and helped Rebeka with birthing a baby. And we have two face cups. The kissy cup and the Dad at two o'clock having salt, butter, and bread. Yes, we named them. Moms Etsy store name is; FruitfulValley. Oh, I forgot to say that she also sells faeries that she and Autumn makes. She doesn't have mine n yet.

I checked out your mom's shop - those fairies are awesome!!! I liked some of the jewelry, too. Finger knitting sounds fun - besides, you never have to worry about what size needle to use. :D Very cool! You're now in my favorite shops. Tell your mom she scored big - she's got the approval of a thirteen year old. OOOOOOO!!!!!! :P

Ha ha! Yah, I like the stuff too!!! :)

Ok, that was really cool! I looked on the thingy that shows who hearts the shop, and there you were, first one, Emily! It's really fun knowing people on Etsy too!!!! :)

Yeah! The only person I know who knows about it (besides my friend who shares my shop and my family) is my uncle, so this is really cool!
